Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Full-strength, twenty-finger counterpart 249 253 The parallel-world Sukuna occupies Fushiguro’s body and possesses the Ten Shadows Technique. Wangchuan identifies him as full-strength before entering the battle.
Forty-Finger Sukuna 253 254 Wangchuan forces an additional twenty fingers’ worth of power into the parallel counterpart, including the remnant extracted from Itadori. The two Sukunas fuse, producing an increase described as exponential rather than merely additive.
True-form Forty-Finger Sukuna 256 Reconstructs his body into his original two-faced, four-armed appearance. He also draws Mahoraga into his shadow and transfers its adaptation to himself, manifesting a Dharma Ring above his head.

Background / History

Sukuna brought Jujutsu Society to its knees approximately a thousand years before the present story. His reputation as the King of Curses endured into the modern era, and twenty fingers represent the full power of an individual Sukuna 230 232.

He later resided inside Yuji Itadori. Megumi Fushiguro recalls Sukuna taking control of Itadori at the Juvenile Detention Center after a special-grade cursed spirit swallowed him, then tearing the spirit apart 232.

Itadori’s existence as Sukuna’s vessel made him an execution target for the Jujutsu Higher-Ups. They planned to have Kyoto students kill him during the Goodwill Event, but postponed the operation after learning that Wangchuan would soon return 215.

Appearance

  • Manifestation through Itadori: A sharp-toothed mouth opens on Itadori’s cheek and can stretch to his ear. Black markings appear as Sukuna becomes agitated 232 233.
  • Fushiguro vessel: The parallel-world Sukuna has four eyes while occupying Megumi Fushiguro’s body 250 251.
  • True form: Two faces, four arms, and no distinct nape, with his head connected directly to his shoulders. He has a seal on his tongue and an additional mouth in his abdomen 256.
  • Adaptation transfer: A Dharma Ring appears above his head after Mahoraga merges into his shadow 256.

Personality

Sukuna is openly malicious, proud of his ancient reputation, and exhilarated by strong opponents. He laughs during his exchanges with Gojo and responds to Wangchuan’s unusual power with a desire to fight him. Even discovering that Wangchuan has directly wounded his soul excites his anticipation of their eventual battle 232 233 248.

His arrogance coexists with methodical combat analysis. Wangchuan describes him as someone who probes opponents and uncovers their trump cards rather than rushing. Sukuna identifies the Dharma Ring’s healing, adaptation, enhancement, and depletion mechanics, then plans to exhaust it with Mahoraga 249 253.

Humiliation repeatedly disrupts that composure. Wangchuan’s insults and slaps provoke furious attacks, but overwhelming defeat also makes Sukuna cautious: he agrees to leave Itadori under pressure and later checks that Wangchuan will not interfere before resuming his fight with Gojo 252 255 256 257.

Abilities & Skills

Cursed Energy and Physical Combat

Sukuna reinforces his body with cursed energy to deliver destructive close-range attacks. His forty-finger state greatly increases his output, speed, and durability 248 253 254 257.

  • Trades punches and kicks with Gojo hard enough to pulverize concrete and bend steel supports 248.
  • Moves fast enough that Number Two Gojo’s Six Eyes catch only a blurred afterimage during his full-power attack 257.
  • Despite these enhancements, he cannot follow Wangchuan’s strikes or meaningfully threaten him 253 256 257.

Dismantle and Cleave

Sukuna’s principal offensive techniques are cutting attacks used at range and in close combat 251 256.

  • Dismantle: Launches invisible ranged slashes. He can fire multiple cuts along different trajectories or saturate an area with hundreds of attacks 251 258 259.
  • Forty-finger Dismantle: Carves a three-kilometer trench through the ruins, but leaves Wangchuan unharmed 254.
  • Cleave: A severing attack described as depending on the difference in cursed energy. Sukuna attempts to activate it when Gojo’s fist touches his face 251 256.
  • Four-armed Cleave: Concentrates forty fingers’ worth of power into all four palms, releasing converging slashes that reduce nearby structures to dust 257.
  • Limits shown: Wangchuan’s surrounding space destroys Sukuna’s approaching hand, while Gojo’s Talismans allow him to survive or evade the attacks 256 257 258.

Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine

Malevolent Shrine fills an area with a dense barrage of slashes capable of repeatedly shredding buildings, reinforcement steel, and concrete into dust 251.

  • Its demonstrated activation floods a hundred-meter radius with cursed energy and cutting attacks 251.
  • Gojo’s Dharma Ring progressively reduces the slashes’ effectiveness while healing him 251 253.
  • Forming the activation hand sign leaves an opening: Number One Gojo interrupts one attempt with a kick, and Wangchuan interrupts another by striking Sukuna’s hand 250 256.

Domain Amplification

Sukuna surrounds himself or his hands with a neutralizing film that lets him make contact through Gojo’s Limitless 248 250.

  • Can be maintained while moving and fighting physically 248.
  • Prevents simultaneous use of his own cursed technique while active 248.
  • Does not fully withstand Number One Gojo’s Blue-enhanced strikes, which break through its protection and tear Sukuna’s flesh 250.

Ten Shadows Technique

The parallel-world Sukuna obtains Ten Shadows by occupying Fushiguro’s body. He uses its summons both offensively and to investigate enemy defenses 249 251 253.

  • Mahoraga: Summons the adaptive shikigami to test and deplete Gojo’s Dharma Ring 253.
  • Adaptation transfer: Draws Mahoraga into his shadow and assumes its Dharma Ring. Sukuna claims this grants resistance to Wangchuan’s attack method, but Wangchuan immediately kicks him through several buildings 256.
  • Nue: Summons a version with a kilometer-wide wingspan that blankets the battlefield in lightning. Gojo destroys it from within using the Dragon Talisman 258.
  • Ninefold Chimera Beast: Cancels his transferred adaptation and merges eight other shikigami into Mahoraga, creating a thousand-meter-tall creature wielding an enormous Sword of Extermination 259.
  • Cost: Forming the chimera consumes cursed energy at a tremendous rate, even with his forty-finger reserves 259.

Reverse Cursed Technique

Sukuna regenerates serious physical injuries during combat 253 256 257.

  • Repairs shattered ribs, torn internal organs, a destroyed hand, broken facial bones, and lost teeth 253 256 257.
  • Regeneration of the hand crushed near Wangchuan is slower than he expects 256.

Soul and Cursed-Object Manipulation

Sukuna can concentrate himself into a severed finger and fuse with another version of his soul 252 253.

  • Leaves Itadori by condensing all five fingers’ worth of power within him into one severed index finger 252.
  • Merges with his parallel counterpart when Wangchuan feeds that remnant and the remaining stored fingers to the other Sukuna 253.
  • His soul is vulnerable to direct interference: Wangchuan’s command forces him back inside Itadori and leaves a crack in his soul 233.

Fire Technique: “Furnace, Open”

Wangchuan’s system confirms that Sukuna possesses the fire-attribute cursed technique “Furnace, open.” It recommends Shendu’s flame resistance and control as a tactical advantage against him; no use of the technique is shown in the supplied encounters 67.

Relationships

  • Yuji Itadori — Vessel and unwilling host. Itadori tries to silence Sukuna’s interruptions and is relieved when Sukuna finally leaves his body 232 233 252.
  • Wangchuan — Desired opponent who becomes an overwhelming threat. Sukuna vows to kill him, but eventually acknowledges that he cannot defeat the “monster” and seeks assurance that he will stay out of the Gojo fight 233 253 257.
  • Satoru Gojo — Number One — Parallel-world challenger brought by Wangchuan. His Dharma Ring and Twelve Talismans repeatedly frustrate Sukuna’s attempts to kill him 250 251 257 258 259.
  • Satoru Gojo — Number Two — The Gojo native to the parallel battlefield and Sukuna’s initial opponent there. Number One interrupts their impending domain clash and takes over the fight 248 250.
  • Megumi Fushiguro — Host of Sukuna’s parallel counterpart and the source of his access to Ten Shadows 249 250 251.
  • Uraume — A figure connected to his ancient past. Sukuna remarks, with mockery and apparent nostalgia, that she waited a thousand years after seeing her extracted cursed object discarded 232.
  • Parallel-world Sukuna — Counterpart who agrees to fuse with the remnant from Itadori, producing Forty-Finger Sukuna 253.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Wangchuan’s Resurrection Plan

  • Wangchuan obtains Tengen’s permission to retrieve seven stored fingers, intending to restore Sukuna for a fight with Gojo without endangering Itadori 230.
  • Sukuna instead chooses Wangchuan as his intended opponent. Their hospital confrontation ends when Wangchuan forces him back inside Itadori and wounds his soul 232 233.
  • Wangchuan gathers more fingers and considers escalating the spectacle into Gojo against a forty-finger Sukuna with Ten Shadows 240 244.

Parallel-World Battle and Fusion

  • Number One Gojo enters the parallel-world battle, interrupts Sukuna’s domain activation, and replaces Number Two as his opponent 249 250.
  • Sukuna deploys Malevolent Shrine and Mahoraga, then discovers that Wangchuan’s Dharma Ring gives Gojo healing, adaptation, and increasing combat strength 251 253.
  • Under Wangchuan’s pressure, the Sukuna inside Itadori separates himself into a finger. Wangchuan feeds the collected twenty fingers’ worth of power to the parallel Sukuna, joining the two into Forty-Finger Sukuna 252 253.

True Form and the Twelve Talismans

  • Wangchuan overwhelms the strengthened Sukuna, using the confrontation to recover his own diminished emotions. Sukuna’s true form and transferred adaptation do not change the outcome 255 256 257.
  • With Wangchuan agreeing not to interfere, Sukuna resumes fighting Number One Gojo. The Dog and Horse Talismans counter lethal damage, while the Rabbit Talisman gives Gojo overwhelming speed 257 258 259.
  • Sukuna identifies Gojo’s Talisman belt as a possible vulnerability, but his slashes cannot touch it. He then creates the Ninefold Chimera Beast; the supplied account ends before its attack is resolved 259.
