Background

Robin served as Baroque Works’ vice president under the codename Miss All Sunday while secretly pursuing Alabasta’s historical Poneglyph. Li Ziming’s immediate recognition of both her real name and Crocodile’s identity made her wary, but she accepted a tentative arrangement with him rather than risk exposing her own objective. 7

Crocodile later ordered Robin to eliminate or drive Li from Alabasta after judging him a threat to his plans. Robin’s growing dissatisfaction with Crocodile’s service became clear when she admitted exhaustion, despair, and a belief that death might be preferable. 10 11

After Crocodile nearly killed Li in the desert, Robin found him alive, carried him toward medical help, and took him to Drum Island. During the journey, she shared the traumatic history of her childhood, archaeological work, abusive relatives, and destroyed homeland. 13
