Personality

Shiki is openly ambitious and intensely money-driven. When Rocks is late returning to the ship, he immediately proposes taking over as captain. He also covets a legendary Devil Fruit—not to consume it, but as an asset for the force he intends to build in the future 2 40.

He routinely conceals profitable opportunities, demands larger shares of loot, and disguises self-interest as concern for his companions. His reputation is so established that the crew treats his unsolicited offer of help on Elbaf as evidence that he expects a reward 71 144 161 165.

Shiki enjoys provoking others but holds grudges when the joke is on him. He taunts Kaido, quarrels constantly with Silver Axe, and attempts to lure Ron into a drinking game after suffering a humiliating slap. Against overwhelming danger, he readily retreats or pretends to be unconscious 6 49 57 75 81.

Annika’s sincerity exposes a more protective side. Her continued faith in him makes him stop short of insulting her and volunteer to guard the ship. When Saint Garling destroys her Safety Charm, Shiki painstakingly retrieves its fragments and attacks him in genuine fury 137 202.

Joining the Crew’s Conflicts

Shiki is already aboard the Rocks Pirates’ ship when Ron joins. His quarrel with Silver Axe ends with Rocks kicking both men overboard. After Ron defeats Kaido, Shiki mockingly offers to kill the newcomer on Kaido’s behalf, an offer Kaido distrusts 2 3 6.

During the conflict involving Roger’s crew, Shiki flies ahead to locate their ship and loot it. He and Linlin return with stolen treasure, pursued by Roger and Rayleigh, and race back to the Saber of Xebec rather than defend one another 29 33.

Saint Sebastian and Imu

Hoping to obtain the legendary Devil Fruit, Shiki intercepts Imu after Ron claims that the fruit is with the creature pursuing him. His confidence disappears when Observation Haki warns him of Imu’s attack 40 47.

Ron later drags him into the Golden Nine-Tailed Fox Demon despite his protests, then ejects him toward Imu when their escape route is blocked. Imu knocks him into a crater with a black-fog hammer, and Shiki remains there playing dead. He confronts Ron over the incident after returning to the ship 48 49 56.

Voyage to Elbaf

Shiki participates in a rock-paper-scissors contest where winners slap losers. Ron wins their first round, delivers a spinning slap in Nine-Tails Mode, and withdraws by accepting the five-million-Beli penalty 57.

On Elbaf, Shiki joins the fighting because he suspects Rocks’s group is concealing something valuable. After Harald knocks him and Silver Axe down, both pretend to be unconscious until Ron threatens them with a giant lava ball 71 72 75.

His later attempt to trick Ron with supposedly restorative “Life Water” fails when Ron ignites the liquid and identifies it as hard liquor 80 81.

Amazon Lily

Shiki agrees to support Annika without payment and transports the crew toward Amazon Lily, loudly complaining that he alone is doing the work. Her gratitude and confidence in him eventually prompt him to remain behind and protect the ship 113 130 137.

He subsequently helps John empty Amazon Lily’s treasury. When confronted about floating crates, he claims to have been clearing rubble for reconstruction. Annika’s silent disappointment makes him abandon his denials, though he also exposes John’s involvement 147 148.

Sabaody Archipelago

After learning that a Devil Fruit will be auctioned at Sabaody, Shiki suppresses the message and leaves alone. Ron, Kaido, and Annika catch up with him, exposing his attempt to claim the opportunity for himself 161 162 163.

At a casino, Ron offers him nearly all their collected treasure, briefly earning his enthusiastic declaration of friendship. The arrival of Zephyr leads to Shiki and Kaido fighting the Marine together, but their mutual interference leaves both being driven back 165 166 167.

Shiki later finds Annika eating the stolen auction fruit and accuses Ron of excluding him from the profits. Once Annika confirms they arrived too late for the auction, he flies off; Ron concludes that he intends to collect the auction house’s money 178 179.

God Valley

Shiki accepts Annika’s Safety Charm before sailing, then becomes alarmed upon learning that the operation may pit them against Imu again. At God Valley, Ron pulls him back from an early departure long enough to give him a Chakra Cloak 186 194.

While pursuing treasure, Shiki encounters Saint Garling and the God’s Knights. He tricks Garling by invoking Rocks’s name, leads the knights on an aerial chase, and eventually wounds Garling and demands directions to the treasure 200 201.

Garling tears off his own head to escape Shiki’s grip and counterattacks. Although Shiki’s cloak and Haki protect him, Annika’s charm is destroyed. After collecting its fragments, he overwhelms Garling with a much faster assault and cuts him into three pieces. His Conqueror’s Haki slows Garling’s regeneration, but Garling continues recovering and boasts that he can revive repeatedly 201 202 203.
