"How am I supposed to catch him?" Spider-Man's question was simple. He just wanted to know how he could catch him. But it made Lu Mingyu fall into thought as well. He did not know how to solve the problem.
Reverse-Flash said, "You can force him into a trap, then catch him."
"Provided that trap is hidden enough." Lu Mingyu's expression darkened. He felt that he could learn the location of the world rift through Quicksilver, so his actual plan was simply to trap him.
Lu Mingyu planned to find out where the Black Lantern Ring on Black Lantern Quicksilver's hand had come from. He needed to find the world rift so that he could go home. Though the world of superheroes was truly wonderful, it was not enough to make him give up his family.
So, only by catching Black Lantern Quicksilver would they have a chance to find the world rift.
"First, I can't think of any trap that could catch a speedster. Second, none of us can keep up with your movements, and we can't raise our reaction speed to your level either." Spider-Man was telling the truth, but his words also reflected his admiration for speedsters. He envied their reaction speed. At first, he had thought he was already fast, but speedsters turned out to be even faster.
Listening to Spider-Man, Lu Mingyu realized that he had indeed overlooked that point. "I remember you have Spider-Sense, that kind of feeling."
Spider-Man nodded. He did have that feeling, but it was completely useless against speedsters. It had been that way when he fought Lu Mingyu before, and it was still that way now. He answered honestly, "I do, but it isn't very useful."
"I think it's very useful. Remember our fight?" Lu Mingyu reminded him. "Maybe you just don't understand your own abilities well enough."
"Mr. Stark said the same thing, but I don't think I can improve this ability." Thinking back to that battle, Spider-Man truly felt lucky. If he had not predicted the path of the lightning, he might never have been able to land a hit on Lu Mingyu. At the time, he had nearly broken down. Facing a speedster had made him feel willing but powerless.
Listening to their conversation, Reverse-Flash chimed in again. "You know, the fact that you're superheroes—or that you have these abilities at all—is already incredible. I believe the incredible is practically an everyday occurrence for you. So if you truly have some kind of warning ability, I think it can be improved too."
Faced with Lu Mingyu and Reverse-Flash's encouragement, Spider-Man did see a glimmer of hope.
But that did not mean he would completely believe them. Sometimes, hope could truly become poison.
Spider-Man nodded and said somewhat perfunctorily, "Okay. I'll train."
"Then get yourself ready today. How about the two of us go to the training grounds tomorrow?" Lu Mingyu asked tentatively.
Spider-Man shook his head. "I need to spend some time studying. I promised Aunt May I'd work hard at school."
Even now, whenever Spider-Man thought about it, he could feel how speechless it was. Since coming to Avengers Tower, the only thing he had learned was that his abilities were insufficient. That was all, yet no matter how hard he thought about it, he could not figure out exactly where he was lacking.
He could catch cars with his bare hands, spin webs to trap criminals, and fight powerful villains. He did not think he lacked anything—or rather, he did not think he was unqualified.
"Alright, I mainly came over to talk to you about how we're going to deal with Black Lantern Quicksilver." Lu Mingyu thought for a moment. "Then I'll... be going?"
"Mm, bye." Spider-Man's tone was especially calm. Looking at Lu Mingyu and Reverse-Flash as they left, he said, "Five in the morning, the day after tomorrow."
Lu Mingyu nodded. He knew Spider-Man had agreed to his plan.
"We can see that if there had been just one more Avenger, we would have been completely wiped out," Black Lantern Quicksilver analyzed. Mordo's leg still had not healed, and the injury was severe. It even felt as if amputation might be necessary.
Mordo used magic to heal his leg while using magic to keep all the bacteria around him away. He was in agonizing pain, but he could still endure it. "Of course I know that. If I hadn't seen Iron Man alone, I never would have rushed in."
"It's fine. This time, it's not your fault." Black Lantern Quicksilver shook his head indifferently, though that was not what he truly thought. He felt that Mordo's magic was still too weak. Why had he not been able to catch Iron Man sooner?
Mordo nodded. "He won't be so lucky next time."
Mordo gritted his teeth as he said it. Looking at the dust in the house, he was grateful that he could use magic to protect his right leg.
Black Lantern Quicksilver said, "Fine. While we have the chance, we can study the information Tony left us."
The thought of having information about the Avengers made him want to burst with joy. When he had Mordo take out those documents, he forced himself to remain calm as he asked, "Why do these still look like blank sheets of paper?"
"I don't know. Logically, Stephen's magical concealment should have worn off by now." Mordo flipped through the files. "This is impossible!"
"Maybe we've been played." Black Lantern Quicksilver gritted his teeth. He wanted nothing more than to tear Tony to pieces. Killing intent rose from Black Lantern Quicksilver's body, but it vanished in an instant.
Mordo did not notice Black Lantern Quicksilver's state. He only felt that he had suffered his injury for nothing.
"I'm going out," Black Lantern Quicksilver said. "Take care of yourself. I'm leaving."
"Alright." Mordo did not know what Black Lantern Quicksilver was going out to do, but since he wanted to leave, Mordo had no way to stop him. He lay alone in the empty room, sensing the owner of the house and feeling the warmth of the life that had once existed there.
Black Lantern Quicksilver was extremely fast. He needed to vent, or rather, devour some hearts.
He left silver light across the ground as his figure darted back and forth. He was looking for a small village, or people who were alone.
After all, the Avengers could not find out about this, or he might be in trouble.
Like a bullet, Black Lantern Quicksilver shot straight toward the city. He had already discovered that there was no one in the suburbs. Black light bloomed in his eyes, and the Black Lantern Ring on his hand seemed to hum as it craved blood and prayed for slaughter!
Black Lantern Quicksilver streaked across the lawn, his figure shooting into the city.
In an alley, he found someone alone. Smiling cruelly, he slashed his hand viciously across the person's chest, and the person's heart was immediately torn out!
Black Lantern Quicksilver licked the blood from the heart with his tongue, his eyes filled with longing. "It's been so long, so long since I've eaten a fresh... heart!"
A cruel massacre was about to unfold in this small city. Black Lantern Quicksilver's figure flashed several times before he left the area.
The young man's body lay in a pool of blood, his eyes wide open as though he had witnessed something unbelievable. Perhaps he had seen his own heart being ripped out?
