Tang San transmigrated from the Bashu Tang Sect to the Douluo Continent, bringing Tang Sect secret arts and hidden weapons from another world. He founded the continent’s Tang Sect, whose techniques survived into the present era 46 306 346.

During his mortal cultivation, Tang San developed the Eight Spider Lances and an incomplete form of Soul Bone Armor. He later obtained a complete set of soul bones, inherited the Sea God godhood, and acquired the Asura God godhood as well 178 244.

At the battle of three gods at Jialing Pass, he shattered the Angel God and Rakshasa God godhoods. The continent’s history books celebrated his dual-godhood victory over Spirit Hall as the beginning of a new era 244 299.

Ten thousand years of influence

Over the following ten thousand years, Tang San’s Sea God identity became a deeply entrenched faith. Many inhabitants regarded him as a radiant protector rather than a distant ruler. The Tang Sect and Shrek Academy both continued to follow his lead 257 306.

In the Divine Realm, the former Gods of Kindness and Evil entrusted him with the Divine Realm Core. His relationship with the God of Destruction remained openly antagonistic 336.

His influence on the lower realm extended beyond religious prestige. He arranged for his parents to possess the Douluo Continent’s Plane Consciousness and Life Origin, while using his daughter’s divided soul to pursue control over its Child of Destiny and destiny-bearing soul beast 299 347.

Tang San maintains a public image of gentleness, righteousness, and impartiality while privately treating people as instruments of control. When accused of manipulating the Douluo Continent, he sincerely reframes his actions as improving his homeland rather than interfering with it 299 339 347.

His need for control extends to his family. He divides Tang Wutong’s soul, installs measures intended to secure her obedience, and plans to use her relationship with Huo Yuhao to bind the Child of Destiny to his interests. Even after losing his Sea God divine sense, he assumes those preparations will keep her loyal 229 338 339.

He is calculating but prone to rage when his authority or plans are challenged. After his Sea God godhood collapses, he briefly vents his anger before constructing an explanation that presents the disaster as a sacrifice for Xiao Wu. Threats to Xiao Wu can also make him disregard his injuries and attack recklessly 299 349.

Tang San remains confident that he will survive seemingly hopeless situations, citing his past escapes from danger. That confidence finally breaks when Ye Qing reveals power beyond the God King realm 345 353.

Revival Match and Ye Qing’s Preparation

Tang San’s defeat in the opening revival match gives Ye Qing access to an opponent-derived starting ability. Ye Qing chooses the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger rather than the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record 1 243.

After rebirth, Ye Qing treats Tang San as an unavoidable future enemy. Fear that Tang San might exploit his personal attachments contributes to his relentless cultivation and caution about attracting divine attention 53 105 290.

Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well

Tang San previously uses the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well during his rise to godhood and later restricts access through a poison formation of jade phosphorus flowers. Ye Qing targets its immortal herbs while trying to avoid Tang San’s notice 100 105.

Ye Qing reasons that the site lacks a resident Tang San divine sense because of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings’ lingering power. This is his assessment, rather than a directly demonstrated limitation 100.

Holy Spirit Cult and the Collapse of Faith

Ye Qing promotes the claim that Asura God Tang San is the Holy Spirit Cult’s Holy Emperor. This is a deliberate attribution, not an established affiliation; Zhongli Wu initially rejects it as incompatible with Tang San’s reputation as Shrek’s protecting deity 243 244.

The campaign sets the Asura God’s public identity against the Sea God’s established worship. The Sea God godhood falls first to Second-Level God, then to the lowest Third-Level rank, before Asura divine power shatters it 245 278 298.

The destruction gravely injures Tang San, downgrades his trident, and removes his lower-realm surveillance. It also releases the suppression keeping Tang Wutong’s soul fragments apart, allowing them to begin merging 299.

Seclusion and Mistaken Blame

Tang San tells Xiao Wu and the God of Destruction that he sacrificed the Sea God godhood to protect his wife. Privately, he concludes that Huo Yuhao must have ruined his arrangements 299.

He enters seclusion, expecting to recover over one Divine Realm year—equivalent to 365 years on the Douluo Continent. He assumes that his removal of divine inheritance sites will prevent anyone below from ascending and threatening his family 299 300 337.

Divine Realm Confrontation

When Ye Qing arrives with Tang Wutong and the Soul Beast kings, Tang San tests his daughter’s conditioning and mistakes her apparent obedience for success. She instead stabs him with a dagger transformed from Ye Qing’s Eternal Spear, whose guaranteed-hit property penetrates his God King body 338 339.

Tang Wutong exposes his soul manipulation, prompting the God of Destruction to attack him. Tang San secretly calls for his predecessors’ aid, while Di Tian and Tang Wutong reveal his wider plans to control the continent 340 341 345 347 348.

His subsequent attacks fail against both the Golden Dragon King and Ye Qing. By the finale, Ye Qing’s ten divine rings have destroyed his remaining will to resist. Ye Qing demands that, after Tang San’s death, the Asura god position and those of his faction pass to the Beast God Lineage 348 349 353.
