Chapters 251–275 Vol. 3 Read

Ch. 251Not waking

While Mery and Jaguar Man waited for Bai Mo and Manaka to return from Tiamat’s mental world, they worried about the danger of a fight with the Primordial Mother Goddess. Inside that world, Bai Mo saw the severe damage to his soul, then a woman mistook his injuries for harm she had caused and dragged him and Manaka toward her home.

  • Jaguar Man tied ropes around Marduk’s hand axe and complained to Mery about the group’s prospects against Enlil and Tiamat.
  • Mery and Jaguar Man speculated about Bai Mo’s encounter with Tiamat, with Mery imagining they might become allies and Jaguar Man fearing a catastrophic battle.
  • Bai Mo and Manaka arrived in a city within Tiamat’s mental world, where Manaka saw that much of Bai Mo’s soul appeared damaged or missing.
  • Manaka urged Bai Mo to leave Uruk and let her help repair his soul, but Bai Mo gently refused and pulled his hand away.
  • A horned woman carrying groceries collided with them, apologized to Bai Mo, and dragged him and Manaka down the avenue toward her home.

Ch. 252Nonexistent

Bai Mo and Manaka found Tiamat living in a dreamlike home inside her prison, where she treated Bai Mo as injured and prepared a meal for imagined guests. Manaka secretly planned to keep Bai Mo from leaving, while Bai Mo and Tiamat finished cooking for fourteen; Tiamat then addressed the empty table as if Enlil and Ishtar were there.

  • Tiamat brought ointment to treat Bai Mo’s nonexistent left arm, but Manaka took over and said she understood his condition.
  • Bai Mo and Manaka concluded they needed to leave Tiamat’s dream and rely on her to find the prison’s exit, since Ereshkigal likely could not help.
  • Manaka secretly resolved to use the Beast’s authority to interfere with Bai Mo’s Command Spell and keep him in the prison.
  • Bai Mo helped Tiamat prepare food, while Manaka imagined making him breakfast and suggested a picnic.
  • Tiamat set out fourteen portions and warned the empty table not to bully Manaka or prank their guest, naming Enlil and Ishtar.

Ch. 253Unwilling to Wake

Bai Mo and Manaka visited Tiamat in a dream where she lived with imagined children, and Bai Mo realized she was choosing not to wake. When Bai Mo asked to leave, Tiamat fell silent before agreeing to guide them out.

  • Bai Mo recognized that Tiamat was willingly immersed in Mery's dream and that Kingu could only end it by killing Gorgon.
  • Tiamat asked about Bai Mo's family, and he said he had left his parents at fourteen and been raised by someone kind.
  • Manaka took Bai Mo's hand, but he pulled away and knocked her on the head, interrupting the moment.
  • Tiamat asked whether Bai Mo and Manaka were companions or lovers, and Bai Mo called them companions while Manaka moved her chair closer to him.
  • Bai Mo asked Tiamat how they could leave, and she grew quiet before agreeing to take them out.

Ch. 254"Ereshkigal"

Bai Mo and Manaka escaped Tiamat’s dream after Tiamat chose to remain behind, then used a Command Spell to summon Ereshkigal in the Sea of Imaginary Numbers. The summoned figure appeared asleep and carried an ancient aura unlike the Ereshkigal Bai Mo knew.

  • Bai Mo realized Tiamat’s resistance was keeping them from reaching the city gate and invited her to leave with them, but she refused and asked them to go without her.
  • Tiamat bid Bai Mo and Manaka farewell, and Bai Mo led Manaka over the wall and out of the dream through a rift opened with the Real of the World.
  • Bai Mo used the marker Dark Leiao had left to travel through the Sea of Imaginary Numbers, while Manaka secretly tried to disrupt his summoning with a beast’s call.
  • Bai Mo invoked his Command Spell to summon Ereshkigal, and the stone tablet helped the summoning succeed despite Manaka’s interference.
  • A sleeping figure resembling Ereshkigal appeared amid a surge of blue-violet power, and Bai Mo shielded Manaka from it.

Ch. 255Dissolution

Bai Mo learned that Ereshkigal was dissolving as a mysterious being merged with her, threatening to shatter her Spirit Origin. He charged into the spatial torrent to save her, while Manaka realized he had never intended to abandon her and became consumed by possessive desire.

  • Ereshkigal released a catastrophic torrent of power that warped space, and Bai Wunan warned Bai Mo to retreat if he could not withstand it.
  • War God Ke Bao used his Heavenly Eye to see that Ereshkigal was dissolving as power poured out of her body and her form cracked.
  • Manaka explained that Ereshkigal might be merging with a being drawn to her summoning in the Sea of Imaginary Numbers, a process that could destroy her Spirit Origin.
  • Bai Mo used the Real of the World and his sword to cut through the turbulent spacetime, then advanced toward Ereshkigal despite Manaka's warning.
  • Bai Mo vowed to bring Ereshkigal and Manaka back safely, and Manaka realized he had never considered abandoning or using her.
  • Manaka's affection for Bai Mo turned into a fierce desire to keep him all to herself.

Ch. 256Passing through

Bai Mo endured the spatial turbulence surrounding the unconscious “Ereshkigal” to study spatial power, while using the Asura Eternal Life Art to keep himself and Manaka alive. When “Ereshkigal” awakened and unleashed a wave of spatial power, Bai Mo discovered he could pass through it unharmed.

  • Bai Mo decided he had to save Ereshkigal because losing her would let Enlil take control of the Underworld.
  • The Great Blade Martial God used the Real of the World to cut a path through the spatial turbulence, but could not get close enough to “Ereshkigal.”
  • Bai Mo refused to absorb the Real of the World and let the turbulence slice him apart so he could study spatial power, regenerating with the Asura Eternal Life Art.
  • Manaka stayed close behind Bai Mo as the turbulence injured them both, privately taking comfort in their shared pain.
  • After an unknown amount of time, “Ereshkigal” recovered and unleashed a vast surge of spatial power.
  • Bai Mo raised his hand and passed through the spatial barrier unharmed.

Ch. 257Beyond the universe

Bai Mo met Ninkigal, a goddess who had taken over Ereshkigal’s body, in the Sea of Imaginary Numbers. Ninkigal offered to help him escape in exchange for dealing with Dark Leiao, leaving Bai Mo to consider the bargain.

  • Ninkigal revealed that she was not Ereshkigal and said Ereshkigal would return after she left the body.
  • Ninkigal insisted Bai Mo take responsibility for bringing her out of her temple, while Manaka tried to persuade her to drop the demand.
  • Bai Mo agreed to hear Ninkigal’s request after realizing he had run into trouble.
  • Ninkigal offered to help Bai Mo escape the Sea of Imaginary Numbers and grant him other assistance if he helped her deal with Dark Leiao.
  • Ninkigal told Bai Mo he could take as long as he liked to consider her offer.

Ch. 258A promise

Bai Mo returned to Uruk with Ereshkigal, established a contract with Ninkigal, and reassured Ereshkigal that she had helped him. As Gilgamesh asked what had happened, Ishtar appeared, leaving him puzzled by how she and Ereshkigal could be present separately, while Ninkigal planned to meet a soul from beyond this world.

  • Gilgamesh enjoyed a rare spell of peace in Uruk before Bai Mo and Ninkigal emerged from a portal with Ereshkigal.
  • Ninkigal confirmed her contract with Bai Mo, offered him a goddess's blessing, and departed after he declined.
  • Ereshkigal emerged from the Starry Night, stumbled in the air, and felt ashamed that she had failed to help Bai Mo.
  • Bai Mo reassured Ereshkigal that her support had helped him, then escaped Arcueid's playful pin and praised her progress.
  • Gilgamesh asked Bai Mo to explain what had happened and questioned how Ereshkigal could be there while Ishtar approached outside.
  • Ninkigal awoke far away and decided to make a memorable impression when she eventually collected a soul from beyond this world.

Ch. 259Whereabouts

Bai Mo told the others about Ninkigal and distributed the recovered Me, while Gilgamesh realized Enlil had used one to mark Uruk. The Me led them to Ishtar’s tower, where they caught her trying to hide a black gemstone connected to the signal.

  • Ereshkigal discovered that she could leave the Underworld in her own body, and Bai Mo explained that Ninkigal had removed her restrictions while occupying it.
  • Bai Mo recounted Ninkigal’s origins and his plans to face Dark Leiao, then brought the group to a council chamber in Uruk.
  • Bai Mo showed the group the recovered Me, and Gilgamesh concluded that Enlil had used the Me of exploration to plant coordinates in Uruk.
  • One Me pointed toward Ishtar’s tower, so Ishtar rushed inside, claiming she would punish Kingu while secretly searching for evidence.
  • Ishtar found a black gemstone carrying magical energy, and Bai Mo, Ereshkigal, and Gilgamesh caught her with it.

Ch. 260The blasphemous stone tablet

Gilgamesh and the others discovered that Ishtar had hidden a dangerous gem in the tower after sneaking away from her post to recover lost treasures. Gilgamesh punished her with a debt and new restrictions, while Ishtar begged Bai Mo for help and was refused.

  • Bai Mo noticed a gem in the tower that he had not seen before, and Arcueid and Ereshkigal suspected Ishtar had recovered and hidden it.
  • Ishtar admitted that she had secretly left Uruk to search for her lost gems and concealed the suspicious stone despite recognizing something was wrong.
  • Gilgamesh condemned Ishtar for abandoning her duty and ordered her to wear a tablet calling herself an idiot goddess.
  • Gilgamesh threatened to hold Ishtar responsible at a compensation ratio of one to five hundred and planned to add Magecraft restrictions to her contract.
  • Ishtar clung to Bai Mo and begged him to save her from the debt, but he refused and told her to take responsibility.

Ch. 261What he desired

Bai Mo questioned Enki about Enlil’s motives and learned that Enlil had pursued power at the expense of love, treating Gorgon and Uruk as expendable test subjects. Bai Mo left the hot spring, preparing for the decisive battle against Enlil.

  • Gilgamesh invited Bai Mo to rest with him in the royal hot spring, while Bai Mo urged him to take care of himself.
  • Enki appeared in his original form and told Bai Mo he had come to fulfill his promise before the decisive battle.
  • Bai Mo asked Enki what Bai Lubao had told Enlil and why Enlil sought humanity’s destruction.
  • Enki explained that Enlil had sought greater power, killed his siblings for their divine cores, and turned to Demon Gods and the Sea of Imaginary Numbers when he reached his limit.
  • Enki said Enlil had used Gorgon as an experimental subject and likely invaded Uruk to test the new Lahmu.
  • Bai Mo reacted with cold anger, left the spring, and challenged Enki not to hide during the coming battle.

Ch. 262What He Sought

Ereshkigal discovered that her new body could let her survive beyond the Age of Gods, but Enlil attacked the Underworld before she could decide what to do. Bai Mo arrived in time to save her and faced Enlil after nearly beheading him.

  • Ereshkigal returned to the Underworld with a physical body that freed her from Ishtar and could let her survive the Age of Gods.
  • Dumuzi urged Ereshkigal to consider surviving into the modern era and sharing Underworld duties with Bai Mo, earning himself a beating.
  • Ereshkigal sensed an attack on the Underworld and informed Bai Mo through their contract as Enlil's wind blade tore through soul cages.
  • Ereshkigal blocked Enlil's strike with the Underworld's power, but his winds shattered her double-ended spear and he lunged at her with a black saber.
  • Bai Mo appeared between Ereshkigal and Enlil, struck Enlil hard enough to notch his saber and wound his neck, and confronted him.

Ch. 263Punishment

Ninkigal trapped Manaka in the Sea of Imaginary Numbers as punishment for interfering with Bai Mo’s summoning, but Manaka resolved to escape and reach Tiamat. Meanwhile, Bai Mo fought Enlil in the Underworld as Ereshkigal protected the souls and sensed that the stolen half of the Underworld’s authority was hidden in a region the battle avoided.

  • Ninkigal revealed that Manaka had added a Beast’s power to the summoning to make the Command Spells fail, then bound her in the Sea of Imaginary Numbers as punishment and warned her to stay away from Bai Mo.
  • Manaka protested that she had helped Chaldea for Bai Mo’s sake, then spotted a fissure leading toward Tiamat and decided she would not remain trapped.
  • Bai Mo and Enlil continued their fierce battle in the Underworld, and Enlil recognized that Bai Mo did not share the Thirteenth Grand Protector’s world or assumptions about serving the gods.
  • Ereshkigal protected the Underworld’s souls while trying to support Bai Mo, and she sensed that the stolen half of the Underworld’s authority resisted her perception in a region the fighters avoided.

Ch. 264Living Weapon

Bai Mo fought Enlil at the edge of the Underworld, overwhelming him with the power of the Complete Realm despite Enlil’s storms and Lahmu weapon. After revealing that he had held back in their earlier encounter, Bai Mo charged at Enlil, who prepared to meet his attack.

  • Enlil tried to retreat from Bai Mo, but Bai Mo used the Hell Samsara Sword to block his escape.
  • Enlil unleashed divine-punishment spears through a storm, but Bai Mo broke through them with Limitless Tremor Zen and damaged Enlil’s Lahmu weapon.
  • Enlil trapped Bai Mo in an improved Bone-Shaving Wind while Ereshkigal considered attacking Enlil’s controlled territory to help him.
  • Bai Mo tore through the storm using the Asura Way and revealed a surging aura after activating the Orca Heaven and Earth Way.
  • Enlil claimed his greater horsepower gave him the advantage, but Bai Mo charged at him and declared that he would die if that was his full strength.

Ch. 265Black and white

Bai Mo defeated Enlil in the Underworld, then stopped the World-Destroying Demon God from killing Ereshkigal. Enlil and the Thirteenth Grand Protector prepared to begin their plan, with Enlil bidding farewell to his homeland.

  • Bai Mo overwhelmed Enlil, breaking the fighting rhythm he had maintained with the Lahmu saber and leaving him badly beaten.
  • The Thirteenth Grand Protector entered the World-Destroying Demon God, which swallowed nearby souls and attacked Ereshkigal.
  • Bai Mo arrived and used Mad Giant Shark’s Peerless Demon Blade to cut through the Demon God’s attack, saving Ereshkigal.
  • Bai Mo realized the Demon God was a newly born life-form created through research into the Underworld’s power, and Enlil fled to Heaven.
  • The Thirteenth Grand Protector discussed improving the Demon God with Enlil, who rejected risking another Demon God and declared that they could begin the plan.

Ch. 266Something worth doing

Bai Mo encouraged Ereshkigal after she blamed herself for the Underworld’s losses, then asked her to analyze a virus that could threaten the coming battle. Ereshkigal accepted the task with renewed determination, while Ishtar teased Bai Mo about her feelings for him.

  • Gilgamesh watched Uruk celebrate as Ereshkigal sat alone, blaming herself for the damage to the Underworld and the souls lost.
  • Ishtar tried to console Ereshkigal, but Ereshkigal drove her away by throwing rocks at her.
  • Bai Mo let Ereshkigal’s rock hit him, then reassured her that she had done her best and had not failed.
  • Bai Mo gave Ereshkigal a book about a virus targeting magnetic field experts and asked her to find a way to counter it.
  • Ereshkigal accepted the work and promised to have results by morning.
  • Ishtar later teased Bai Mo, saying he had a rare chance to win Ereshkigal’s affection.

Ch. 267Putting Yourself in Their Shoes

Bai Mo dismissed Ishtar’s mistaken assumptions and explained that he wanted Rin’s help analyzing a virus. Crimson Moon confronted him about tolerating disrespect, but Bai Mo reassured her that he understood why others had acted as they did, leaving her visibly relieved before she returned to Arcueid.

  • Ishtar teased Bai Mo about his relationship with Rin, and he clarified that he had asked Rin to help analyze a virus.
  • Ishtar warned Bai Mo that a woman left unsatisfied could eventually beat him to his knees, then departed.
  • Crimson Moon told Bai Mo she had witnessed Ereshkigal’s accidental stone attack and criticized him for accepting such disrespect.
  • Crimson Moon proposed teaching Bai Mo noble etiquette so he would respond to rudeness and discourage others from taking advantage of him.
  • Bai Mo argued that Ishtar’s and Crimson Moon’s past behavior had understandable causes, and Crimson Moon admitted she had been offensive when they first met.
  • Crimson Moon asked whether Bai Mo truly did not mind her past conduct, and he smiled and nodded.

Ch. 268The sky fell

Bai Mo asked Arcueid to protect Uruk while he dealt with Enlil and the Thirteenth Grand Protector, and they negotiated how often she could drink his blood. Mery then reported that Manaka was safe but unreachable and showed Bai Mo a distant sky collapsing toward the earth.

  • Crimson Moon mocked Arcueid and told her to grow stronger and bring Bai Mo back to the Millennium Castle.
  • Bai Mo asked Arcueid to defend Uruk from the City of Lahmu, and she agreed in exchange for drinking his blood twice.
  • Mery arrived and told Bai Mo that Manaka had not returned, though she was unharmed and somewhere safe.
  • Bai Mo entered Mery's mind to view what her [Clairvoyance] saw and discovered that the sky was falling toward the earth.

Ch. 269Chaos

As the sky began collapsing into chaos, Bai Mo and the Uruk leaders debated Enlil’s motives and agreed that Bai Mo would confront him while Arcueid guarded Uruk. Gilgamesh gave Bai Mo a key to his treasury, and Bai Mo departed for the final battle as Enki returned to the city in disguise.

  • Quetzal explained that Enlil was undoing the separation of heaven and earth and returning the world to chaos, while the collapsing sky’s affected area continued to expand.
  • Ishtar urged Gilgamesh to commit all their forces against Enlil, but Gilgamesh warned that the enemy’s apparent openness might conceal a trap.
  • Bai Mo proposed following their earlier plan, with him fighting and Arcueid guarding Uruk, and insisted that Ishtar and Ereshkigal stay out of danger.
  • Bai Mo suggested Enlil had eliminated the powerful Sumerian gods because he needed them all dead, and Gilgamesh agreed to the plan.
  • Gilgamesh gave Bai Mo a spare key to the Gate of Babylon and vowed that Uruk would stand until he died in battle; Bai Mo then left for the final battle.
  • Enki returned to his aged appearance and quietly walked among Uruk’s people.

Ch. 270Heaven and Earth

Bai Mo fought Enlil in Mesopotamia while Arcueid defended Uruk from the Lahmu. After entering Enlil’s Space-Time Wind, Bai Mo discovered the scheme to create a new divine body from two World-Destroying Demon Gods and the power of other gods.

  • Enlil summoned a storm and sent Lahmu to attack Uruk, where Arcueid protected the city with Millennium Castle and the Real of the World.
  • Bai Mo dodged Enlil’s spear and resisted his Space-Time Wind, then used Whale Dominates the World to close in on him.
  • Bai Mo realized Enlil was trying to lure him through the Space-Time Wind and plunged through it instead of pursuing an attack.
  • The Thirteenth Grand Protector emerged from a stone stele after sacrificing Lahmu to it.
  • Bai Mo found two World-Destroying Demon Gods merging within the chaos and deduced that Enlil was forging a new divine body from them and the other gods.
  • Bai Wunan warned Bai Mo about the embryo’s power and called it the Heaven and Earth Demon God.

Ch. 271Heaven and Earth Demon God

Bai Mo fought Enlil and the Thirteenth Grand Protector while the Heaven and Earth Demon God gestated in the collapsing heavens. He tricked the two attackers into striking each other, then used their power to kill the Thirteenth Grand Protector.

  • Ereshkigal realized Enlil had sought the Underworld’s authority to accelerate the birth of the Heaven and Earth Demon God, and Bai Mo attacked the monster with Heaven-Severing Way.
  • A restored whale from the Sea of Imaginary Numbers intercepted Bai Mo’s attack as Enlil and the Thirteenth Grand Protector attacked him from opposite sides.
  • Bai Mo let Enlil’s spear and the Thirteenth Grand Protector’s Heart-Crushing Electric Claw converge, using the spear to block the claw and injure the Thirteenth Grand Protector.
  • Enlil detonated his spear inside Bai Mo, but Bai Mo absorbed the attack with his complete realm and seized the Thirteenth Grand Protector.
  • Bai Mo unleashed Zen-shaking Samsara, causing the Thirteenth Grand Protector to burst into a rain of blood.

Ch. 272Choices

Bai Mo defeated Enlil’s remaining defenses as Enlil sacrificed his divine core and accelerated the creation of the Heaven and Earth Demon God to bring down the sky. Bai Mo restored the sky and took the core, convinced Enlil had only prepared the way for someone else to claim the body and suffer a devastating betrayal.

  • Bai Mo recovered from the Thirteenth Grand Protector’s attack, removed Enlil’s Evil Wind curse with Enki’s water of life, and challenged Enlil to continue fighting.
  • Enlil sent the wounded imaginary-number whale to intercept Bai Mo’s Heaven-Severing Way, then extracted his divine core and authority as king of the gods to accelerate the embryo’s development.
  • Enlil sent his divine core away and announced that its destruction would collapse Heaven and bring down Mesopotamia, forcing Bai Mo to choose between pursuing him and saving the world.
  • Bai Mo used the Blade of Hell to strike Enlil but turned away before killing him and raced to seize the divine core.
  • Bai Mo connected to the core’s authority and restored the collapsing sky, while Enlil rushed toward the shrinking embryo.
  • Bai Mo told Bai Wunan that Enlil was destined to lose the Heaven and Earth Demon God’s body and would suffer a painful death after paving the way for someone else.

Ch. 273King of the Gods

  • Enlil entered the embryo, determined to claim its body and gain the power to defeat Bai Mo.
  • Enlil awoke in darkness and encountered the souls of the gods he had killed, including Nanna and Marduk.
  • The gods surrounded Enlil and declared that they had come to kill him and take control of the body.

  • Enlil condemned the gods as hypocrites, reminding them of their own violence against their parents, kin, and the craftsman gods.
  • Enlil dismissed the gods as defeated enemies and challenged them to fight.

Ch. 274The victor takes all

Thirteenth Grand Protector defeated Enlil and emerged as the last victor of the slaughter among the gods of Sumer. He revealed his Heaven and Earth Demon God body to Bai Mo and attacked him, intending to devour his power and complete his transformation.

  • Thirteenth Grand Protector revealed that he had used the returning Primordial Spirit power of the dead Sumerian gods to turn them against Enlil.
  • Enlil admitted defeat, but Thirteenth Grand Protector killed him anyway and claimed victory over the gods of Sumer.
  • Thirteenth Grand Protector emerged from the chaos in the Heaven and Earth Demon God body, briefly taking Bai Chou's appearance before returning to his own.

  • Thirteenth Grand Protector absorbed the chaos and announced that he would kill Bai Mo, take his appearance, and devour the goddess of the Underworld.
  • Thirteenth Grand Protector lunged at Bai Mo with claws extended.

Ch. 275Luring Away

Bai Mo battled the Thirteenth Grand Protector across the plain while Ishtar and Gilgamesh defended Uruk from the Lahmu. After revealing the Darkness Asura Way, Bai Mo left the fight poised to turn the battle.

  • Bai Mo told Ereshkigal to leave Uruk and head toward the City of Kussa, so she flew away while Ishtar remained to fight the Lahmu.
  • Gilgamesh wounded the Lahmu with Marduk's hand axe, and Ishtar used her gems to finish off the injured creatures.
  • Bai Mo and the Thirteenth Grand Protector traded powerful attacks, and the Grand Protector froze Bai Mo before Bai Mo shattered the ice and struck back with Limitless Tremor Zen.
  • The Thirteenth Grand Protector healed his severed arms with the Eighty-Fifth Heaven-Asura Rebirth Art, grew two more arms, and attacked Bai Mo with Triple Rapid Bullet Fist.
  • Bai Mo caught the Grand Protector's punches and revealed that his technique was the Darkness Asura Way, not the Bai Family's Asura Art.
