Background

Early state

Spirit Platform Mountain was Zhu Yin's dwelling place for tens of thousands of years. It was covered by vast green bamboo groves, streams, and a mist-shrouded spirit spring; its spirit roots gradually repaired the mountain's ley lines and thickened its spiritual energy 1.

Although it was far inferior to Mount Sumeru, Zhu Yin regarded it as his true home and Dao field. He described its value through the saying, “A humble home beats a palace of gold” 8.

Rise in the Western Lands

Following its advancement to a Middle-Grade Grotto-Heaven, the mountain began attracting cultivators, newly born spirit roots, spirit bees, and surrounding settlements. Three Spirit Lands appeared after the transformation, two of which were opened to independent cultivators and nearby races under Zhu Yin's rules 17 18 23.

Zhu Yin established the Merit Pavilion in nearby Blessed Fortune Spirit Land, rewarding Western living beings who repaired damaged earth veins. Its success made Spirit Platform Mountain a focal point for the Western Lands' recovery and accumulated substantial providence for the mountain 18 33.

Over the following eras, Spirit Platform Mountain remained outside major Primordial conflicts. Its trade, cultivation resources, and peaceful order drew clans seeking refuge from the Witch-Monster conflict and other powerful factions 28 52.

Upper-grade transformation

The mountain's first major qualitative transformation began alongside Zhu Yin's breakthrough. Its internal world expanded from one million to ten million li, while the mountain became an independent small world attached to the Primordial Wilderness World Barrier 53.

After a thousand years, the Heavenly Dao formally recognized it as an Upper-Grade Grotto-Heaven Blessed Land. Its central peak rose from one thousand to ten thousand zhang and received the name Mount Fangcun 54.

Thirteen thousand years after the transformation, its internal area had stabilized at twenty million li, while its Dao Domain reached five million li. Its foundation and fortune could rival the older Vulture Spirit Mountain Grotto-Heaven 59.

Supreme-grade transformation

When the Western Lands gained Heaven's Mandate, Zhu Yin used the opportunity to elevate Spirit Platform Mountain once more. The final transformation did not primarily enlarge its visible area; instead, its spirit veins expanded through hundreds of millions of li, the Five Elements Spirit-Gathering Formation grew stronger, and new spiritual lands and Low-Grade Grotto-Heavens emerged throughout the surrounding Dharma Realm 113 115.

Spirit Platform Mountain ultimately became a Supreme-Grade Grotto-Heaven Blessed Land 115.

Geography and Landmarks

Mount Fangcun and Crescent Moon Three Stars Cave

Mount Fangcun is the mountain's main peak and the location of Zhu Yin's Bamboo Building. Within it lies Crescent Moon Three Stars Cave, the core of the Grotto-Heaven 54.

The cave is renowned as a sacred place for cultivating the heart and comprehending the Dao. The Enlightenment Tea Tree and Pure Bamboo grant the mountain the effects of enlightenment and heart-clearing, helping cultivators understand their Dao Hearts 55.

Zhu Yin believes that Crescent Moon Three Stars Cave will one day be where Sun Wukong acknowledges a master 54.

Spirit Medicine Garden

The Spirit Medicine Garden is Spirit Platform Mountain's principal cultivation site for spiritual herbs and Spirit Roots. Zhu Yin personally expanded and tended it using the Merit Spirit Hoe, Mystic Light Heavenly Plow, and Life Force spiritual water 22.

Its holdings include Innate Spirit Roots such as the Life-and-Death Fruit Tree, Fire Date Spirit Tree, Geng Metal Fruit Tree, Water Essence Fruit Tree, and Astral Fruit Tree 22.

Other notable sites

• Primordial Lotus Pool — A major gathering place within the mountain, containing white and black lotus ponds that later produced Low-Grade Innate lotuses 34 69.
• Hundred Flowers Valley — Three flower valleys containing numerous spiritual flowers, innate spirit lakes, and Spirit Bee activity 34.
• Dragonfish Spirit Lake and Whitewater Lake — Lakes inhabited by dragonfish and white-scaled merfolk; Whitewater Lake's merfolk produce pearl tears and soul-calming cloth 34.
• Worry-Free Peak — A High-Grade Spirit Land settled and named by the Wood-and-Grass Clan, later advanced into a Supreme-Grade Spirit Land 28 34.
• Illusory Spirit Valley — Home to butterfly hatchlings and little dragons who later befriended Jade Chick 36 43.

Institutions and Economy

Merit Pavilion

The Merit Pavilion was established in Blessed Fortune Spirit Land to exchange treasures for earth-vein restoration efforts. It has three floors corresponding to the Heavenly Immortal, True Immortal, and Mysterious Immortal levels, with spatial formations allowing it to hold more than ten thousand visitors at once 18.

• Rewards include pills, spiritual iron, fruits, herbs, Heaven and Earth Treasures, and other cultivation resources 18.
• Wuxin and Wuqing were assigned to manage its operations 18.
• It became especially valuable to clans burdened by karmic sin, including the Dragon Clan, Mirage Dragon Clan, and Hundred Illusion Butterfly Clan 35.

Hundred Treasures Hall

The Hundred Treasures Hall serves as Spirit Platform Mountain's primary commercial center. Its auctions offer spirit wine, spiritual fruits, pills, treasures, and other rare resources 24.

• Major auctions attracted Taiyi Golden Immortals and increased the mountain's reputation across the Western Lands 52.
• The Ten-Thousand Mountains later rented shops within the hall, creating a steady trade relationship 52.
• Trade with the Dragon Clan, Witch Clan, and other groups supplied the mountain with Spirit Roots, spiritual fruits, treasures, and brewing materials 30 31 52.

Dao Domain and Formation Network

Spirit Platform Mountain's Dao Domain expanded alongside its Grotto-Heaven rank. After becoming an Upper-Grade Grotto-Heaven, its domain reached three million li; it later stabilized at five million li 55 59.

After another hundred thousand years of development, the five-million-li Dao Domain held over three thousand Spirit Lands, including six Supreme-Grade Spirit Lands occupied by the Asura, He Luo Fish, Gandharva, Kinnara, Mahoraga, and Proud-Insect Spirit Bee Clans 69.

Zhu Yin developed the Five Elements Spirit-Gathering Formation by cultivating forests of Five Elements Spirit Roots. The formation strengthens earth veins, gathers spiritual energy, and supports the Western Lands' recovery 31 68.

Later, the Sun, Moon, and Star Spirit Roots joined the formation's operation, drawing down starlight to replenish earth qi and expand the resulting formation-space across billions of li 74.

Residents and Administration

• Zhu Yin — Lord and founder of Spirit Platform Mountain; personally cultivates its Spirit Roots, develops its institutions, and directs its transformations 18 22 54.
• Wuxin and Wuqing — Zhu Yin's boy attendants and the Merit Pavilion's managers; they also oversee mountain affairs during his absences 18 22.

Spirit Platform Mountain rose from a rare Western spiritual mountain into a sacred land comparable to the White Tiger Clan's territory and Mount Sumeru in influence within the Western Primordial Wilderness 52.

As the Spirit Platform Dharma Realm developed, it became a Western pure land second only to Mount Sumeru. More than half of its territory spanning hundreds of millions of li had recovered, twelve Low-Grade Grotto-Heavens had formed, and its population exceeded eighty million living beings 95.
