Background / History
Creation and rise as Human Emperor
Huang Tian was condensed from an innate Dao body left behind by Qin Mu. Though he is Qin Mu's avatar, he is an independent existence capable of cultivating freely; Huang Tian chose his own name upon awakening and was entrusted with the Human Emperor Technique. 92
The innate Dao body was left behind after Nuwa created humanity and was subsequently nurtured into Huang Tian. The divine ability responsible for his creation allows Qin Mu to produce three independent avatars that can continue advancing in cultivation, feed their gains back to the Original Body, and serve as a means of reviving Qin Mu if his true body perishes. 69 137
After returning to the Human Race, Huang Tian challenged Suiren Shi, Youchao Shi, and Ziyi Shi for leadership. He defeated all three and became the Co-Lord of Humanity, later revered across the human tribes as the Human Emperor. Humanity's Fortune subsequently raised him into the Grand Luo Golden Immortal realm. 94 102 103
Founder of the Martial Dao
Seeking a path suited to humans rather than borrowed methods from other races, Huang Tian used the Human Emperor Technique as a foundation to create the Martial Dao. He personally transmitted the Martial Dao True Explanation to the Three Human Ancestors, enabling them to reach Martial Dao Reaches Divinity through their existing foundations. 102
His Dao Discussion with Taishang refined his understanding, particularly regarding the still-incomplete final realm of Shattering the Void. 103
Protector of Human Race interests
When Taishang needed Humanity's Fortune to establish a sect and attain sainthood, Huang Tian accepted only on the condition that the Ren Teachings serve as a Protector Teaching, rather than a Main Teaching that controlled humanity. Taishang agreed, attained sainthood, granted three Innate Spiritual Treasures to the Human Race, and accepted three humans selected by Huang Tian as disciples. 111 112
Huang Tian also negotiated with Ao Guang and the Four Seas Dragon Race during a devastating drought. In exchange for rain across human territories, the Dragon Race gained merit and an opportunity to reduce its karmic debt. 116 117
He remembered the Dragon Race's assistance even though the arrangement had benefited both sides. When the Dragon Race later faced danger on the East Sea battlefield, Huang Tian discussed intervention with Zhen Yuanzi but judged that the time to act had not yet arrived. 271
Human-Witch alliance
Huang Tian endorsed unions between humans and members of the Wu Clan, recognizing that Human-Witch descendants possessed exceptionally strong bodies. He approved Da Yi and Chang'e's marriage alliance, officiating alongside Houtu at Kongtong Mountain. 137 140
The wedding received immense Heavenly Dao merit. Huang Tian distributed his own share among the Human Race, allowing many humans to overcome cultivation bottlenecks and strengthening Humanity's Fortune. 141
He advised Houtu to retain her own merit, privately anticipating its usefulness when she would later transform into Samsara. He did not explain this future development to her, but she nevertheless followed his advice. 141
Support for Qin Mu on Taiyin Star
When Qin Mu attacked Taiyin Star to disrupt Dijun's intended Heavenly Marriage with Xi He, Huang Tian observed the battle from Kongtong Mountain. Aware of Qin Mu's relationship with Xi He, he had already considered intervening in the marriage and resolved to support his Original Body after witnessing the confrontation. 149
Human-Demon War and revival of the fallen
When the Demon Race slaughtered humans, Huang Tian descended to save Suiren Shi from Demon God Fei Lian. He severely wounded Fei Lian with the Human Emperor's Spear and mobilized the Human Race to march on the Demon Race's Heavenly Realm. 200 202 205
Eastern Emperor Taiyi used the Eastern Emperor Bell to block Huang Tian's second spear strike and rescue Fei Lian. Huang Tian then announced that humanity would attack Lingxiao Palace in three days. 202
Although Huang Tian knew the Demon Race's purpose in slaughtering humans, he did not use that knowledge to solicit the full strength of the Wu Clan. He intended the campaign to establish the Human Race's own might rather than make its victory dependent on its allies. During the fighting, he killed one of two Demon Gods opposing him before turning to confront Dijun. 205 206 209
After the war, in which Suiren Shi and numerous human elites died, Huang Tian entered the Underworld. With Yin Tianzi's assistance, he restored Suiren Shi and the fallen human elites to life, returning them to Kongtong Mountain. 214 216 217
Commemoration of humanity's heroic spirits
Huang Tian later gathered the human tribes at Kongtong Mountain to announce three major matters. Billions of humans worshipped him, displaying a unity that drew the attention of Saints and other Primordial Great Powers. 237 238
The first matter was to honor humanity's fallen warriors. Huang Tian displayed scenes of the Human-Demon War and presided over a remembrance ritual involving Humanity's Hearth Cauldron. The Underworld's Ghost Gate Pass opened, allowing the heroic spirits of the fallen to emerge and meet their living relatives and fellow humans. 238 239
Deposition of Nuwa
Holding Nuwa responsible for neglecting the Human Race during the Demon Race's slaughter, Huang Tian gathered the Three Human Ancestors and tribal leaders to remove her as Humanity's Holy Mother. He sought Taishang's support before publicly advancing the decision, framing it as the Human Race's right to self-determination. 217 218 221 239
At the gathering of the human tribes, he announced the deposition as the second of his three major matters, declaring that Nuwa would also be stripped of the Human Race's Fortune. 239
Despite their earlier conflict, Huang Tian later assigned Nuwa one of the Three Sovereigns' positions during the deliberations over the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, allowing her to participate in the resulting merit. 390 391
Teacher of Cangjie
Huang Tian recognized Cangjie as a figure of destiny and took him as a disciple. For a century, he guided Cangjie to study the forms and patterns of nature rather than directly supplying answers. 254
He later bestowed two personally refined Merit Spiritual Treasures upon Cangjie: a brush that defines forms through writing and a book that preserves knowledge for eternity. 255
Stewardship of the Human Emperor Realm
As the Human Race became the protagonist race of the Primordial World, Huang Tian continued to oversee its affairs from the Human Emperor Realm alongside Zhen Yuanzi and the leading figures of humanity. 376 503
At Zixiao Palace, Huang Tian proposed the allocation of merit opportunities connected to the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors: Taishang, Yuanshi, and Nuwa received the Three Sovereigns' positions; the Western Teachings received one Five Emperor position; and Tongtian's Jie Teachings received the remaining four. 390 391
During Xuanyuan's contest with the Yan Emperor, Huang Tian noted that the challenger possessed a Golden Crow aura despite being human. He suspected that someone had deliberately introduced the rival to interfere with the Heavenly Origin Sect's plans and indicated the Western Lands when Fuxi asked who was responsible. 437
He also approved Di Zun's request to invite Fuxi to the Heavenly Realm to help reforge the Zhou Tian Star Dou Great Formation, while leaving the final choice to Fuxi himself. 442
Huang Tian and Zhen Yuanzi later approved the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors' plan to assist Shang Tang against Jie of Xia. Huang Tian knew that Shang Tang was destined to overthrow the Xia Dynasty and establish Shang rule. 592
When a later Human Emperor was fated to emerge amid obscured Heavenly Secrets, Huang Tian refused to have the Human Race's senior authorities intervene, judging that the newcomer possessed his own destined path. 598
Contest for Hongmeng Purple Qi
When another strand of Hongmeng Purple Qi appeared, Fuxi and the other human leaders wished Huang Tian to contend for it. Di Zun visited the Human Emperor Realm to propose cooperation between humanity and the Eastern Heavenly Court, and Huang Tian agreed to the alliance. He did not claim to know whether Qin Mu himself intended to intervene. 656 657
The allied forces subsequently fought the Western Heavenly Court. Huang Tian, the Three Sovereigns, and the Eastern Heavenly Court's experts were defeated, while Zhen Yuanzi continued resisting Jie Yin and Zhun Ti after the others lost the ability to fight. 663
Union with the Human Dao
At an unspecified point after his long stewardship of humanity, Huang Tian ceased directly concerning himself with ordinary worldly affairs and became one with the Human Dao. This made him a living representative of humanity's collective Fortune, civilization, and moral principles. 763 764
Defense of Yang Jian
Long after becoming one with the Human Dao, Huang Tian intervened when Haotian, Jie Yin, and Zhun Ti attempted to suppress Yang Jian. He established Yang Jian's standing as a member of the Human Race through his human father, Yang Tianyou, then defended filial piety as a principle of the Human Dao. 763 764
Huang Tian healed Yang Jian and fought the three Saint incarnations alone with the Human Dao powers Kindling and Self-Strengthening, creating the opening Yang Jian needed to launch his decisive attempt to split Peach Mountain. 764 765
When Primordial Heavenly Venerate personally appeared and stopped Yang Jian's attack, Huang Tian remained composed while facing Haotian, Jie Yin, Zhun Ti, and Primordial Heavenly Venerate. 765
Qin Mu's subsequent appearance and acknowledgment of Huang Tian further exposed the connection between the Human Emperor and his Original Body. The opposing Saints recognized that Qin Mu's avatars gave him influence over humanity, the Heavenly Court, and the Underworld. 766
Support for Great Shang
After Great Shang's defeat at Three Mountains Pass, Huang Tian ordered five former Human Emperors to descend to Chaoge and provide assistance. Xuanyuan, leading the delegation, declared that they had come under the orders of Huang Tian, the Sage Emperor of the Human Race, to aid Great Shang, repel foreign enemies, and protect humanity's bloodline. 825
Di Xin understood their arrival as support arranged through his master Qin Mu's avatar. Huang Tian's ability to command the reclusive former emperors demonstrated his continuing authority over the Human Race despite his earlier withdrawal from ordinary worldly affairs. 825
Appearance
Huang Tian resembles Qin Mu by roughly seventy to eighty percent. His presence is defined by Imperial Dragon Qi, Martial Dao true meaning, and a vast blood-and-qi aura. 92 103 137
- Stars seem to turn within his eyes when his power rises. 102
- His blood and qi coil around him like dragons. 102 137
- He manifests a towering Martial Dao dharma form during breakthroughs. 137
- His Imperial Dragon Qi gives him the bearing of a Heavenly Emperor descending into the mortal world. 103
- Upon wielding Human Dao power, illusory figures of human sages and a Golden Dragon of Humanity's Fortune may manifest around him. 764
Personality
Huang Tian is calm, direct, and politically shrewd. He negotiated with Taishang without yielding Humanity's independence, openly setting the condition that the Ren Teachings remain subordinate to the Human Race as a Protector Teaching. 111
His rulership is defined by responsibility toward humanity. He shares cultivation insights with the Three Human Ancestors, distributes earned merit among the people, honors the Human-Demon War dead, and risks entering the Underworld to restore fallen human elites. 137 141 214 238
He is also uncompromising toward those who harm the Human Race. During the Human-Demon War, he vowed retaliation against the Demon Race; later, he openly challenged Heavenly Court authority to protect Yang Jian's filial attempt to save his mother. 202 763 764
Huang Tian is pragmatic in matters of Human Race Fortune. His distribution of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors' merit opportunities favored the Jie Teachings while still granting positions to the other Saint factions, including Nuwa and the Western Teachings. 390 391
He believes that humanity cannot prosper through the strength of one individual alone. His transmission of breakthrough insights and distribution of merit were intended to strengthen the entire race and allow capable humans to pass those benefits onward. 137 141
His knowledge of future developments does not make him regard every destined course as immutable. He told Zhen Yuanzi that certain matters were decreed by Heaven, but that their course could nevertheless change. 653

Human Emperor's Spear
A divine ability rather than an ordinary weapon, forged from Huang Tian's Human Emperor Dao Fruit, Humanity's beliefs, and the fighting spirit of countless humans. 202
- Materializes as an ancient golden spear carrying immense Human Dao killing power. 202
- Severely injured Demon God Fei Lian with a single thrust. 202
- Can draw power from the Human Race's River of Fortune and its collective will. 209
- His strongest recorded thrust was capable of killing ordinary Quasi-Saints, though it was annihilated by Dijun's stellar power. 209
- Killed a Demon God during the Human-Demon War while Huang Tian was fighting two such opponents. 209
Human Dao: Kindling and Self-Strengthening
Human Dao powers used during Huang Tian's battle against Haotian, Jie Yin, and Zhun Ti. 764
- Kindling — manifests the first fire of Human Race civilization, representing hope, inheritance, and humanity's refusal to perish; it dissolved Buddhist light and burned through Haotian's sword net. 764
- Self-Strengthening — a fist technique embodying humanity's unyielding will to stand between Heaven and Earth; it countered Zhun Ti's Seven Treasures Wonderful Tree and empowered Huang Tian's offensive momentum. 764
- These powers allowed Huang Tian to suppress three Saint incarnations simultaneously. 764
- The Golden Dragon manifested behind him attacked Haotian with its tail, wielding the collective mind-power of billions upon billions of humans while Kindling and his fist intent prevented Jie Yin and Zhun Ti from intervening. 764
Fortune control and restoration
- Drew a Golden Thread of Destiny from the Golden Dragon surrounding him to establish the Ren Teachings' relationship with the Human Race without surrendering humanity's independence. 111
- Dispersed his wedding merit as golden raindrops into hundreds of millions of humans, helping them advance in cultivation. 141
- Poured a vast surge of life force into Yang Jian, healing him and providing energy that subsequently fused with Yang Jian's blood, qi, and magical power during his attempt to split Peach Mountain. 764 765
- His union with the Human Dao made an attack against him an act of opposition to the Human Dao itself, imposing a grave karmic burden on powers dependent on humanity's Fortune or faith. 764
Martial Dao Transmission
Huang Tian does not keep his discoveries for himself.
- Passed the Martial Dao True Explanation to Suiren Shi, Youchao Shi, and Ziyi Shi. 102
- Shared his breakthrough insights after entering Martial Dao Reaches Divinity so the Three Human Ancestors could cultivate further. 137
- Guided Cangjie through observation of nature, laying the groundwork for the creation of human script. 254
Knowledge of future developments
As Qin Mu's avatar, Huang Tian possesses knowledge of events and hidden circumstances unavailable to many other Primordial powers. His demonstrated awareness includes:
- Houtu's future transformation into Samsara. 141
- The Demon Race's purpose in slaughtering humans. 200 205 206
- The role of the ten Golden Crow princes in intensifying the Wu-Demon conflict. 344
- Shang Tang's destined overthrow of the Xia Dynasty. 592
- The approaching Calamity of Investiture of the Gods. 598
His independent existence does not grant him complete knowledge of his Original Body's or fellow avatars' current intentions. He did not initially know why Di Zun had visited the Human Emperor Realm to request Fuxi's assistance, and he likewise declined to claim knowledge of Qin Mu's plans during the Hongmeng Purple Qi contest. 442 657
