Background / History

Wong informs Stephen that a rift has opened in their world and presents a live magical projection of the resurrected, decaying Quicksilver. Strange searches the library through astral projection for information on Quicksilver’s Black Lantern Ring, finds no record of it, and concludes that the rift has brought unfamiliar dangers into their world. 8

After detecting Quicksilver searching for Lu Mingyu through Wong’s spell projection, Strange uses his Sling Ring to travel to Lu and Tony Stark. He freezes Lu, Quicksilver, and an incoming stone with the Eye of Agamotto, but Lu’s Speed Force nearly resists the temporal confinement. Strange consequently questions Lu’s origins and briefly suspects a connection to Dormammu. 9 11

The Dark Blade pierces the Eye of Agamotto’s time-freezing power and frees Quicksilver, convincing Strange that the breach is more serious than he had believed. Lu saves Strange from the blade, but Strange remains wary of Lu’s unexplained knowledge and time-related abilities. 11

At Avengers Tower, Strange and Lu expose Mordo after he impersonates Wong. Strange tries to capture his former ally without triggering the unstable magic inside him, but Mordo wounds him and escapes. Lu retrieves the stolen Wand of Watoomb and carries Strange to safety. 13 14
