Background / History

Xi He originally lived on the cold Taiyin Star, emerging from Guanghan Palace with Chang Xi when Xiao Kuang intruded through the star's outer forbidden seal. She immediately regarded his Heavenly Dao-aligned yet lazy and impure aura with suspicion, questioning whether he had merely stolen a fragment of authority to deceive others. 4

After she and Chang Xi rejected Xiao Kuang's frivolous attempts at courtship, he used Heavenly Dao Authority to lock down Taiyin Star, suppress its laws, and generate forced employment contracts. Xi He was taken to Purple Firmament Palace against her will as an Etiquette Consultant. 4

Though she initially resented Xiao Kuang's conduct and captivity, Xi He recognized that the palace was unusually beneficial: its isolation reduced her karma, prevented calamities, and supported her cultivation. This left her conflicted toward the Dao Ancestor and the place that had deprived her of freedom. 6

When Xiao Kuang needed to summon an audience for his first sermon, Xi He accepted a temporary portion of his Heavenly Dao privileges and used her precise command of the laws to transmit a formal invitation throughout the Primordial Era. Her polished message announced that Purple Firmament Palace would open in three thousand years for a lecture on the Great Dao. 7 8

Xiao Kuang later entrusted Xi He with three strands of Primordial Violet Qi, treating the foundation of sainthood as a toy. Xi He understood the danger and karmic weight of possessing the qi, attempting unsuccessfully to return it and thereafter keeping it concealed. 29 30 37

When Xiao Kuang began seeking Wangshu, Xi He and Chang Xi concealed their master's place of seclusion and resolved to become stronger enough to protect her from humiliation or danger. Xiao Kuang's crude inter-realm communication experiment nevertheless reached Taiyin Star and alerted Wangshu, who ultimately came to Purple Firmament Palace. 35 36 38
