Background / History

The Sage of Six Paths was Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the father of Indra and Asura. Indra inherited his father's Sage Eye and followed the path of Yin Release, while Asura inherited the Sage Body and followed Yang Release. The Sharingan—including its one-, two-, three-tomoe, and Mangekyō forms—is described as a degraded lineage of Indra's Eye. 18 19

He divided the Ten-Tails' chakra and spread it among living beings, establishing the basis by which people in the Ninja World refine chakra. 26

His legacy endured through the Uchiha and Senju bloodlines. The Uchiha inherited exceptional ocular power but suffered the Mangekyō's blindness curse, while the Senju lineage retained the Sage Body's immense vitality, regenerative ability, chakra reserves, and affinity for natural energy. 19
