Background / History

Chang Xi originally resided on the cold, moonlit Taiyin Star near Guanghan Palace alongside Xi He. When Xiao Kuang arrived claiming to be the Dao Integration Dao Ancestor, Chang Xi openly mocked his frivolity, questionable origins, and ignorance of innate merit. 4

After Chang Xi and Xi He rejected Xiao Kuang’s advances, he abused Heavenly Dao Authority to seal Taiyin Star, suppress their mana and connection to the Taiyin Dao, and forcibly bind them to employment at Purple Heaven Palace. 4

Although initially resentful and imprisoned by Heavenly Dao authority, Chang Xi discovered that living in Purple Heaven Palace allowed her cultivation to progress smoothly and reduced her karma through its proximity to the origin of the Heavenly Dao. 6

Xiao Kuang later entrusted Chang Xi with four of the seven strands of Primordial Violet Qi meant to be distributed after the third sermon. Chang Xi regarded the qi as an unbearable danger: its aura could attract the Primordial Era’s great powers, while her Grand Unity Golden Immortal cultivation could only barely conceal it. 29 30

Chang Xi became increasingly anxious after Xiao Kuang’s crude inter-realm communicator disturbed Wangshu within Taiyin Star’s core. She and Xi He sensed their master’s awakening and resolved not to let Wangshu be humiliated if she came to the palace. 36 37

When Wangshu ultimately arrived, Chang Xi was terrified but remained at her side. Wangshu chose to stay temporarily to investigate Purple Heaven Palace and protect her disciples. 38 39

Appearance

Chang Xi is a fairy maiden and Lunar Goddess with a livelier disposition than Xi He, marked by clever mischief in her brows and eyes. 4

Personality

Chang Xi is sharp-tongued, perceptive, and unwilling to indulge Xiao Kuang’s pretensions. She immediately recognizes the inconsistency between his Heavenly Dao-aligned aura and his lazy, shallow foundation, repeatedly ridiculing his lack of basic cultivation knowledge and his vulgar treatment of merit. 4 7

Despite her hostility toward Xiao Kuang, she is practical enough to recognize the cultivation and karmic benefits of Purple Heaven Palace. Her caution becomes especially pronounced when she is made responsible for Primordial Violet Qi; rather than seeing it as an opportunity, she fears becoming a target for every power in the Primordial Era. 6 29 30

Chang Xi is deeply protective of Wangshu. She fears both Wangshu’s reaction to their circumstances and the possibility that Xiao Kuang might mistreat her, motivating Chang Xi to seek greater strength. 35 37

Purple Heaven Palace Captivity

As a captive maidservant, Chang Xi initially resists Xiao Kuang’s demands, including his order that she and Xi He massage him while he uses the Green Lotus of Creation as a foot basin. 6 11
