Background

Aokiji was born into the Uchiha Clan and inherited Ice Release from his mother rather than from the clan itself. His parents and grandmother died while he was still young, leaving the clan’s expectations for his dual Kekkei Genkai potential overshadowed by loss. He was sent to the Ninja Academy partly to help him recover. 2 40

At the Academy, Aokiji deliberately cultivated a lazy, pacifistic image. He believed that an outstanding Uchiha would inevitably attract suspicion and hostility, so he concealed his abilities while privately training at night. 2

He initially sought the safer path of a Medical Ninja because he feared death and did not want to become battlefield fodder. His serious attention to medical lessons contrasted with his habitual sleeping in ordinary classes. 19 21

Personality

Aokiji presents himself as shamelessly lazy, unserious, and conflict-averse, often calling himself a pacifist. This façade is partly a survival strategy: he prefers not to draw attention before he can protect himself. 2
