History
Helen’s Soul and Darren’s Grudge
Korno sacrificed Helen’s soul to the Darkness Sovereign, earning the lifelong hatred of her beloved, Darren. After becoming a deity, Darren repeatedly sought revenge but could not overcome Korno’s escape techniques. By the time of their final confrontation, Darren had waited sixty-three thousand and twenty-one years for revenge 27 28.
Korno cultivated for well over one hundred thousand years and lived in seclusion in the Xiuyisi Mountain Range. Like other deities of the Dark Church, he generally remained apart from secular affairs, which were mostly managed by Saint-level experts 29.
Final Confrontation
After recruiting Luo Ao, Darren attacked Korno’s mountain retreat and drew him out with a sword strike that triggered an avalanche. Korno dismissed Luo Ao as an inexperienced new deity and confidently evaded Darren’s opening attack with a Shadow Clone. He also taunted Darren by claiming that Helen had become a “supremely glorious Fallen Angel” 29.
Luo Ao responded by overlapping his water and fire God’s Domains. The resulting restraint drastically reduced Korno’s speed and exposed flaws in his clones. Unable to escape, Korno begged for mercy and invoked his Dark Church affiliation, but Luo Ao refused to spare him 29.
While Luo Ao held Korno’s true body in place, Darren shattered his divine-power armor and wounded his chest. Korno healed himself and threatened both attackers, prompting Darren to abandon further torment and use his strongest attack. The blow destroyed Korno’s body below the chest; Darren then shattered his head with a final sword strike 30.
Aftermath
Luo Ao collected Korno’s darkness Divine Spark, Space Ring, and Divine Artifacts as his agreed payment. He later gave the Divine Spark to his father, Bourne, who refined it and became a deity 30 31 35.
Gu’en investigated the death and concluded that Darren could not have killed Korno alone. Concerned that an unknown expert might threaten the Dark Church, he notified the Shadow Courtyard rather than seeking revenge. The report drew Xide’s interest in Luo Ao and helped prompt his later visit 31 32 33.
Appearance
- Elderly appearance: Described as a sinister old man 29.
- Clothing: Wears black robes 28 29.
- Expression: Frequently displays a sinister gaze and an arrogant sneer during his confrontation with Darren and Luo Ao 29.
Personality
Korno is cruel and deliberately provocative. Rather than expressing remorse for Helen’s fate, he presents her transformation into a Fallen Angel as an honor and uses it to inflame Darren’s grief. Gu’en likewise regards him as utterly lawless 29 31.
His confidence rests heavily on his ability to survive. He treats Darren and Luo Ao as juniors incapable of killing him, only to beg for mercy once his escape technique fails. During the battle, he alternates between pleading, invoking the Dark Church’s protection, and threatening his attackers with future regret 29 30.
Abilities & Skills
Shadow Clone Technique
Korno’s principal survival technique creates sixteen clones and allows him to evade attacks through exchanges between his true body and the shadows 29 30 33.
- Evasion: Previously prevented Darren from killing him because Darren could neither identify his true body nor destroy all sixteen clones at once 30.
- Survivability: Gu’en considers his escape ability first-rate among Lowgods and doubts that even two or three ordinary Lowgods could easily kill him 31.
- Limits: Luo Ao’s overlapping domains slow his movements enough to expose flaws in the clones. Luo Ao’s God-level soul strength also allows him to identify and restrain Korno’s true body 29 30.
- Comparison: His ordinary Shadow Clones lack the additional deceptive properties demonstrated by Xide’s enhanced version 33.
Darkness God’s Domain
Korno can deploy a God’s Domain to control surrounding darkness elements 29.
- He uses it to resist Luo Ao’s restraint, but remains severely slowed 29 30.
- Within Luo Ao’s overlapping domains, the dark elemental power available to him becomes much thinner 30.
Dark Divine Power
Korno uses Dark Divine Power for defense and recovery 30.
- Defensive armor: Forms a protective layer over his body, which Darren breaks with a sword strike 30.
- Healing: Repairs his chest wound with divine power 30.
- Combat limitation: His chosen Darkness Law mysteries are poor at direct combat; Darren is stronger in a head-on fight 27 29 30.
Equipment & Possessions
- Black dagger — A Divine Artifact used against Darren’s sword; fails to stop Darren’s strongest attack 29 30.
- Space Ring — Contains ores, Divine Artifact crafting materials, Saint-level magic cores, and other resources. Luo Ao finds no additional Divine Spark inside 31.
- Darkness Divine Spark — Recovered from his shattered head and later given to Bourne for refinement 30 31.
- Other Divine Artifacts — Collected by Luo Ao after his death 30.
Relationships
- Helen — Victim whose soul he sacrificed to the Darkness Sovereign. Korno claims she subsequently became a Fallen Angel 27 29.
- Darren — Longstanding enemy who ultimately kills him to avenge Helen 27 30.
- Luo Ao — Decisive opponent whose overlapping God’s Domains neutralize Korno’s escape methods 29 30.
- Gu’en — Fellow Dark Church deity, older but weaker than Korno; investigates his death and seeks protection against further conflict 31.
