Background / History

During her human life, Meiyin became pregnant, but her body could not sustain the fetus's immense energy demands. As she wasted away toward death, Yasha turned her into a demon. Her child, Hanrou, was later born as a half-human, half-demon being. 290

As a demon, Meiyin was known as Lower Moon Two and concealed the rank markings in her eyes beneath a white umbrella; unlike other Twelve Kizuki, she feared rather than prized those markings. 196 Muzan ordered her elimination after learning that Han Zhiqi was her younger brother and a Demon Slayer, and because he considered her influence over Yasha a danger to their alliance. 165

Personality

Meiyin is reserved, composed, and often outwardly indifferent, particularly when dealing with Enmu's provocation. Beneath that restraint, she is deeply protective of Han Zhiqi; threats against him immediately provoke fear and anger. 165 200 203

Despite being a demon, Meiyin consistently avoids unnecessary killing. She saves Swordsmith Village's inhabitants from Enmu's control, protects Hinatsuru and Suma, and refuses to consume defeated Twelve Kizuki for power. 202 204 205 207

She is also polite toward allies, a trait that repeatedly surprises Demon Slayers who expect her to behave like a typical Twelve Kizuki. 217 219

Infinity Castle and Muzan's Suspicion

Meiyin withstands Doma's assault in the Infinity Castle and demonstrates the unusual power surrounding her. Upon hearing Muzan order the capture of Nezuko, she instinctively worries for Han Zhiqi because of his connection to the Demon Slayer Corps. 163

Muzan subsequently arranges for Meiyin's death, intending to frame the Demon Slayer Corps and preserve his alliance with Yasha. Yasha and Qingshu use Han Zhiqi's safety as leverage while accompanying her away from immediate danger. 165

Swordsmith Village

Meiyin arrives at Swordsmith Village alongside Enmu under Muzan's orders. When Enmu attempts to exploit the village, she reveals the existence and mission of Upper Rank Four, warns Tengen Uzui, and chooses to aid the Demon Slayers instead. 197 202 203

After being captured by Tsugikuni Sōji, Meiyin becomes a central objective of Han Zhiqi and Yasha's efforts. 256 She later joins Yasha, Tengen Uzui, and Kyojuro Rengoku against the Eight-Headed Serpent, refusing to withdraw despite her pregnancy. 278 279
