History

Ascension and Nine Demon Cave

Xiao Wu is selected alongside Qian Renxue, Tai Tan, and Ma Hongjun for the first ascension to the Primordial World. Terrified of leaving Tang San, she clings to him until the ascension separates them. Tang San tells her to find a safe hiding place and promises to follow her 2.

She arrives on the Northern Julu Continent as an enormous pink rabbit rather than in her previous human form. An eagle’s bloodline pressure leaves her unable to move, but Snake Maiden drives it away. Faced with being eaten, Xiao Wu agrees to become Snake Maiden’s pet. Her captor shrinks her, names her Little Jade Rabbit, and takes her to Nine Demon Cave, a subordinate of Bai Ze Ridge 4.

Snake Maiden introduces the Jade Rabbit on the moon as Xiao Wu’s “ancestor” and dyes her fur white to strengthen the resemblance. When the local moon essence decreases, Chicken Spirit blames Xiao Wu for the demons’ slower cultivation. Snake Maiden defends her, but Bai Ze Ridge’s Black Bear Spirit decides to destroy the cave rather than risk sharing its apparent divine punishment 9 14.

Captivity under Xiong Jun

Xiong Jun kills Snake Maiden and nearly kills Xiao Wu. She survives by declaring that she worships Ancestor Jade Rabbit. Although Xiong Jun does not believe the ancestor recognizes her, he hesitates to kill someone invoking that name. Instead, he forbids her from claiming the connection again and uses her as a living wiping rag 15.

During captivity, Xiao Wu overhears demon cultivation knowledge and resolves to become strong enough to earn Jade Rabbit’s protection. Her instinctive absorption of moon essence, supplemented by spiritual nutrients left in Xiong Jun’s waste, eventually carries her into Refining Essence into Qi 18 34.

Princess Wu of Bai Ze Ridge

The Scarred Rose King conquers Bai Ze Ridge and kills Xiong Jun using the Heart-Confusing Nine-Colored Gauze. Finding Xiao Wu newly transformed into a humanoid, he uses the artifact to manipulate her memories of her mother and Tang San. He then forces her into his harem under the title Princess Wu 35.

Xiao Wu conceals her hatred while looking for an escape. When Scarred Rose makes her attend the visiting Black Rhino King, she hopes to use the stronger demon against her captor and obtain the Nine-Colored Gauze. She considers the artifact essential to escaping Bai Ze Ridge 61.

Yu Xiaogang’s arrival gives her another potential ally. She recognizes him despite his pig-like features and persuades Scarred Rose to receive him. Scarred Rose becomes infatuated with Yu Xiaogang, orders Xiao Wu to serve him wine and food, and grants him the title Rose Grandmaster 69.

Escape from Bai Ze Ridge

Xiao Wu signals for Yu Xiaogang to obtain the Nine-Colored Gauze through Scarface’s affection. He instead demands it openly and receives it. Xiao Wu immediately tries to kick Scarface’s neck, but cannot injure him 76.

Yu Xiaogang subsequently uses the gauze against Scarface but becomes caught in its effects himself. Xiao Wu seizes the artifact and initially flees, then returns to reinforce Scarface’s bewitchment with all her magical power. She leaves Yu Xiaogang behind, reasoning that rescuing him could prevent either of them from escaping and that he can reach the tournament by teleportation three days later 77.

Wearing the gauze and maintaining the outward composure of Princess Wu, she passes the lesser demons guarding Bai Ze Ridge. She plans to hide until the Soul Master Tournament, where she hopes the artifact will help her distinguish herself before Goddess Nüwa 77.

Soul Master Tournament

At Five Finger Mountain, Xiao Wu reunites with Zhu Zhuqing and other acquaintances. Yu Xiaogang demands the Nine-Colored Gauze, insults her over her captivity, and threatens to oppose her relationship with Tang San. Although initially refusing, she eventually agrees to surrender it in exchange for his promise to help reconstruct her body. Bibi Dong intercepts the artifact before the handover is completed 78 79.

Bibi Dong offers to return the gauze if Xiao Wu defeats her. Their match ends decisively: Xiao Wu’s Teleportation fails, and Bibi Dong’s Mosquito Daoist martial soul extracts part of her essence. Xiao Wu collapses, unable to maintain Martial Soul Possession; the extracted essence subsequently enters Ma Hongjun’s body 85 88.

Xiao Wu later asks Nezha to intervene over the gauze, but he refuses to settle the dispute. She finishes the tournament without recovering it 93 95.

Tang San’s Ascension and Scarface’s Return

Grand Master Xuandu reveals that Xiao Wu and Flender have opportunities dependent on an important person connected to them both. They identify that person as Tang San. After learning that Qian Renxue can influence ascension selections, Xiao Wu demands that she bring him over. Her confrontational approach earns Qian Renxue’s displeasure, a slap from Bibi Dong, and widespread condemnation among the Douluo Continent’s viewers 97 98.

Xiao Wu eventually offers half her future opportunity in exchange for Tang San’s ascension. Still weakened by the loss of her essence, she travels into Great Tang territory to investigate where he might arrive 99 107.

Flender finds her and persuades her to return to Five Finger Mountain without revealing that Scarface is waiting there. Xiao Wu detects Scarface’s scent and confronts him. Flender admits that Scarface’s condition for freeing Yu Xiaogang is access to her, then invokes Yu Xiaogang’s position as Tang San’s teacher. Emotionally devastated, Xiao Wu enters Scarface’s shed 107.

Appearance

• Rabbit form: Initially an enormous rabbit with pink fur. Snake Maiden forcibly reduces her size and temporarily dyes her white using an unknown flower 4 9.
• Humanoid form: Has a lovely face, a shapely figure, particularly long legs, and fluffy rabbit ears. This form results from Primordial World cultivation rather than her earlier Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast transformation 35.
• After essence extraction: Remains visibly pale and weakened when Flender finds her in Great Tang territory 107.

Personality

Xiao Wu’s attachment to Tang San governs many of her decisions. She initially fears ascension because it separates them, later offers half her opportunity to secure his arrival, and accepts Yu Xiaogang’s dubious promise of bodily reconstruction because she fears rejection over her captivity 2 79 99.

Her experiences make her more guarded and calculating. At Bai Ze Ridge, she hides her hatred behind apparent compliance, seeks outside leverage against Scarface, and reinforces the gauze’s effects before escaping. Nevertheless, her dependence on familiar people remains a vulnerability: she trusts Flender after the tournament and is devastated when he delivers her back to Scarface 61 77 88 107.

She also openly envies other ascenders’ advantages. Learning about Di Tian’s transformation and Zhu Zhuqing’s artifact intensifies her determination to retain the Nine-Colored Gauze. Her desperation for Tang San’s arrival becomes entitlement when she treats Qian Renxue’s assistance as an obligation rather than a favor 78 98.
