Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Wind spirit 117 Manifested from the thousand winds through the Gunnhildr clan’s prayers. Initially could only clear a small patch of blizzard to shelter them.
God — Barbatos 117 Received a surge of divine power when Decarabian died. Used it to take the appearance of his deceased human friend.
Anemo Archon 117 140 Became the remaining candidate after Andrius declined the seat. His divine winds reshaped Mondstadt’s terrain and climate.
Increased faith-supported power 72 After his intervention in Dvalin’s rescue became known, more people prayed at the Cathedral. Ellin identifies this renewed faith as evidence that he had grown stronger.

Background / History

Venti originated in the frozen lands surrounding old Mondstadt roughly 2,600 years before the present story. Decarabian, the God of Storms, enclosed his capital within a wind wall and prescribed his subjects’ lives. After leaving that confinement, the Gunnhildr clan faced lethal blizzards; their prayers brought forth the small wind spirit who would become Barbatos 117.

The wind spirit helped lead the rebellion against Decarabian. His human friend died in the struggle, asking him to fly, see the world, and reach the heavens in his place. Upon gaining divine power, Venti adopted the boy’s appearance to fulfill that wish 117.

As Anemo Archon, he scattered the snow, cleaved mountains, leveled cliffs, and brought warm breezes to Mondstadt. He then withdrew rather than rule the nation he had liberated. Having witnessed tyranny, he wished to preserve his people’s freedom and feared that erosion might eventually turn him into another tyrant 117.

His first visit to Morax was simply to offer Mondstadt’s Dandelion Wine. He continued visiting Liyue afterward, and gatherings of the Seven Archons became occasions for sharing their nations’ drinks 161.

The war five hundred years earlier changed the Seven, including the Cryo Archon. Venti later supported the Tsaritsa’s undisclosed objective, hoping she could find another path forward for the world 72.

Appearance

  • Human form: Resembles the unnamed boy who died during Mondstadt’s rebellion; Venti states that he has never changed this form since adopting it 45 117.
  • Clothing: Green cape and green hat with white trim 37.
  • Eyes and hair: Turquoise eyes; two braids that glow teal or cyan when he channels substantial Anemo power 65 67 71.
  • Cecilia: Wears his old friend’s favorite flower on his hat 117.
  • Feather keepsake: A bird’s feather hangs beneath his false Vision—the gift he never had the chance to give that friend 117.

Personality

Venti is playful, irreverent, and quick to tease both friends and enemies. He recognizes Ellin’s attempts at deception almost immediately and attributes his insight to a bard’s familiarity with human hearts. He prefers being addressed as “Venti” rather than treated formally as a god or master 44 45 46 59.

Alcohol readily wins his cooperation: Special Apple Cider persuades him to teach Ellin, while Jack’s promise of rare wine secures his help with an adventuring request. Even so, his affection for his people outweighs his taste—he drinks Jack’s spoiled cider because he refuses to reject their offering 46 110 116.

His carefree conduct conceals a dependable protector. He intervenes when Mondstadt is threatened, and Ellin trusts him with knowledge of her reincarnation and the world’s created nature because he is serious about matters of right and wrong. He also respects her privacy, declining to investigate the power behind her newly acquired divine core 37 118 163.

Venti’s enduring wound is loneliness rather than an inability to accept his friend’s death. Fear of losing another companion led him to remain alone for a thousand years, entertaining himself with childlike games. Ellin’s promise to grow stronger and live longer gives him the companionship he had avoided seeking 118 119.

Abilities & Skills

Anemo Authority

Venti controls Anemo without a Vision; as a wind spirit, elemental control is inherent to him 51 72.

  • Pushing: Compresses wind and releases it to launch targets away 46.
  • Rotation: Creates rapidly spinning vortices that tear targets apart 46.
  • Divine wind pressure: Pins Dvalin to a tower platform, preventing him from flying 68.
  • Large-scale storms: Forms a protective Storm Barrier around Mondstadt and shreds airborne monsters with summoned gales 390 450.
  • Terrain alteration: Historically dispersed blizzards and cut through mountains and cliffs to make Mondstadt habitable 117.
  • Limit: Suppressing Dvalin nearly exhausts him; his divine attire flickers as the dragon resists 68.

Thousand-Year Flowing Wind

Venti grants wind-supported flight and supplies allies with Anemo they can use directly 48 51 63.

  • Keeps Ellin and Lumine airborne during their first battle with Stormterror 51.
  • Carries the rescue party to the summit of Stormterror’s Lair 63.
  • Teaches Jean and Lumine to maintain flight with less direct assistance 64.
  • Suspends Ellin’s protective ice shell and supports the group while they charge attacks 65.
  • Draws scattered allies toward him with a powerful vortex 65.

Wind Protection and Healing

Venti uses wind defensively, both for individuals and entire groups.

  • Flowing Wind’s Protection: Clears moisture and thunderclouds around Diluc, reducing the shocks caused by Dvalin’s Finale of the Sky. Its thin shield cannot clear clouds effectively during rapid flight 67.
  • Wind Barrier: Sweeps away attacks aimed at his companions during a battle with Abyss Mages 353.
  • Flowing Wind Barrier: Surrounds the private discussion in which Zhongli learns Ellin’s secrets 162.
  • Healing Wind: Uses his divine power to save Ellin from the brink of death 119 162.
  • Healing limit: Anemo healing restores less stamina than it costs to cast; recovery is not wind’s primary property 80.

Divine Age Archery

Venti’s “archery” is Anemo-driven projectile control disguised as conventional bowmanship. He admits that he does not know how to shoot a bow and only pretends to draw and fire to avoid suspicion 51.

  • Propels arrows with wind rather than relying on a bowstring 51.
  • Demonstrates rapid firing and simultaneous three-arrow shots 51.
  • Inspires Ellin to propel conjured Cryo arrows without using a bow 51.
  • Later fires an Anemo-laden arrow with a wind column nearly a meter thick, killing dozens of Abyss Mages along its path 353.

Music, Storytelling, and Souls

Venti is described as Teyvat’s finest bard. His performances preserve heroes’ deeds and possess supernatural effects 116.

  • His wind guides the souls of Mondstadt’s dead; this lets him recognize that the original Ellin died as another soul entered her body 45.
  • His lyre can play the song of High Heaven, while the stories he spreads can help guide lost souls home 116.
  • His flute once calmed Xiao when he nearly lost control, saving his life 126 127.
  • Accompanies Ellin’s Soul-Cleansing Bell and Taoist chants, soothing fear, agitation, and worry throughout the audience 126 127.
  • Reads lingering Abyss magic and uses his lyre to break the barrier surrounding Stormterror’s Lair 63.

Anemo Instruction

Venti teaches Ellin to use wind’s pushing and rotational properties instead of merely releasing gusts. Within four days, she learns Windriding, Compressed Wind Blade, and Storm Vortex 46.

  • Helps develop her defensive and offensive Anemo techniques through continued discussion 59.
  • Recognizes the strengths and stamina limits of her large-area attacks 62.
  • Recommends fighting powerful opponents when she struggles to control her Wind God’s Divine Core, directing her to Wolvendom’s Trial Ground 131.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Lyre — Used for performances, wind blessings, barrier-breaking, and large-scale storms 63 390 450.
  • Bow — Maintains the appearance of ordinary archery while Anemo actually propels his arrows 51.
  • False Anemo Vision — A glowing glass ball worn at his waist to conceal that he can wield elemental power without a Vision 51.
  • Flute — Produces soul-soothing music and accompanies Ellin’s ceremonial performance 126 127.
  • Anemo Gnosis — formerly held — Taken by La Signora with his deliberate acquiescence. It linked him to Celestia and provided an additional boost, but was not the source of his inherent Anemo power 71 72.
  • Lisa’s monocles — Used with Ellin to observe Imaginary Friends, including the figure accompanying Stanley 109 110.

Relationships

  • Ellin — Student and dearest friend. He accepts her as one of Mondstadt’s people despite her otherworldly origin, rejects formal master–student labels, and supports her growth into a god. Her promise of lasting companionship ends the need for his Imaginary Friend 45 59 118 119 403.
  • Unnamed boy — First true friend, whose appearance Venti adopted after his death. The boy’s wish to see the world remains central to Venti’s identity 117 118.
  • Dvalin — Familiar and longtime companion. Venti refuses to abandon him to Abyss corruption and restores his familiar power after his rescue, encouraging him to find his own freedom 44 69.
  • Zhongli / Morax — Old friend and frequent target of teasing. Their bickering coexists with genuine affection; Venti also thanks him for guiding Ellin 161 164.
  • Lumine — Ally in Dvalin’s rescue. He supports her aerial combat and later identifies Aether’s connection to the Abyss at the staged wedding 51 64 137.
  • Jean and Diluc — Companions in the dragon rescue and later battles. He protects them when they can no longer fight and encourages Diluc to trust his allies 67 353.
  • Tsaritsa — Supports her objective and deliberately allows his Gnosis to reach her through an apparent theft 72.
  • La Signora — Assailant who wounds him and takes his Gnosis. His cooperation with the transfer does not imply forgiveness; he respects Ellin’s decision to retaliate 71 72.
  • Xiao — Previously saved through Venti’s calming flute music 126 127.
  • Azhdaha — Old drinking companion whose history Venti helps publicize in Liyue 297 298.
  • Ei — Fellow god reunited with him at Qingyun Peak. He and Zhongli initially avoid intruding on her uncertainty, then welcome Ellin’s arrangement for them to meet 366.
