Power Progression
Grand Authorities develop through increasing mastery, often measured by their accumulated base divinity limit. Their advancement requirements are not completely uniform: Disaster reaches its second stage through collecting Minor Authorities, while several other authorities unlock Phase Two at 100,000 base divinity limit 1109 1548.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Disaster — Phase Two | 1109 | Collecting all nine Disaster Minor Authorities unlocks Disaster Domain and Disaster Blessing. |
| Sunlight — Phase Two | 1575 | Confirmed to have advanced; its development establishes that a new phase can also improve an associated Primordial Talent. |
| Chaos — Phase Two | 1672 | Reaches 102,000 base divinity limit. Attacks gain an irreducible percentage-based chaos affix; affected targets cannot clear their chaos gauge except through death. |
| Death — Phase Two | 1673 | Reaches 165,000 base divinity limit. Unlocks absorption of Lake of Death energy through the Death Observation Room and improves its associated talent. |
| Disaster — Third Stage | 1773 | Absorbs Extreme Cold, unlocking Zero-Degree Freeze, Boundless Bone-Piercing Cold, and Eternal Ice Prison. |
| Illusion — Phase Two | 1878 | Trapping Bonana’s soul in an illusion, with growth doubled by Focus, unlocks Illusory Forgetting. |
| Art — Phase Two | 1930 | Its documented second-stage function analyzes a target comprehensively, including their mastery of Grand Authorities. |
| Art — Third Stage | 1930 | Bai Xian’s authority can analyze changes in spacetime’s fundamental energy structure to reconstruct past events. |
| Growth — Third Stage | 1992 | Lulu’s authority provides passive recovery and flesh reconstruction, with active acceleration available for herself and others. |
| Oath — Phase Two | 2102 2103 | Qin Feng can view Oath Lines throughout the game. Broken oaths no longer reduce its accumulated base divinity limit. |
| Divine Water and Projection — Third Stage | 2179 | Little Tail has developed both authorities to this stage before sharing them with Qin Feng. |
| Extreme Love — Fourth / Final Stage | 2203 | Already mastered by this point. Grants Qin Feng a resurrection method described as more reliable than unconditional resurrection counts and extends unconditional resurrection to his believers. |
| Offering and Thorn — Third Stage | 2279 | Xiao Kongmeng has accumulated over 400,000 base divinity limit in each when Qin Feng shares them. |
- Early unlocks: Chaos initially lists 10,000 stored divinity limit as its next-stage requirement; Judgment unlocks Blessing Judgment at 10,000 1150 1575.
- Common Phase Two threshold: Qin Feng identifies 100,000 authority-provided divinity limit as a threshold for new functions 1548 1568.
- Final-stage benchmark: At 976,542 accumulated base divinity limit, Soul is described as close to its fourth and final stage 2203.
- Branching development: Greater mastery can produce specialized functions beyond an authority’s initially known applications 2274.
Nature and Origins
Grand Authorities existed at the birth of the universe. As living races multiplied, authorities drew close to beings suited to controlling them, creating the possibility of those beings becoming their wielders 2241.
An authority is not merely a powerful skill. It is energy organized into fixed rules and operating methods connected to the universe. Its wielder supplies divinity, while the authority performs the complex calculations and energy transfers required to execute its functions 1255 2051.
Ileinasi provides a documented example of authorities emerging through extreme circumstances: her angel and demon personalities gave rise to Extreme Love and desirelessness, respectively. Their uncontrolled use devastated her family and the Ancient Angel and Ancient Demon clans 850 1219.
Connection to the Universe
- Every Grand Authority has its own energy-operating pattern and continuously couples with the universe, even when inactive 1895.
- Within this universe, an authority can theoretically cover the entire universe, because it is connected to every part of its space 2241.
- Judgment and Illusion are specifically described as operating across the universe and through time and space 924.
- Universal connection does not mean every authority has unrestricted remote activation. Ducard’s Abyss Grand Authority cannot be activated remotely 1825.
Relationship to Lesser Authorities
- Qin Feng initially distinguishes Minor Authorities, which provide stacking attributes, from Grand Authorities, whose divinity growth separates successors from ordinary players 924.
- Lesser authorities can belong to a Grand Authority’s wider system. Disaster’s nine Minor Authorities collectively provide bonuses across nine elements and unlock its second phase 1109.
- The hierarchy is not identical for every domain: Emperor has no High Minor Authorities or Minor Authorities 1088.
- Chaos, Judgment, and Fate are identified among the highest authorities; Chaos is explicitly called one of the nine supreme authorities 2328.
Divinity and Growth
Accumulating Divinity Limit
Most documented Grand Authorities increase their wielder’s divinity limit through activities associated with their domain. Growth usually has diminishing returns, and stronger targets can yield larger gains 1150 1371 1930.
| Authority | Documented growth method |
|---|---|
| Illusion | Trap targets in illusions 1220. |
| Bone | Gain the allegiance of Bone Lifeform populations 1220. |
| Chaos | Kill enemies carrying chaos gauges; kills against fully chaotic targets yield greater gains 1150. |
| Soul | Establish soul believers 1405. |
| Death | Kill targets through the authority 1418. |
| Sunlight | Accumulate divinity limit continuously over time 1434. |
| Limit Break | Possess more range-based numerical attributes 1620. |
| Extreme Cold, after fusion | Keep targets suspended by Zero-Degree Freeze 1773. |
| Sloth | Remain stationary; Qin Feng’s later talent changes his requirement to remaining out of combat 1808 1909. |
| Art | Perform Art Analysis or Art Creation on living beings 1930. |
| Adaptation | Suffer damage, control, or negative effects 2124. |
- Not every authority initially produces divinity: Disaster is described as a damage-spreading utility authority rather than a divinity source among Qin Feng’s first six authorities. Its later fusion grants a divinity-generating freezing ability 1220 1773.
- Highest Heaven adds another benefit: Authority-derived divinity limit also grants a percentage increase to divinity limit absorbed and converted from equipment 1548.
- More authorities do not automatically mean superior combat power: Four-dimensional attributes and divinity limit remain decisive. Qin Feng’s growing collection can primarily accelerate development rather than immediately increase fighting strength 2198.
Primordial Talents
- Grand Authorities can provide corresponding exclusive talents. Judgment supplies Qin Feng’s Infinite Evolution 1293.
- Players who obtain an authority after their civilization ascends can complete difficult solo temple missions to acquire its talent and raise it to Primordial 1784.
- Advancing an authority can strengthen its associated talent as well as unlock authority functions 1575 1673.
- Possessing an authority does not mean its talent has already been unlocked: Qin Feng has 22 authorities but only 12 corresponding Primordial Talents at one documented point 1855.
Acquisition and Vessels
Inheritance and Challenges
- Legacy trials: Qin Feng obtains Extreme Love through a restraint-focused challenge and desirelessness through Ileinasi’s legacy trial 1219 1259.
- Personality compatibility: Ordinary players cannot obtain an authority whose type does not match their personality. Qin Feng’s seized authorities are exceptions and remain subordinate tools rather than influencing him 1603.
- Trial-specific conditions: Desirelessness requires greed toward both the treasure and authority to remain at or below 1%. Complete absence of desire also fails, because Ileinasi’s successor must understand and empathize with desire 1259.
- Direct transfer: Yue Shangyan gives Qin Feng Chaos through the Mist of Chaos and offers further authorities in exchange for powerful souls 1150.
- Kill rewards: Sunlight comes from defeating World Spine · Nine Luminaries. Only the greatest contributor receives the Grand Authority; contributors ranked second through tenth receive its High Minor Authority 1434.
- Seizure: Successors can kill other successors and take their authorities. Night Shadow Gabriel acquires Wish and Revival this way 1359.
Authority Vessels
- Temporary item vessels: Qin Feng initially places Illusion in his bracelet, paralleling Judgment’s use of the Blade of Judgment 924.
- Targeting anchors: The Eye of Illusion uses its bracelet’s location in space and time to help pinpoint targets 924.
- Body-based vessels: Faith, Courage, and Growth become normally invisible symbols on Qin Feng’s arm, lighting up when used 1998.
- Companion equipment: World-Breaking grants its wielder the World-Breaking Sword 1477.
- Exclusive spaces are not universal: Chaos, Freedom, and Destruction lack such spaces because their Eldritch Gods died in the Mirror World before the Primordial Agreement. World-Breaking’s Eldritch God also left none 1605.
Sharing and Fusion
Shared Ownership
- Qin Feng and Gu Yixue jointly own Heart-Piercing. Subsequent base divinity growth accumulates for both, and an enemy seeking to seize it must completely kill both owners 1784.
- Sharing can require enormous divinity expenditure: Qin Feng is quoted 320 million divinity to share Limit Break again with Fist of Infinity 1852.
- Additional sharing slots unlock as Qin Feng’s divinity limit rises. The rate becomes more restrictive at higher totals rather than remaining fixed 2102 2197 2198.
- Sharing can benefit both parties’ development. After Qin Feng gains Luck, the high luck derived from his attributes also helps Black Plum Big Li accumulate the authority’s base divinity limit 2158.
Temporary Access
- The Myriad Phenomena Divine Lamp pools access rights voluntarily supplied by its owners 1521.
- Qin Feng finds more than ninety authorities available for single-use exchange through the lamp 1522.
- This differs from Myriad Manifestations, which simulates other Grand Authorities with weaker individual effects but exceptional versatility 1516.
Fusion
- Extreme Cold → Disaster: The first fusion Qin Feng encounters. It advances Disaster to its third stage 1773.
- Sloth → desirelessness: Sloth’s vessel merges into Qin Feng’s black wings after he obtains it 1808.
- Qin Feng infers that several elemental authorities have a subordinate relationship to Disaster. He specifically distinguishes Radiance and Dark Corrosion from the separate authorities named Light and Darkness 1773.
- Fusion does not erase an authority’s relevance to Qin Feng’s collection: Extreme Cold and Sloth remain listed among his authorities afterward 1855.
Abilities and Applications
| Authority | Principal documented functions |
|---|---|
| Judgment | Judges targets; Blessing Judgment can provide essentially permanent enhancements and modifications to both numerical values and game mechanics 1255 2001. |
| Chaos | Initially grants chaos immunity, bypasses ordinary chaos immunity, and strengthens chaos attacks. Later functions disable active authority/rule/order effects and turn fixed combat values into ranges 1150 1653. |
| Disaster | Strengthens allies, suppresses enemies, spreads damage, and permits merging into disaster in an untargetable state 1109 1220. |
| Illusion | Controls perceptions and constructs adaptive illusions. Illusory Forgetting temporarily removes a target’s awareness of skills, equipment effects, bloodline powers, and class traits 924 1255 1878. |
| Extreme Love | Manipulates living beings’ affection; its inheritance challenge is designed to prevent abuse 1219. |
| Desirelessness | Removes and stores desires, amplifies desires, and suppresses target attributes by up to 99% 1259. |
| Soul | Manipulates, modifies, and creates souls; converts damage into soul damage, revives targets, detects hidden souls, and establishes soul believers 1405. |
| Death | Resets death conditions or specifies a target’s time of death. Shorter countdowns and stronger targets increase divinity costs 1418. |
| Sunlight | Controls stars, improves attributes near them, halves divinity costs, and accelerates divinity recovery 1434. |
| World-Breaking | Deals barrier, ward, and shield damage equal to 15% of maximum durability while ignoring defenses; breaks them within at most seven attacks 1477. |
| Limit Break | Raises the bounds of range-based values; its active function can push a range far beyond its original maximum 1620. |
| Luck | Greatly raises the lower limits of probability-based values 2051. |
| Gravity | Manipulates gravity and creates Gravity Vortices. Its spatial effects can affect other successors without directly targeting their authority resistance 1678. |
| Art | Enhances allies’ methods, weakens enemies through structural analysis, and eventually reads traces left in spacetime 1930. |
| Oath | Administers allegiance between players, grants boons, senses breaches, punishes oathbreakers, and reveals allegiance networks through Oath Lines 2050 2102. |
| Contract | Establishes transactional contracts whose breaches receive punishment mandated through the Godforsaken Game 2050. |
| Growth | Restores and reconstructs flesh; cannot restore everything destroyed by methods targeting inanimate matter 1992. |
| Sacrifice | Trades sacrifices, including body parts, for temporary combat enhancements, special abilities, or increased rewards 2000 2001. |
| Faith | Converts followers’ belief into accumulating combat attributes and Divinity Influence 1990. |
| Plague, Corrosion, and Wither | Respectively spread debilitating infection, erode defenses and buffs, and suppress damage output according to divinity expenditure 2105 2106. |
| Adaptation | Builds resistance through repeated exposure to damage, affixes, control, and weakening effects 2124. |
| Thorn | Blocks or reflects effects, including Secret-Peering probes 2274. |
| Unique | Develops method-specific counters, including resistance to repeated debuffs and eventual countermeasures against shields or invincibility. Multiple authorities sharply weaken its effectiveness 2314 2326. |
Notable Combinations
- Chaos + Limit Break + Luck: Apollotes describes this as an allegedly invincible combination 1583.
- Growth + Sacrifice: Rapidly replaces sacrificed body parts, allowing Qin Feng to prepare buffs exceeding a hundredfold overall combat-power increase. Full preparation still takes several minutes 2001.
- Focus + another authority: Accelerates the selected authority’s mastery growth; Qin Feng initially doubles Illusion’s gains and later reaches a 2.6-times improvement rate 1878 1909.
- Oath + Extreme Love: Combines allegiance lines with visible worship relationships to investigate networks of loyalty 2102.
Limitations and Counterplay
Resistance and Divinity Costs
- Grand Authorities possess interconnected safeguards compared to firewalls, giving successors high resistance to certain other authorities 2002.
- Resistance is not universal immunity. Gravity can alter physical space, while Secret-Peering can affect much higher-level successors lacking an appropriate protective authority 1678 2274.
- Emotion-based authorities become prohibitively expensive against sufficiently strong targets; most successors cannot readily manipulate peers of their own level 2080.
- Strong attributes can prevent complete information extraction. Qin Feng cannot uncover the Unique Sword God’s full secrets through Secret-Peering because the opponent’s attributes are too high 2314.
Specific Counters
- Illusion: Truth and Insight are known to expose its disguises. Raw combat strength alone does not necessarily suffice 2274.
- Negative effects: Light Protection and Purity provide relevant defenses; Protection may have similar functions, though Qin Feng has not confirmed its details 2274.
- Reflection: Repeated Secret-Peering exchanges against Thorn consume divinity on both sides, turning the encounter into a recovery-rate contest 2274.
- Adaptation: Cannot adapt to certain special killing conditions or prevent a lethal first hit 2124.
- Unique: With multiple Grand Authorities, its costs increase and its countering effect falls to one percent of normal; some mastery enhancements also become unavailable 2326.
Role in the Godforsaken Game
The struggle between Grand Authority Successors is described as the essence of the Godforsaken Game. In the Land of Order, authorities determine affairs even though most temple powerhouses have never personally encountered a successor 1088 1096.
Qin Feng suspects the game is attempting to produce a player who possesses every Grand Authority. Separately, the authorities’ shared connection to the universe’s origin leads him to wonder whether they were once a single supreme existence. Both remain interpretations rather than confirmed origins 984 2002.
Successor Warfare
- Coordinates are critical: An exposed successor can be attacked remotely by numerous authorities at once 1325 2105.
- Alliances do not guarantee trust: Even allied successors generally conceal their locations from one another and avoid meeting in person 1325.
- Resurrection must be accounted for: Successors may retain unconditional resurrection counts; Qin Feng uses Mutual Destruction to consume an opponent’s remaining counts before finishing them 2105.
- Last Words weaponizes exposure: Its curse repeatedly reveals the Thunder Successor’s location, including his chosen resurrection coordinates 1935.
- Information gathering is a strategic advantage: The Void Alliance identifies the Dark Shadow Association’s reconnaissance methods as its most dangerous asset behind its rapid accumulation of authorities 2154.
- Possession can become a liability: The Gravity Successor comes to regard her authority as a possible curse, knowing that far older successors may eventually hunt her 1686.
