Background / History

According to Li Zifan, the Dragon Tamer attended the same academy as Gu Yuetao. After graduating, he declared his ambition to become a Dragon-type Elite Four member and command the power of dragons. He subsequently devoted himself to training and exploring wilderness regions and forbidden areas around the world 863.

Gu Yuetao interpreted his failure to reject her advances as reciprocated affection and became a Dragon-type Breeder to support him. When she eventually confessed directly, he told her that he had always regarded her as a younger sister. She later married abroad and pursued a career as a Fairy-type Elite Four member, intending to settle the score with him 863.

By his introduction, the Dragon Tamer is a nationally celebrated League powerhouse. His public reputation places him second only to the Champion, and some admirers believe his presence alone guarantees that a Legendary Pokémon can be subdued 191 610.

Appearance

  • Build: Tall, imposing, and considered handsome 191 863.
  • Hair: Short red hair, distinctive enough for Ye Qing to recognize him immediately 191 300.
  • Usual clothing: A black cape and a necklace whose pendant activates Mega Evolution 191 232.
  • Off-duty clothing: Casual clothes and a baseball cap used to conceal his conspicuous hair 665.

Personality

The Dragon Tamer usually maintains an aloof, unsmiling public demeanor. Spectators are astonished when he smiles at Ye Qing, noting that he does not even smile during television interviews. His familiarity with Ye Qing gradually reveals a more relaxed side, including dry jokes and teasing 227 512 683 999.

He strongly dislikes troublesome assignments and repeatedly protests when missions interrupt his vacations. Nevertheless, concern for civilians overrides his reluctance: he accepts the Longquan Town investigation because people are trapped, then enters a space-time rift to reach them 221 591 673 676 810.

His confidence is backed by a willingness to intervene personally. He steps forward against Mewtwo and continues fighting Dark Mega Blaziken despite being pushed into a disadvantage. He also acknowledges practical limits, including opponents his Pokémon cannot overpower and decisions that require the Champion’s authorization 232 315 317 432.

His support for Ye Qing develops from interest in a promising recruit into investment in the League’s next generation. During the Jirachi crisis, he also questions the morality of treating a Pokémon’s wishes as a resource, recognizing that those pursuing Jirachi have become the aggressors 227 732 949.
