Background / History

Ancient Ziwei Sect

Wuliang Dao existed for more than thirty thousand years before He Mu’s rise. Its reputation extended throughout Ziwei, and it ruled the vast southern lands of the Divine Continent. He Mu was a cultivator who emerged from this established sect, not its founder 7.

After attaining the Dao, He Mu returned for the Heavenly Venerable Ceremony. Wuliang Dao opened its normally strictly regulated gates and welcomed delegations from across the universe. Leading figures, including Quasi-Venerables, entered the Ninefold Heavenly Palace; lower-ranking cultivators gathered within the sacred land, while other cultivators and mortals paid respects from outside 7.

Rule Under He Mu

During He Mu’s subsequent seclusion, Wuliang Dao extended its presence across the star domains. Its disciples spread teachings, performed miracles, blessed mortals, and maintained order. When He Mu emerged three hundred years later, he announced further preaching within the sect and ordered preparations to preserve its inheritance against a looming danger 9 10.

Over the following millennia, the sect distributed the Dao Canon He Mu created to give living beings opportunities to cultivate. Its governance coincided with growing prosperity and an increasing number of powerful cultivators, despite the Heavenly Venerable’s suppression of the myriad Daos 11 15.

He Mu initially stayed at Wuliang Dao or wandered the mortal world, but later established his personal cultivation sanctuary at Undying Mountain. This remained distinct from the sect’s Ziwei headquarters 14 18.

Demon Shadow and the Ziwei Crisis

After returning from Undying Mountain, He Mu preached within the sect and perfected its Heavenly Venerable Grand Array. When Demon Shadow began slaughtering beings across the heavens, prayers reached He Mu at Wuliang Dao. Sect disciples also called for vengeance for their slain companions. He Mu departed to confront and destroy the demon, then returned his Dao Wheel to Ziwei and issued a reassuring decree through the sect 16 17 18.

A later disturbance of the Heavenly Heart Imprint convinced the universe that He Mu was nearing death. Wuliang Dao did not know his whereabouts, had received no decree, and could obtain no response from the slumbering Dao Wheel. With hostile powers watching it, the leadership recalled distant disciples and reduced the sect’s sphere of influence. This defensive withdrawal unintentionally reinforced the rumors 22.

Three Forbidden Zone Supremes subsequently attacked Ziwei. The sect’s grand array and Wuliang Dao Wheel sheltered the star, but Divine Flame Supreme eventually shattered the formation. He Mu intervened before Ziwei’s destruction, revealed that he had used his apparent decline to lure out enemies, and killed all three Supremes 23 24 25 26.

Renewed Faith Campaign

After beginning his second life, He Mu returned to Wuliang Dao, met its members, and stationed the Dao Wheel there again to safeguard its foundations. An ocean of faith above the sect nourished Ziwei for three years before he ordered another universe-wide preaching campaign 30 31 32.

During the next three hundred years, the disciples’ expanding shrine network helped gather the faith that strengthened He Mu’s Heavenly Emperor image. That image ultimately gave birth to Pan, his Divine Self Body, whom He Mu appointed to patrol the heavens and quell upheavals in his place 32.

Headquarters and Sacred Grounds

  • Ninefold Heavenly Palace — A suspended palace complex whose highest tier received He Mu’s golden avenue during the Heavenly Venerable Ceremony. Distinguished visitors occupied its halls 7.
  • Central Treasure Hall — A vast, imposing but unadorned audience hall. He Mu occupied the central throne while the sect leader and senior members sat below 10.
  • Central Heavenly Palace — He Mu’s residence within the sect before he moved to Faith Divine Heaven; the later ocean of faith gathered above it 32.
  • Medicinal gardens — Contain countless precious herbs, with even medicine kings described as far from rare 7.
  • Sacred mountains — Hold immortal springs, wondrous stones, ancient vines, and rare trees valuable enough to provoke battles among outside cultivators 7.
  • Auspicious manifestations — The skies display the Four Divine Spirits alongside phantoms of legendary immortal spirits and divine beasts 7.
