Madara and Hashirama Senju were childhood friends before learning that they belonged to enemy clans. Their friendship became entangled with the Uchiha–Senju conflict, while Madara’s hatred toward Tobirama Senju deepened after Tobirama killed his younger brother, Izuna. Despite this loss, Madara allied with the Senju to establish Konoha, though he never believed the old distrust between the clans had truly disappeared. 257 270

In Konoha, Madara serves as Deputy Hokage alongside Hashirama. He remains wary of outsiders and immediately notices the unfamiliar presence of Natsu, Yaoyu, and Yakumi in the Uchiha district.
