Before obtaining the genuine ability, Ian used a burst of Spiritual Pressure that knocked out nearly eighty percent of the Kid Pirates. He initially suspected that this aura was Conqueror's Haki, but later learned that the two powers were fundamentally different: Spiritual Pressure imposed bodily oppression, while Conqueror's Haki struck directly at the soul. 3 5

Ian received Conqueror's Haki as the reward for killing Lao G. Its immediate release overwhelmed surrounding civilians, confirming both its spiritual nature and Ian's lack of initial restraint. 5

While testing the ability against the Force King Pirates, Ian tried to combine it with his other spiritual-pressure-like aura. The first attempt was unstable, dispersed the force, and weakened both powers; nevertheless, the system recognized the cross-world fusion and unlocked Advanced Conqueror's Haki. 7

Ian's advanced Haki surpassed Donquixote Doflamingo's during their clash on Al Island, then developed into weapon coating during the same conflict. 9 12 At Sabaody, Ian overwhelmed Silvers Rayleigh's Conqueror's Haki and ended the contest once his mission was complete. 51 52

By the Gran Tesoro incident, Ian's projected Haki was described as exceeding Red-Haired Shanks's in intensity and incapacitated nearly ninety percent of those inside the venue. 115 Later, his full release at the World Expo pressured hidden observers, pirate crews, and Navy Admirals alike. 168

Spiritual Domination

Conqueror's Haki releases the user's overwhelming will as a spiritual attack capable of incapacitating weaker targets without physical contact.

• Victims commonly lose consciousness, foam at the mouth, and collapse immediately. 5 7 25
• It can dominate groups ranging from pirate crews to auction-house attendees and criminal organizations. 7 39 51

Precision and Area Control

Advanced Conqueror's Haki allows Ian to regulate both the reach and intensity of his pressure.

The advanced application coats a user's fists, weapons, or attacks in Conqueror's Haki.

Suppression and Haki Interference

Powerful Conqueror's Haki can suppress another user's will and disrupt their combat awareness.

• Ian gradually gained the advantage over Doflamingo before overwhelming his Conqueror's Haki outright. 9
