Background

In her previous life, Fang Yao was an orphan raised in a children’s home. After finding work, she regularly bought gifts for the younger children and visited the woman who had raised them. A couple pushed her into traffic, killing her; an Underworld Emissary then told her that her soul had been taken by mistake. Unable to return to her former life or proceed through reincarnation, she was placed in another woman’s body 5.

The body’s original owner had lost her parents and been raised by her grandfather. After his death, she died by suicide and went on to reincarnation. Shortly before he died, her grandfather and Bo Hanmo’s grandfather had arranged and registered her marriage to Bo Hanmo, leaving the newly arrived Fang Yao to discover she was already his wife 3 5.

Fang Yao initially sought a divorce settlement and a life independent of the Bo family.
