Background / History

Chiffon was the successor of a Taoist priest and spent decades cultivating in his previous life. Just before completing Foundation Establishment, an enemy exploited an opening and stabbed him through the heart, killing him. He retained his martial arts, cultivation techniques, and memories after transmigrating into a new body. 1

His new body was orphaned and lived in China. During his first month in this world, Chiffon cultivated and earned Salvation Points by intervening in others' problems; his first documented “save” was defeating three hooligans attempting to extort him. 1

The Salvation System granted him a Quirk Awakening selection. He chose Lightning Attribute as his primary Quirk for its power and potential, then selected Air Manipulation as a secondary Quirk to serve as a concealed trump card. 2 He later applied to study in Japan, seeking the stronger figures and greater dangers surrounding U.A. High School. 3

Chiffon is described as a handsome young man. His public appearance changes depending on whether he is acting as a U.A. student, the concealed Legend of the Night, or openly under his own name. 97 353

Personality

Chiffon is analytical and ambitious. He chooses his Quirks according to their growth potential, combat practicality, and ability to protect the people he values. His central ambition is to become the strongest person in the world and stand at the summit of an era defined by heroes and darkness. 2

He is protective toward friends and responds strongly when they are harmed. After Hirahara Yuudai is mutilated by Takagi Ryu's people, Chiffon accepts responsibility for his associate's suffering and resolves to gain the status needed to protect those close to him. 72 He similarly watches over Inoue Sakura after she is targeted in an arson attack. 46 51

Chiffon's morality becomes increasingly severe as his strength grows. He can show mercy, such as sparing Elephant God King after taking a list of international fugitives, but he also kills enemies and punishes those he considers irredeemable or threatening. 262 277 331 357 Despite being publicly branded a criminal, he insists that he remains himself rather than having joined evil. 353
