Capital and Dragon City

• Separate but colocated: “Imperial City,” “the capital,” and “Dragon City” are commonly used interchangeably, but Dragon City is a distinct realm entered through the capital 270.
• Looking Dragon Platform: Also called the Ascending Dragon Platform, this four-storey building stands between reality and illusion. Sacred Dragon Legend normally works on its highest floor; the lower floors include resting areas for Dragon Tamers and a large conference room 586.
• Dragon Gate: The nation was founded around this gate. Ascending it grants mastery over a portion of the rules governing dragon power, an achievement available to very few even within Dragon City 420 469.

History

Foundations and National Revival

Later generations of human Beast Tamers founded Dragon Nation around the Dragon Gate, with Dragon City as its heart and dragons as its representative pet beasts 469. Its modern strength rests partly on deep historical foundations and accumulated national resources 270.

Nearly a century of active breeding research produced numerous pet beast evolutions and strengthened the country enough to return it to the ranks of Blue Star's largest nations. Dragons were a major source of military strength behind that resurgence 54 357.

Sacred Dragon Legend's Rise

Sacred Dragon Legend rose from Western Desert Province and became a deterrent to foreign powers as well as a feared authority at home 265 476. Wolf Nation, previously hostile toward Dragon Nation, adopted a substantially friendlier attitude after his rise 355.

More than sixty years before the later story, Sacred Dragon Legend fought and killed his former close companion, Sword Saint Huangfu Qing, for Dragon Nation's stability. The battle helped determine the country's future course. Afterward, Eagle Country—already possessing three Legend Tier beings—began treating Dragon Nation as a major strategic enemy 852 865.

Suppression of the Great Families

Around twenty years before the Heart of Gold gathering, the established Beast Tamer families were drastically reduced in power 682. Master Leng explains the principle behind the crackdown as placing the nation before the family, particularly when clan loyalty could lead to betrayal 281.

The resulting conflicts left blood feuds between surviving aristocratic clans and newly risen Saint Spirit Tier figures. Sacred Dragon Legend's restraints prevented further destabilization. After becoming vice president of the Beast Tamer Association, Su Ping extended goodwill toward the surviving clans and helped ease these tensions 807.

Central Authority

• Sacred Dragon Legend directs major national policy, issues diplomatic decrees, appoints officials, and authorizes institutional changes. He is also a principal fighting power and the nation's spiritual pillar 326 476 548 825.
• Su Ping becomes vice president of the Beast Tamer Association and takes an increasingly prominent role in domestic reconciliation, foreign negotiations, and breeder protection 807 810.
• National loyalty takes precedence over inherited family interests. Suspected betrayal can prompt severe investigations and intervention 281 702.

Dragon Nation's research into dragons is exceptionally advanced. Dragon City supplies most of its Dragon Race pet beasts and is described as the country's greatest foundation 193 270 381.

• Restricted allocation: Dragon pets are reserved for people with sufficient standing, strength, status, or contributions. Ordinary citizens generally have no access to them 221 227.
• Traceable origins: Every dragon's origin can be traced, making dragon ownership a distinctive mark of honor and recognized status 769.
• Effective monopoly: Fully developed dragons lack physiological sexual characteristics and cannot be reproduced through conventional means. Foreign nations therefore cannot establish ordinary breeding populations merely by acquiring some dragons 334.
• Two origins: Both Divine Dragons and Giant Dragons can arise through egg hatching or evolution 382.
• Controlled precursors: Some beasts approaching true dragonhood retain limited reproductive capacity, but these are also controlled by the Beast Tamer Association 417.

Uncertain Origins

• Sacred Dragon Legend believes Dragon City originated from the Dragon God, a Myth Tier being associated with the origins of both major dragon races 743.
• This remains an area of uncertainty: Su Ping considers whether Dragon City's elemental laws reflect the Dragon God or the accumulated work of generations of dragons and Dragon Tamers 825.
• Su Ping also questions whether the Dragon God's attitude toward humanity would make the nation's dependence on Dragon City a potential danger 825.

• Research culture: Generations of enthusiastic breeders contributed directly to national growth through new breeding and evolution methods 54.

• Pingyun and Dreamheart: Dreamheart helps turn Pingyun into a rapidly rising international financial consortium and becomes a tool for trade negotiations 810.
• Strategic exchange: Strengthening international pet beast exchanges and relations with smaller nations is an explicit development direction. The goal of raising domestic Beast Tamers' strength cannot be achieved through self-sufficiency alone 810.
• Wartime demand: War on the Western Continent increases global demand for Dragon Nation's pet beasts, materials, and daily necessities. Recruitment of high-level foreign breeders is considered more strategically important than the trade revenue alone 830.

Opposition to the Heart of Gold

The government establishes the Silver-Bearing Directorate to investigate illegal domestic businesses connected to the Heart of Gold 476. At the organization's Cherry Blossom Country gathering, Su Ping intervenes before participating companies can mistake the meeting for official Dragon Nation approval 685.

• He declares that companies joining and integrating with the Heart of Gold will be treated as relinquishing Dragon Nation citizenship 685.
• He warns that their assets will be frozen and their personnel required to return for treason investigations 685.
• The declaration causes both domestic entrepreneurs and foreign participants to hesitate, disrupting the gathering's recruitment plans 686.

Growing International Influence

By the later story, foreign breeders increasingly look to Dragon Nation and Su Ping for protection. Nogu Yesi commits to remaining in the country after receiving mutual-aid assistance 809 810.

By New Year's Eve, Su Ping's close alignment with Dragon Nation has further elevated its standing. Surrounding smaller countries publicly celebrate its New Year as a declaration of political closeness 887.
