First Recovered Son

Horus was the first Primarch officially recorded as recovered by the Imperium. When Nimrod became the second publicly recovered Primarch at Vostonia, Horus feared losing his exclusive place in the Emperor's favor. The Emperor reassured him that rivalry could be healthy, but discord among brothers would not be tolerated; Horus ultimately accepted Nimrod as a brother 77.

He initially acted as Nimrod's elder brother, receiving him aboard the Vengeful Spirit, introducing him to the Luna Wolves' Council of Four Kings, and explaining the Imperium and its Great Crusade. Appointment as Warmaster

At Ullanor in 000.M31, the Emperor placed a golden laurel crown upon Horus and named him Warmaster, granting him command over all Imperial armies and commanders. The Emperor also gave him an ancient gold ring, calling him his “dread archer” 888.

Horus immediately began consolidating his authority. He chose Nimrod as the first Primarch to meet after his appointment and ordered the Shadow of Order to support the Arkhum-Sothos Cluster pacification, framing the request as an assertion of the Emperor's delegated authority 889. Nimrod deployed only four Chapters rather than the six Horus had demanded, exposing the limits of the Warmaster's control 890.
