Chapters 101–110 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 101The Dissipation of the Black Energy

Dath'Remar, secretly controlled by black energy, fought the Wild Bear Loa priest while manipulating the Highborne into feeding the battle with casualties. After the Hand of the Bright Moon defeated the priest, Jarod Shadowsong stabbed Dath'Remar and began purifying the black energy in his soul.

  • Dath'Remar charged the Wild Bear Loa priest, then pretended to need rescuing so more Highborne soldiers would die.
  • The Hand of the Bright Moon held the priest back as Kaostin and the three Troll chieftains attacked the main Highborne force.
  • Dath'Remar deliberately let the priest knock him down, distracting the Highborne and giving the priest a chance to kill more soldiers.
  • The Hand of the Bright Moon ignored Dath'Remar's fall and beat the Wild Bear Loa priest unconscious, causing his body to return to its original form.
  • Jarod Shadowsong stabbed Dath'Remar and used the Silver Blade to begin purifying the black energy in his soul.

Ch. 102The Dust Settled

Jarod used the Silver Blade to purge the Old Gods’ black gas from Dath'Remar, while the Forest Trolls renewed their attack on the distracted Highborne. After Dath'Remar woke, Jarod led the Hand of the Bright Moon against the trolls, and the Wild Bear Loa priest escaped unnoticed.

  • Jarod stabbed Dath'Remar with the Silver Blade, drawing the Highborne’s attention and allowing Kaostin to rally the Forest Trolls into another charge.
  • The Highborne captain ordered the soldiers to hold the line and protect the civilians and wounded behind them.
  • The Hand of the Bright Moon knocked down Dath'Remar’s guards while Jarod purified the black gas and the Shamans healed Dath'Remar’s wound.
  • Jarod led the Hand of the Bright Moon in a surprise attack on the Forest Trolls’ rear, leaving Dath'Remar with his personal guards.
  • Dath'Remar woke with a severe headache, and while his guards gathered around him, the Wild Bear Loa priest escaped.

Ch. 103The Dawn of the Highborne

Jarod cleansed Dath'Remar of the black energy, but the damage to his soul left him weakened. As the Forest Troll assault continued, Dath'Remar joined the fight, while Snyder defeated the Eagle and Lynx Loa priests at the vanguard.

  • Jarod used the Silver Blade to remove the black energy from Dath'Remar, who woke with his soul and power badly damaged.
  • Dath'Remar learned that Jarod had saved him, thanked the Forest Trolls for exposing the control, and sent his guards to aid their allies.
  • Bandersson summoned venomous insects and then shielded nearby Forest Trolls with a totem, forcing Daren Theron’s rear guard to keep fighting under pressure.
  • Snyder countered the Eagle Loa priest’s lightning beam with Lava Burst, burning the priest and ending their duel.
  • The Lynx Loa priest attacked Snyder from behind, but Snyder kicked him away and struck him down, leaving both Loa priests incapacitated.

Ch. 104The Elves' Victory

After Snyder defeated the Forest Trolls’ Loa priests, Shadra covered the Amani retreat and challenged Snyder to a duel, but Snyder killed him. Kaostin then heard the special eagle’s cry and ordered his forces to retreat.

  • Shadra ordered the Amani warriors to withdraw while he and his personal guards stayed behind to hold off Snyder.
  • Shadra’s personal guards returned to stand with him, and he challenged Snyder to a one-on-one fight.
  • Snyder killed Shadra by tearing out his heart, and the Hand of the Bright Moon cut down Shadra’s guards when they tried to avenge him.
  • Snyder sent part of the elven allied forces to support the center and rear, while Kaostin’s force came under pressure from elves attacking from behind.
  • Kaostin recognized the eagle’s cry as a sign that something had happened to Shadra and ordered the Forest Trolls to retreat.

Ch. 105All Things Come to an End

After Shadra’s death, the Forest Trolls began retreating, but Kaostin’s escape plan left Zakas trapped while Ennoka fought Dath'Remar. Bandersson also ordered a retreat after seeing the eagle’s signal, leaving the remaining Forest Trolls surrounded and the Amani Clan best positioned to benefit.

  • Kaostin and Krongsai ordered their troops to retreat, while Ennoka led his Warriors toward Dath'Remar to seek glory.
  • Kaostin used Zakas’s troops to delay the Hand of the Bright Moon, then escaped with his own forces and Krongsai’s troops.
  • The Hand of the Bright Moon surrounded Zakas, who rallied his few remaining fighters to resist.
  • Bandersson saw the distinctive eagle and ordered an orderly retreat, allowing Daren Theron’s Highborne to repair their defenses.
  • Ennoka continued fighting Dath'Remar while surrounded, and Zakas was left with only a few wounded Forest Trolls.

Ch. 106The Old Gives Way to the New

After defeating the Forest Trolls, Dath'Remar gathered the surviving Highborne and continued toward their new home. At the Amani settlement, Kaostin named Jeffrey the next chieftain and prepared to clear the way for his rule.

  • Kaostin led his battered army to the Amani settlement as the Forest Troll clans emerged weakened from their defeat.
  • Dath'Remar reunited with Snyder and Daren Theron, learned that the rearguard had also survived the Forest Troll retreat, and ordered the Highborne to travel together toward their destination.
  • Dath'Remar told the civilians that the Forest Trolls had retreated, then assembled the troops and set out with them.
  • Kaostin returned to the Amani camp and told Jeffrey that Shadra had died and that Jeffrey would become the new chieftain.
  • Jeffrey accepted his appointment and went to prepare for the inauguration ceremony while Kaostin set out to find Bandersson and secure his position.

Ch. 107A Kingdom Takes Shape

Dath'Remar led the Highborne to a lake and used water from the Well of Eternity to create the Sunwell, beginning the establishment of their new kingdom. After Snyder and the Hand of the Bright Moon departed, Dath'Remar prepared a magical barrier to defend the settlement from the Forest Trolls.

  • Dath'Remar brought the Highborne to a lake where magical energy was strongest and poured his vial of water from the Well of Eternity into it.
  • The waters reacted and created a magical spring that Dath'Remar named the Sunwell, prompting the Highborne to cheer for him and the Sunstriders.
  • Snyder warned Dath'Remar that the Forest Trolls remained a threat, then departed through a portal with Jarod and the Hand of the Bright Moon.
  • Dath'Remar decided to summon the strongest Archmages to build a protective barrier and assigned Daren Theron to guard the Sunwell.
  • The Highborne began settling their new home, establishing the foundation of their kingdom.

Ch. 108A New Nation, a New King

Jeffrey became the Amani Clan's chieftain as the other Forest Troll clans joined him, while Dath'Remar was crowned king of the Highborne. Their rise marked the start of a war between the two peoples, and Snyder returned to Hailidos to face a tense encounter between Maiev and Azshara.

  • Kaostin forced Krongsai to join the Amani Clan by revealing that Krongsai's people were in Amani hands.
  • Jeffrey was inaugurated as the Amani Clan's new chieftain, and the other Forest Troll chieftains declared their clans' allegiance to him.
  • Jeffrey ordered his forces to recover and prepare to attack the invading Highborne.
  • Dath'Remar held a celebration in the newly built Highborne city and was crowned king.
  • Snyder returned to Hailidos and reviewed paperwork while Maiev watched, then Azshara entered the room.

Ch. 109Recovery and Renewal

Snyder focused on rebuilding the Eternal Elves while conflicts in the Eastern Kingdoms escalated among the High Elves, Forest Trolls, and humans. Fandral Staghelm’s World Trees suppressed Saronite but awakened Yogg-Saron’s influence in the Emerald Dream, and the chapter ended with Snyder learning that the Old Gods could escape their prisons in a few thousand years.

  • Snyder began renewing the Eternal Elves’ kingdom and hid an expanded fleet landing site that he would later use to enter the Eastern Kingdoms’ wars.
  • Fandral Staghelm secretly planted six branches of the World Tree in Saronite-contaminated lands, and five grew into trees that cleared the mineral.
  • When Andrassil’s roots reached Yogg-Saron’s prison and drove nearby creatures mad, the Cenarion Circle cut it down, but the Old God’s influence spread through the trees into the Emerald Dream and began the Emerald Nightmare.
  • The High Elves established Quel'Thalas, while Thoradin united the human clans into the empire of Arathor as the Forest Trolls continued their attacks.
  • After Anasterian came to power, the Forest Trolls’ assaults intensified with aid from Zandalar, while Snyder continued strengthening his kingdom.
  • The Will of Azeroth warned Snyder that the Old Gods were growing stronger and might escape their prisons in a few thousand years.

Ch. 110The Birth of the Guardian

Prince Tortheldrin investigated the demons drawn to Dalaran’s reckless use of magic, helping lead to the formation of the Council of Tirisfal and later witnessing Alodi become the first Guardian. After centuries of aiding successive Guardians, he continued reporting to Snyder, who received a message from Fandral Staghelm while inspecting the academy of magic with Azshara.

  • After Thoradin abdicated and disappeared, human mages spread their knowledge, and the Arathor Empire continued expanding as city-states gained self-rule.
  • Aldogran became Dalaran’s ruler and formed the Magocracy, whose excessive use of magic attracted demons into Azeroth.
  • Snyder sent Prince Tortheldrin to investigate the demons, and Tortheldrin traced the invasion to Dalaran before meeting the Silvermoon Council and the Sunstrider king.
  • Dalaran and Quel'Thalas formed the Council of Tirisfal to hunt demons and teach mages to use magic responsibly.
  • After the Council’s failed effort to defeat Kathra'natir, Alodi became the first Guardian of Tirisfal by accepting power through a permanent transfer ritual and defeating the demon.
  • Prince Tortheldrin aided successive Guardians for centuries, while Snyder learned of developments in the Eastern Kingdoms; during an inspection of the academy of magic with Azshara, Snyder received a message from Fandral Staghelm.
