Hiro had decided to upgrade their equipment, so Lu Wen took a moment to go back and let Cass know, so she would not worry.
There was just one small problem right now.
As everyone knew, aside from Fred, every member of this team was a young scientific genius! After learning Lu Wen's stats from Baymax, they all grew curious!
In fact, while Hiro was designing weapons tailored to everyone's specialties, he even asked Lu Wen what kind of equipment he wanted.
Hiro had already taken it for granted that Lu Wen was their teammate.
Lu Wen said he did not need any. He had his own! Then he summoned Venom, and the pitch-black, muscular Symbiote suit covered his entire body.
Lu Wen's appearance resembled the Venom Suit from Lethal Protector, only with less exaggerated muscles. Even so, once it covered him, he was several sizes bulkier than his original build! His height also rose to two meters, and he did not have that enormous, terrifying mouth. He had chosen a full-face mask like Peter's.
He had only meant to show off a little, but these young scientists all wanted to dissect him! They even wanted to slice Venom into samples...
Tsk~
Outside the entrance to Fred's mansion, four young scientific geniuses hung in a neat row from a clothes rack.
Lu Wen dusted nonexistent dirt off his hands and called to Baymax, who was huddled in a corner. "Let them down in fifteen minutes."
Baymax's sensors flashed. "All right. However, Wasabi's blood pressure is currently elevated, Honey Lemon's heart rate is high, and Fred..."
"All right, I get it. Just use your judgment." Lu Wen waved a hand, turned, and walked out of Fred's house.
Fred wailed behind him, "Buddy! We just wanted to do a little research! Just a little! What if we promise not to use a scalpel?"
"Maybe next time!" Lu Wen left without looking back.
He did, however, ask Hiro to make him a pair of Wasabi's laser-blade bracers. He really did need a weapon other than his fists right now.
As for their power, he could just have Tony upgrade them later.
Now that things were nearly over, he might as well find some time to flirt a little more with the café's beautiful owner. After all, who knew when he would be back next?
Half an hour later, he sat in his usual window seat at the Lucky Cat Café, holding the hot coffee Cass had made as he watched the afternoon streets of San Fransokyo outside.
Cass wiped cups behind the counter, glancing up at him now and then.
The following evening, Lu Wen received a message from Hiro saying he had found the masked man.
After letting Cass know, Lu Wen set off to collect his things.
Along the way, Lu Wen worked it out in his head~
Since Hiro had found Callaghan, that meant Callaghan's revenge plan was about to begin. He had also made enough robots, so he no longer had any use for that production line.
If nobody wants it, it's mine!
Upon arriving at Frank's mansion, Lu Wen looked at the pair of cuckold-green laser wrist blades in his hands. Rather than putting them in System Space, he had Venom store them for now.
Speaking of which, Symbiotes really were pretty amazing. Not only could a tiny blob turn into an enormous blob, they also had an ability similar to a dimensional pocket. They could not hold much, but they could indeed store objects inside their bodies!
In the comics, Peter had once stored a camera and film inside one, while a later host, Flash Thompson, had even used it to store large quantities of military equipment and ammunition.
He would let Venom keep these for now and take them straight out to put on whenever he transformed. Still, he would have to get Tony to upgrade them when he returned.
On a small island off the coast of San Francisco, Baymax brought everyone safely to the ground.
The place looked like an abandoned research base... or perhaps that was exactly what it was! The island was quiet, as though some terrible danger was brewing, leaving the boys and girls extremely tense.
Click~
The faint sound instantly set off their tightly wound nerves, and they squeezed their eyes shut and frantically unleashed their equipment.
"Relax. It's just a bird. Don't make such a fuss," Lu Wen reassured them.
Then... bang!
He kicked open the tightly shut metal door and strode inside without a care.
Fred looked at the dent kicked into the ten-centimeter-thick metal door, then at Lu Wen's leg, whose trouser fabric had not even torn. His Adam's apple bobbed. "I think even if we all dressed like porcupines, we still couldn't poke through this guy's underwear."
Wasabi put away the laser blades in his hands. He stared at the footprint on the door for two seconds, suddenly feeling much less impressed with his wrist blades.
GoGo adjusted her goggles and reminded them expressionlessly, "Quit talking. He's already inside." With that, she was the first to follow him.
They passed through the metal corridor and eventually discovered where Callaghan was rebuilding the portal. They also found a room resembling a surveillance room and searched for the truth behind what had happened.
Just as they were watching the surveillance footage, the Spider-Sense Venom gave Lu Wen suddenly went off!
How could that feeling be described? It was like having a buzzing alarm with an electrical leak installed in your brain! Whenever it sensed danger, the alarm would start buzzing and running, sending electrical shocks into your nerves! The shocks made your brain sting, and the danger level could then be judged by the intensity of the pain.
Lu Wen turned and saw Callaghan held aloft by a swarm of robots, directing them to hurl an enormous rock at the group.
The black Symbiote spread like flowing water, covering every inch of Lu Wen's muscles in the blink of an eye.
Boom!
The enormous rock smashed the surveillance room to rubble, seemingly crushing these "uninvited guests" flat as well.
"I'm okay! Thank goodness, I'm still alive~"
Lu Wen tilted his head slightly to glance at the rather timid, muscular young Black man. Then he exerted force through the arm holding back the boulder, slowly lifting it.
Once Callaghan came back into view, Lu Wen hurled the rock in his hand at him without hesitation!
You bastard, how dare you ambush me!
"Woohoo! Charge! Get him!" Fred reacted first, his body moving faster than his brain as he charged straight out!
Lu Wen simply watched these weaklings rush in one after another to get trounced, easily knocked flat by Callaghan's robots.
"They're fine. They won't die. Let me find my production line first." Seeing that they seemed to be largely unharmed, Lu Wen was in no hurry to intervene. First, he wanted to see whether the robot production line was here.
If it was, he would pick it up while he was at it. Callaghan's controller could wait until the end, when he could maximize his gains.
Hiro had linked the tracker's signal to the phone Tony had given him. Right now, it showed that the production line was directly below.
Right, time to get to work.
Lu Wen put away his phone and raised his hand to shoot webs, saving Fred and the others before Callaghan's robot swarm could crush them to death.
Callaghan noticed Lu Wen too. With a slight lift of his fingers, countless robots gathered into tentacles that stabbed toward Lu Wen's chest.
Lu Wen raised his hands and scattered the robots with two slaps, though he did not use much force. After all, they would soon be his property, and it would be a shame to break them.
Seeing that the robots were ineffective, Callaghan visibly grew anxious!
Countless microbots constantly shifted into different forms to attack Lu Wen, but none could stop his advance. He scattered them all with his fists.
Seeing that he was outmatched, Callaghan immediately tried to leave, only for Hiro, riding Baymax, to dive down and knock him to the ground.
After Hiro climbed to his feet, he saw that the mask had fallen beside his hand and hurriedly grabbed it.
"Looks like that's settled. Hiro! Can you handle this? If you can, I'm going downstairs to take care of something," Lu Wen called to Hiro.
"No problem. Leave it to me." Hiro waved confidently.
He felt that he seemed to have the situation under control. Next, it would be time to pass judgment on Gree.
Without saying anything more, Lu Wen followed the tracker's signal underground.
The underground area seemed to be an assembly workshop for another kind of machinery. It was spacious, with a large metal ring in the middle, presumably the portal.
Large numbers of black barrels were stacked neatly around it, filled with finished microbots.
Lu Wen ignored them for the moment and headed straight for the automated production line in the corner.
With a wave of his hand, it entered System Space.
Just after he took the production line, all the surrounding robots seemed to come alive. They flooded the space like a tide, picked up the portal, and surged upward together...
