Background and History

Ran Zirou has a mixed spiritual root, which makes ordinary cultivation slow. In her previous life, she gained Li Zi’s Myriad Flower Divine Bone after inner disciples carved it from Li Zi’s body. She rose to the Tribulation Transcendence Stage, but her pursuit of sainthood brought ruin to the Three Realms; those she had harmed killed her 2 10 127 219.

Reborn near the time she entered the Spirit Sword Sect, Ran expected her former opportunities and supporters to return. Instead, Li Zi became the Fifth Elder’s personal disciple and received the pendant Ran remembered treasuring. Ran initially entered the Inner Sect as a servant disciple, later spent time with her mother at the Hehuan Sect, and was eventually allowed to return under the Fifth Elder’s nominal supervision 7 8 9 21 60.

Ran used memories of her previous life to seek allies and resources, including engineering a threat to Zhu Min’s younger brother so she could stage a rescue. When her cultivation lagged, she adopted a demonic method that drained men during Dual Cultivation. She used it on Qu Cang despite knowing it could damage his foundation 69 116 122.

Ran later recovered a hairpin containing Demon Prince Si Le’s soul, but Li Zi seized it before she could awaken him. After a stopped Devil Race invasion, Ran was left unconscious and severely weakened; the sect leaders placed her in the Hehuan Sect’s care 212 220 247. Later, she and Li Zi formed a wary alliance: Ran agreed to kill Si Le in exchange for his bloodline and help becoming the Demon God 286 287.

Appearance

Ran’s beauty repeatedly draws attention, while her delicate expressions help her appear harmless 17 109.

Personality

Ran presents herself as gentle or vulnerable, but often uses that impression to gain sympathy, access, or resources. After rebirth, she becomes more deliberate about accepting men’s support without trusting them or forming attachments. She regards many opportunities from her previous life—including other people’s gifts and Li Zi’s Divine Bone—as things that should belong to her 4 9 42.

Her stated aim is power for her own safety and independence, not protection of the world. She later explains that reaching the Mahayana Stage showed her how differently people treated a woman they respected for her strength 220 286.

Past-life knowledge

• Remembers people, opportunities, and events from her previous life and uses that knowledge to seek allies and resources 69 145.
• Her knowledge becomes less reliable as events diverge; the hairpin reaches her again, but Si Le does not awaken as she expects 212.

Demonic Dual Cultivation

• Drains a partner’s spiritual power or vital essence to accelerate her own cultivation 116 122 123.
• Rapidly raises her Qi Refining level but depletes Qu Cang. The system warns that beginning this method at Qi Refining, rather than Golden Core as in the original story, could prove fatal to her 122 124.

• Immortal Ziyang — Ran’s mother. She offers Ran care and cultivation resources, but grows aware that Ran distrusts and uses her 21 22 59.
• Li Zi — Rival whose Divine Bone Ran covets. Li Zi repeatedly disrupts her plans; much later, they agree to cooperate against Si Le 2 220 286.
• Fu Chaoqing — Distant relative whom Ran calls “Uncle Fu.” A possible future in which he sacrifices his life for her does not come to pass in the events shown; he later rejects her attempts to cast Li Zi as a bully 4 17 67.
• Bao Yuanwu — Helps secure Ran’s return to the Spirit Sword Sect, while increasingly scrutinizing her conduct and keeping physical boundaries 60 68.
• Qu Cang — Devoted to Ran, but she drains him through Dual Cultivation; he is later found dead 116 122 123.
