Background / History
Gu Mo began as an ordinary modern homebody whose condition was reset by the System to the optimal baseline for a normal person. Its interface later revealed an upgrade system, equipment slots, skills, and attributes, confirming that the strange phenomena surrounding him were tied to a game-like power system rather than mere delusion. 12 57 86
His first major Dungeon expedition led him to Thirteen Cherry Blossom Village, where he recognized the setting from Nioh. There he met the mute half-Yokai swordswoman Hidechiyo, whom he called “Axiu,” and survived encounters with Yokai through improvisation, Life Potential, Spirit Stones, and her protection. 14 15 20 22
After clearing the village, Gu Mo received settlement rewards, a Golden Key, and Nine-Tails as his Guardian Spirit. He traveled with Hidechiyo and Tokichiro to Mino Province, where Saito Dosan took an interest in his potential and eventually entrusted Mino and his daughter to him. 23 26 31 49
Gu Mo returned to the modern world after more than a month in the Dungeon world, concealed his return from the community, and completed the System’s real-name verification, allowing him to log out and return freely. 54
His travels expanded into increasingly dangerous worlds and conflicts. He acquired divine authorities, developed his Mystic Arts, ascended into an Immortal, and eventually returned to Mino as its new lord, pursuing industrial development, space exploration, and the construction of a Lunar Orbit City. 160 191 213 228
Appearance
Gu Mo is a young black-haired man whose physique, complexion, posture, and presence changed markedly after repeated level-ups. He commonly appears in Daoist robes, though he adapts his clothing through Projection Magic when entering unfamiliar worlds. 57 104 281 382
- Initially had a balanced, ordinary physique before the System reset his attributes. 12 57
- Developed sculpted body lines after increasing Strength and Constitution. 57
- His higher Spirit attribute leaves him energetic, bright-eyed, and capable of prolonged activity without sleep. 84
- Nine-Tails’ influence gives him an unusually compelling aura that can attract or bewitch onlookers. 57 58
- Has manifested as a colossal dragon during major power surges. 312
Personality
Gu Mo is cautious, practical, and highly adaptable. Early in his journey, he deliberately acts normal to avoid suspicion, probes unfamiliar systems before committing to decisions, and treats Dungeon worlds with the wariness of a player navigating dangerous rules. 6 12 30
He is resourceful under pressure and willing to use deception, foreknowledge, or mental influence when he believes it will protect allies or give him an advantage. His methods can be manipulative—such as misleading Hidechiyo, influencing Chiko Yutaka with the Artificial Demonic Eye, and steering Luo Hao away from Athena—but he usually approaches conflicts strategically rather than recklessly. 15 228 527
Despite his growing power, Gu Mo remains prone to embarrassment over his past behavior, nostalgia for his former life, and dry humor. He also shows concern for people close to him, including Hidechiyo, Tokichiro, Kikyo, Alice, and his parents. 93 96 162 216 400
