Arc 2Sunfury Spire and Uldaman

Patrick established himself at Sunfury Spire, expanded its workshops, and received royal recognition while navigating the competing interests of Silvermoon’s council and king. He then joined an expedition into Uldaman, where he encountered Lorekeeper Norgannon and received the Four Discs of Norgannon's Arcane Truth.

  • Patrick redesigned the Sun Temple as Sunfury Spire, took charge of its Mage Tower, and welcomed Idonis and Candiris as followers.
  • Patrick organized alchemy and enchanting workshops, expanded potion production, and approved housing for merchants and rangers.
  • Patrick reunited with his family, proposed expanding the Cabrolon family’s herbalism business, and sought a position at the Royal Academy of Arcane Arts.
  • King Anasterian made Patrick a baron and awarded him the Golden Dragonhawk Medal, while Telestra arrived at Sunfury Spire as the academy’s ambassador.
  • Patrick studied the metamagic techniques Energy Disjunction and Spell Sequencing, then recruited Lorne Songweaver and Alleria to explore Uldaman.
  • Patrick and the expedition entered Uldaman, defeated Troggs and guardians, found the missing dwarves, and opened the Seat of Khaz'goroth.
  • Patrick activated the pedestal and touched the Discs of Norgannon, where Lorekeeper Norgannon explained the Titans’ creation of the Earthen and the origins of dwarves and Troggs.
  • Lorekeeper Norgannon gave Patrick the Four Discs of Norgannon's Arcane Truth, and Patrick woke from his trance as Alleria and the dwarves waited beside him.
Chapters 26–50 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 26Ghostlands

Patrick designed the Sun Temple's renovation and traveled to the Ghostlands to oversee the project. After meeting the mage Quelrintis, he received a briefing on the temple and its surroundings.

  • Patrick reviewed the Mage Tower plans, redesigned the Sun Temple's interior and exterior, and decorated it with High Elf patterns.
  • Alleria praised the tower's magical designs while privately comparing them to Farstrider banner patterns.
  • The Silvermoon Council approved an eight-hundred-gold budget and sent a team of Scholars to refurbish the Sun Temple.
  • Patrick and the Scholars traveled through Tranquillien and Andilien Estate toward the Sun Temple in the Ghostlands.
  • Patrick presented his credentials to Quelrintis, who briefed him on the temple's operations, the Ranger troops, and the Troll Sebunwa.

Ch. 27Sun Temple

Patrick arrived at the Sun Temple, inspected its defenses and Mage Tower, and began taking charge as its newly appointed Chief Mage. After learning how the temple operated and who guarded the surrounding area, he settled in to develop the remote tower for his arcane studies.

  • Patrick entered the Sun Temple and examined its defensive layout, training ground, and Mage Tower.
  • Arcanist Yanida greeted Patrick, and Quelrintis introduced him as the temple’s new Chief Mage to the engineers dispatched by the Silvermoon Council.
  • Patrick ordered the engineers to begin alterations based on his plans and went with Quelrintis and Yanida to the Chief Mage’s office.
  • Yanida explained the Mage Tower’s systems and duties, while Quelrintis described the ranger forces commanded by Sylvanas Windrunner and Lor'themar Theron.
  • Patrick kept Quelrintis and Yanida in their existing roles and planned to use the remote Sun Temple to pursue arcane research and build his own following.

Ch. 28Comrades-in-arms

Patrick took control of the Sun Temple, renovated it into Sunfury Spire, and settled into his role as chief mage. Idonis and Candiris arrived from the East Sanctum to study under him, giving him much-needed help at the tower.

  • Patrick claimed the Sun Temple's power supply and control hub, then sent a letter to his family asking his father to arrange herb-growing at Zeb'Watha for the Cabrolon family.
  • Patrick oversaw the tower's renovations, had its entrance renamed Sunfury Spire, and hosted a party for the departing scholars and engineers.
  • Patrick examined a book from the tower's sparse library as Sunfury Spire's operations settled into a routine and merchants began arriving.
  • Idonis and Candiris came from the East Sanctum and asked to study arcane knowledge under Patrick's guidance.
  • Patrick welcomed Idonis and Candiris as followers, glad to have help with the tower's work.

Ch. 29Sylvanas

Patrick settled into his role as chief mage at the Sun Temple while studying three fifth-ring spells. Ranger-General Sylvanas Windrunner visited the temple, praised his actions against the trolls, and left with questions about why her sister Alleria had taken an interest in him.

  • Patrick assigned Idonis and Candiris tasks as they settled into the Sun Temple, while the elves around him resumed their studies and social gatherings.
  • Patrick reviewed his unfinished studies of Permanency, Arcane Resonance, and Teleportation as he worked to strengthen his magical abilities.
  • Sylvanas arrived at the Sun Temple, introduced herself to Patrick, and commended him for helping defeat the trolls at Zeb'Watha.
  • Patrick and Sylvanas agreed that fighting the troll threat was their shared responsibility, though Sylvanas privately questioned what had attracted Alleria to him.
  • After Sylvanas left, Quelrintis explained that she visited the Sun Temple to oversee troop rotations and coordinate with its mages.

Ch. 30Blue Child and White Lady

Patrick assigned four mages to study his transcribed spells while he explored spatial magic and tried to investigate Azeroth’s moons. He learned that Blue Child and White Lady were shielded by powerful barriers, leaving him to wonder whether the Titans had transformed them.

  • Patrick gave Idonis, Candiris, Quelrintis, and Yanida spell notes and sixty days to study them and submit their findings.
  • Patrick studied teleportation and opened a spatial rift, observing the chaotic energies of the void before his mana forced him to close it.
  • Patrick tried to project his mind toward Blue Child and White Lady, but an invisible force field twisted and repelled his mental power.
  • Ellen explained that ancient Night Elf archmages had also failed to penetrate the moons’ dense energy barriers, whose nature remained unknown.
  • Patrick wondered whether the Titans had created the moons’ protections and left something on them to support Azeroth.

Ch. 31Research

Patrick and Ellen discussed the Twin Moons, the Well of Eternity, and whether arcane magic damaged Azeroth or simply used its energy creatively. After questioning the risks of conjuration and the history of the Burning Legion, Patrick resumed his studies and developed improved potions for the Mage Tower library.

  • Ellen proposed that Azeroth’s two moons were Titan devices linked to the Well of Eternity, and Patrick considered how their alignment might affect the world’s mana tides.
  • Patrick reflected on how conjuration spells used Spiritual Power and wondered whether arcane magic weakened reality by taking energy from the surrounding world.
  • Ellen argued that arcane and natural energies were neutral forces of order, and compared their use to mining and other human activities.
  • Ellen explained how Azshara’s deception led the Highborne to bring in the Burning Legion, then questioned whether human mages and a single Guardian could prevent another invasion.
  • After resting and copying books for the Mage Tower, Patrick brewed improved Mana Potions and Healing Potions and planned to record the formula in the library.

Ch. 32Contact

Patrick prepared improved healing potions for Sylvanas’s frontline troops and continued studying arcane magic at the Sun Temple. After Sylvanas approved the supplies, Patrick’s study produced new sigils and incantations, leaving him mentally exhausted but with new arcane knowledge.

  • Patrick prepared stronger healing potions for the council to supply the Ghostlands front lines.
  • Patrick reflected on the enemies ahead and spoke with Ellen beneath the stars at the Sun Temple.
  • Sylvanas visited the Sun Temple to rotate ranger units and collect supplies for the frontline camps.
  • Sylvanas tested Patrick’s potions, praised their improved healing effects, and arranged for ranger soldiers to move the goods.
  • Patrick studied arcane sigils and incantations until new combinations formed and their knowledge flowed into his consciousness.
  • Patrick ended his study exhausted and poured himself peacebloom tea to rest.

Ch. 33Building a team

Patrick planned to make Sunfury Spire self-sufficient by opening alchemy and enchanting workshops, sharing profits with the mages who ran them. Idonis, Candiris, Quelrintis, and the fourth mage agreed, while merchants and travelers continued to bring new activity to the Sun Temple.

  • Idonis delivered four mages’ research scrolls to Patrick, who approved their work and asked about their experience with alchemy and enchanting.
  • Patrick proposed opening the Mage Tower’s Alchemy Workshop and Enchanting Workshop to sell products throughout the Ghostlands and split the profits equally with the workers.
  • Patrick promised to provide Cabrolon family formulas and open the library’s knowledge to the mages, and Idonis, Candiris, Quelrintis, and the fourth mage agreed to join the plan.
  • Patrick gave the mages formulas to study and practice, while merchants’ arrivals made life at the Sun Temple more comfortable for its elves and visiting Ranger Forces.

Ch. 34Family

Patrick received his father's Arcane Key and learned that his family expected him to inherit its leadership after reaching the sixth ring. He returned home to celebrate his advancement with his family, while preparations began to develop the troll territory into herb-growing land.

  • Patrick added revised Defense Potion and Agility Potion formulas to the Mage Tower library.
  • Lasya visited Patrick with Phil-Cabrolon's Arcane Key and told him that Phil expected him to inherit the family leadership, while Nasalan began clearing the troll territory for herb cultivation.
  • Patrick and Lasya teleported to Phil's Mage Tower, where Phil welcomed his son and celebrated his sixth-ring advancement.
  • Patrick returned to his old quarters and joined his parents, Patterson-Cabrolon, Nasalan, Lasya, and Melaris for a family banquet.

Ch. 35The banquet

Patrick attended a family banquet where his father celebrated his Sixth Ring, and the family discussed threats to their independence from Silvermoon’s powerful clans. Patrick proposed expanding the family’s herbalism business into the Life Forest and seeking royal protection through a position at the Royal Academy of Arcane Arts.

  • Old Phil toasted Patrick as the family’s first Sixth Ring mage.
  • Old Phil explained that Master Senyor Sunwing had offered a potion-making partnership that could leave the Cabrolon family under the Sunwing Family’s control, and he had declined it.
  • Patrick proposed developing the family’s herbalism business in the Life Forest, where the Council’s influence was weaker, and partnering with the Windrunners.
  • Nasalan supported cultivating herbs near Zeb'Watha and suggested asking her teacher, Botanist Frewen, to help.
  • Patrick said he planned to take a nominal position at the Royal Academy of Arcane Arts to gain advanced knowledge and secure King Anasterian’s protection.

Ch. 36The Arcane Academy

Patrick used Thas'wether's recommendation to seek membership in the Royal Academy of Arcane Arts, hoping to gain King Anasterian's protection while retaining his role in the Ghostlands. Master Sailervor agreed to pass Patrick's request to the king, leaving the decision pending.

  • Patrick explained to Old Phil that he planned to join the Royal Academy as a Sixth Ring mage, using his strength and royal ties to protect himself and his work in the Ghostlands.
  • Old Phil expressed reluctance to leave Silvermoon City, where the kingdom's resources and comfortable life were concentrated.
  • Patrick visited the Royal Academy of Arcane Arts and presented Thas'wether's letter of recommendation to Master Sailervor.
  • Sailervor praised Patrick's talent and his campaign against the trolls in the Life Forest, then said he would submit Patrick's information to King Anasterian.

Ch. 37The king

Sailervor reported Patrick Cabrolon’s request to join the Royal Academy of Arcane Arts to King Anasterian, who discussed Patrick’s abilities and the council’s political maneuvering with Vel'rilles Deep Shadow. The king decided to reward Patrick with a baron title and responsibility for the Ghostlands’ arcane energy supply while the royalists observed him.

  • Sailervor reported that Patrick Cabrolon had asked to join the Royal Academy of Arcane Arts and had brought a recommendation from Arcanist Thas'wether.
  • King Anasterian and Vel'rilles Deep Shadow praised Patrick’s actions in Life Forest and discussed his reluctance to pursue a future in Silvermoon City.
  • Vel'rilles explained how the council absorbed or marginalized rising clans and talented elves to preserve its power.
  • King Anasterian proposed awarding Patrick a baron title and putting him in charge of the Ghostlands’ arcane energy supply.
  • Sailervor agreed that Patrick’s residence at the Sun Temple would let the royalists observe him before deciding what to do next.

Ch. 38Return to the Ghostlands

Sailervor sent Telestra to the Ghostlands as an Arcane Academy envoy, carrying Patrick Cabrolon a barony, a medal, and two Sixth Ring metamagic codices. Back at Sunfury Spire, Patrick resumed his studies and began refining Flame Burial into a multistage spell.

  • Sailervor gave Telestra orders to observe Patrick at the Sun Temple and deliver him a report, two Sixth Ring metamagic codices, and recognition as a baron with the Golden Dragonhawk Medal.
  • Patrick said goodbye to his family and teleported back to Sunfury Spire in the Ghostlands, where Quelrintis welcomed him.
  • Patrick resumed arcane research and experimented with shaping arcane energy into blue roses, flames, and binding vines.
  • Remembering the danger of casting Arcane Mass Point, Patrick decided to improve his existing spells instead of relying on costly high-level magic.
  • Patrick began adapting Flame Burial into a multistage spell that bound enemies with arcane rose vines before engulfing them in flames.

Ch. 39Plans for the future

Patrick reviewed his improved Flame Burial spell and received the month’s financial report for Sunfury Spire, whose workshops had earned a substantial profit. He left Quelrintis in charge of the finances and agreed to build simple rental homes near the tower as more merchants and rangers arrived.

  • Patrick reflected that further practice could let him create multiple Arcane Roses and expand his improved Flame Burial’s area of effect.
  • Quelrintis gave Patrick the workshops’ earnings and a detailed account showing over nine hundred silver coins in net profit for the month.
  • Patrick praised Quelrintis, Idonis, and the other elves, then told them to divide the profits equally between the Mage Tower and the individuals.
  • Patrick asked who wanted to manage the Mage Tower’s finances, and Quelrintis volunteered.
  • Quelrintis reported that merchants and rangers were filling the homes near the East Sanctum and asked whether more should be built.
  • Patrick approved simple homes in the southwest of the Sun Temple to rent to merchants and rangers, and Quelrintis judged that the funds could cover them.

Ch. 40Two Windrunners

Patrick discussed expanding the Sunfury Spire’s potion business and herb cultivation with his associates before Alleria visited to report on development at Zeb'Watha and the coming ranger rotations. Sylvanas arrived to meet with Alleria, and Patrick left the sisters alone together.

  • Patrick ordered Quelrintis and the others to expand potion production, sell their products under the Sunfury Spire emblem, and asked Tranquillien to arrange more housing.
  • Alleria told Patrick that Nasalan Cabrolon had surveyed Zeb'Watha and that the Council had approved more rangers and plans to reclaim the land for herb cultivation.
  • Alleria explained that the Farstriders were preparing for the trolls’ seasonal food-gathering and that Sylvanas would come to discuss troop rotations.
  • Quelrintis informed Patrick that Sylvanas had arrived, and Patrick withdrew to his study while the two sisters talked.

Ch. 41A noble title

Patrick settled further into life in Quel'Thalas as he weighed the Royalists’ political intentions. Telestra delivered the king’s commendation, granting Patrick a baronial title and the Golden Dragonhawk Medal, though he regarded the title as largely meaningless.

  • Sylvanas questioned Alleria about her close attention to Patrick, and Alleria defended it as business while recalling his dedication to arcane study.
  • Patrick received notice that the Royal Academy of Arcane Arts was sending Telestra to present a royal commendation and considered how carefully he must navigate the Council and Royalists.
  • Telestra arrived at Sunfury Spire and waited while Patrick discussed the troll threat with Alleria and Sylvanas.
  • Patrick welcomed Telestra and invited Alleria and Sylvanas to join them as she presented the king’s commendation.
  • The commendation credited Patrick’s role in defeating the trolls’ plans and destroying Zeb’Watha, and awarded him the title of Baron and the Golden Dragonhawk Medal.

Ch. 42Telestra

Telestra delivered the royal family’s medal and letter to Patrick, then revealed she had been assigned permanently to Sunfury Spire. Patrick suspected the royal family was seeking influence there and began considering how to protect his position and increase his strength.

  • Patrick accepted the medal and letter from Telestra, thanking her for making the journey and saying that fighting Trolls was every elf’s responsibility.
  • Telestra told Patrick that Master Sailervor had assigned her to a permanent posting at Sunfury Spire, and Patrick wondered whether the royal family was extending its influence.
  • Patrick reflected on the Silvermoon Council’s voting system and the barriers facing lesser clans, then worried that royal family members might shape Sunfury Spire’s decisions.
  • Patrick asked Alleria and Sylvanas what they thought of Telestra’s posting; Sylvanas said King Anasterian might have taken an interest in him, while Alleria noted that Patrick still had a choice.
  • Patrick decided that he needed to strengthen himself and prepare for the royal family’s moves, as authority in Azeroth depended on supernatural power.
  • At her lodgings, Telestra told her companions that she would remain at Sunfury Spire as the academy’s ambassador, while they could return to Silvermoon City through its Teleportation Chamber.

Ch. 43News

Patrick received two Sixth Ring Arcane Codices and struggled to inscribe a spell circle until he mastered a preliminary version. After taking time to rest, he overheard an Elf recruiting companions to explore an ancient Titan ruin in the southern Badlands.

  • Patrick opened Master Sailervor’s reward package and found the Sixth Ring metamagic techniques Energy Disjunction and Spell Sequencing.
  • Patrick’s first attempt to inscribe a spell circle shattered because his mana control weakened while he focused on drawing its circuits and nodes.
  • Lady Ellen explained the cause and suggested stabilizing the spell circle with mental restraint and Forcefield Construction.
  • Patrick repeatedly tried again until he successfully inscribed a preliminary spell circle and absorbed the arcane knowledge it contained.
  • Patrick added collected materials to the library, noticed Telestra’s contributed books, and took the afternoon off to rest.
  • An Elf at the Rangers’ party said he was seeking companions to explore an ancient Titan ruin in the southern Badlands.

Ch. 44A down-and-out noble

Patrick became interested in the Titan ruins at Uldaman after hearing an elf describe them and summoned the explorer Lorne Songweaver to learn more. Lorne introduced himself and his travels, and Patrick asked him to explain the ruins in detail.

  • Patrick recalled that Uldaman contained Titan treasures, including an image of Norgannon and the Discs of Norgannon, and considered exploring it.
  • Patrick told Quelrintis to summon the drunken elf to Sunfury Spire after he sobered up.
  • Quelrintis brought Lorne Songweaver to meet Patrick and introduced him as a veteran explorer.
  • Lorne told Patrick that he was a down-and-out noble who had explored Loch Modan and the Badlands with companions.
  • Patrick said he was interested in the ruins and asked Lorne to describe them in detail.

Ch. 45Traveling together

Patrick agreed to join Lorne Songweaver’s expedition to Uldaman, recruited Alleria, and traveled with them to the Badlands. The group arrived near Dustwind Dig and began preparing to reach the Titan ruins.

  • Lorne Songweaver told Patrick that the Bronzebeard Dwarves had abandoned Uldaman after Troggs and Dark Iron Dwarves attacked, and that Galgann Firehammer had likely occupied the ruins.
  • Patrick offered to join Lorne Songweaver’s party and share any loot according to its rules, and Lorne agreed to contact Redul and Thelsamar.
  • Patrick invited Alleria to accompany him to the Badlands, and she accepted.
  • Patrick packed supplies, arranged for Quelrintis to manage things during his absence, and took Alleria and Lorne Songweaver through a portal to the Badlands.
  • Lorne Songweaver began guiding the group toward Dustwind Dig as Patrick surveyed the barren land and focused on reaching Uldaman.

Ch. 46Uldaman

Patrick, Alleria, and Lorne Songweaver joined Prospector Redul and Selidorin the Lost to explore Uldaman. The five reached the entrance to the Titan ruin undetected, ready to continue inside.

  • Lorne Songweaver brought Patrick and Alleria to Flame Crest and arranged rooms while he contacted Prospector Redul and Selidorin the Lost.
  • Patrick explained that he wanted to investigate Uldaman because it was a Titan ruin, and Alleria agreed the expedition seemed manageable.
  • Prospector Redul and Selidorin the Lost met the party, and they agreed to enter Uldaman at dawn during a Dark Iron Dwarf guard change.
  • The five set out under cover of darkness and used Patrick's Fade spell to slip past the workers at Excavation Site One.
  • Lorne Songweaver's party reached the Hall of the Keepers, the entrance to Uldaman.

Ch. 47The Hall of the Makers

Patrick led his companions through Uldaman, defeated Revelosh and the Troggs, and reunited Redul with three missing dwarves. After giving Redul the Shaft of Tsol and leaving Nif’s Medal with the rescued dwarves, the group continued toward the Hall of the Makers.

  • Redul warned Patrick that Troggs occupied the Hall of the Keepers, and Patrick sensed their location and strength before leading the group onward.
  • Patrick ensnared and burned the Troggs that attacked him, then defeated Revelosh with the same magic.
  • Lorne Songweaver recovered Revelosh’s staff, and Patrick gave the Shaft of Tsol to Redul before they searched for three missing dwarves.
  • The group found Erik, Olaf, and Balrog at Dig Site 2, and Olaf retrieved Nif’s Medal before joining them.
  • Following the dwarves’ map through caves inhabited by Razorbeak Bats and Venomlash Scorpids, Patrick’s party headed toward the Hall of the Makers.

Ch. 48Entering the Seat of Khaz'goroth

Patrick and his party fought their way through the Troggs to the Hall of the Makers, where they discovered the Guardian Altar that controlled the sealed passage to the Seat of Khaz'goroth. After Olaf activated it, they destroyed the four Stone Keepers, and the door to the lowest level opened.

  • Patrick bound the Cave Flameweavers and Cave Torturers with Arcane Rose vines, then defeated them with Super Arcane Magic-Flames Enveloping the Body.
  • Patrick's party reached the Hall of the Makers, where Redul and Thelsamar failed to force open the sealed stone door.
  • Patrick recognized the Guardian Altar as the likely mechanism, and Olaf aligned the slab's patterns to activate it.
  • The Stone Keepers awakened, and Alleria advised Patrick to restrain them while the dwarves attacked their joints.
  • Patrick bound each Stone Keeper as the five dwarves destroyed them, and the door to the Seat of Khaz'goroth opened.

Ch. 49This Didn't Make Sense

Patrick activated the pedestal with arcane energy, which opened the treasure room and led him to the Discs of Norgannon. A Titan named Lorekeeper Norgannon appeared in Patrick’s mind and explained the origins of the Earthen and dwarves.

  • Patrick used arcane energy to activate the pedestal, awakening Archaedas and the surrounding Earthen and Stone Managers.
  • Archaedas and the other guardians abruptly turned back into stone, leaving Patrick, Alleria, and the dwarves unharmed.
  • The gate behind Archaedas opened, revealing a treasure room and the Discs of Norgannon.
  • Patrick was drawn to the Discs and touched them, whereupon Lorekeeper Norgannon appeared in his mind.
  • Lorekeeper Norgannon told Patrick that the Titans created the Earthen, whose failed early forms became Troggs and whose later descendants became dwarves after the Curse of Flesh.

Ch. 50The Discs of Norgannon

Patrick fell into a trance while touching the Discs of Norgannon and spoke with Norgannon, who explained that the Pantheon had found a growing Titan soul within Azeroth and clarified the nature of different energies. Patrick received the Four Discs of Norgannon's Arcane Truth and woke hours later, with Alleria and the others relieved.

  • Alleria noticed Patrick had become unresponsive beside the discs and found that a force repelled anyone who tried to reach him.
  • Norgannon told Patrick that Aman'Thul had discovered an incomplete Titan soul within Azeroth and that the Pantheon had nurtured it with arcane energy and the force of nature.
  • Norgannon explained the differences between energies inclined toward order, pure Holy Light, and shadow, then gave Patrick a sigil as his reward: the Four Discs of Norgannon's Arcane Truth.
  • While Patrick remained in a trance for several hours, Alleria and the others failed to wake him, and the dwarves collected and packed the treasure.
  • Patrick woke feeling weak, and Alleria supported him as Lorne Songweaver, Olaf, Prospector Redul, and Prospector Thelsamar told him how long he had been motionless.
