Background / History

Tribal Origins

God Yao’s early support focuses on survival: Lu Yao decides to provide wheat seeds so the Garlic Tribe can secure food and grow. The Forest Tribe subsequently moves out of the forest, merges with the Garlic Tribe, and adopts its farming lifestyle 6 9.

The merged community faces attacks from the demon-worshiping Barbarian Tribe. The Pig-Fish Brothers help defend it, while God Yao strengthens its armament. Garlic-for-salt trade with the Salt Pool Tribe also spreads his worship beyond the original settlement 9 10.

Integration brings practical knowledge as well as population. Bedou Tribe survivors introduce livestock husbandry, wool spinning, and weaving. Their leader Shahan contributes astrology, alongside the healing practiced by Shaman Lie Cang 23.

Conflict and Incorporation

After the East River Tribe attacks the Garlic Tribe, God Yao destroys its protective Qi God Totem and intercepts the sacrificial fleet intended to obtain a replacement. The East River leadership seeks peace 20.

Relations later become close enough for technological exchange and intermarriage. East River navigation knowledge is traded for galley technology. Yu Zou subsequently argues for accepting Cave Dwellers by pointing out that the Forest, Barbarian, and East River tribes had all once been enemies but now lived and worked together 41 42.

Growth Beyond the Original Settlement

Muke’s invention of Tribal Chess improves morale and reduces fighting. During this period, Lu Yao’s believer population passes 20,000. Celestial navigation then allows the Garlic Tribe to discover the Eastern Continent 69 70.

The later Yao Tribe develops cities, independent institutions, and its own extraordinary professions. Yanjui’s creation of the Martial Cultivator path marks a decisive shift: humans can now pursue a documented cultivation system rather than rely solely on exceptional individuals or divine intervention 190.

Government and Institutions

Institution / System Function and Development
Early tribal leadership Prophet Nong Lai and Shaman Lie Cang lead the Garlic Tribe but remain working farmers and hunters; leadership is not yet a full-time profession 22.
Temple Society Takes over Yao City’s government and maintains scholarly ties with Salt City and Sanilo 111.
Separated administration and theology Under Qubirool, the Temple Society manages Yao City, researches Magic Potions, and maintains faith. Prophet Long Ji concentrates on dragon-language study rather than city administration 222.
City-State Alliance Council Unites cities under the City-State Responsibility System, common laws, and common institutions. Council buildings increase local morale and the emergence of professional groups 322.
Yao Kingdom Founded with Yao City as its capital at the beginning of the Crystal Structure Era 447.
Theocratic Council System Long Ji becomes the kingdom’s first Chief; Botu becomes its first Prime Minister 451.
Vassal civilization framework Member civilizations receive specialized responsibilities and support while retaining independent development and planning. Strong performance can earn additional resources or comprehensive-civilization status 459.
Winged People Autonomous Association Joseph, Bearded Scholar, and The Unawakened receive support under this name, with the eighth floor of the Abyss opened for their use 874.

The founding of the kingdom also changes the Simulator’s individual information panels. Faith, ideals, traits, relationships, and possessions become more visible, reflecting tighter social connections 459.

Culture and Society

Identity and Inclusion

  • Professional surnames: Early Garlic Tribe names reflect occupations: Nong for farmers, Lie for hunters, Yu for fishermen, Mu for carpenters, Yao for medicine masters, and Yan for salt makers 22.
  • Shared language and script: Yao personnel teach Yao Clan Script and other knowledge abroad. Shell People also study Yao language and writing, and their chief speaks the language fluently 448 468.
  • Skill-based recruitment: Racial rank matters comparatively little; outsiders with useful skills have opportunities to join 1083.
  • Intermarriage: Barriers between ethnic groups are relatively low, and intermarriage increases. Medical progress helps address some inherited health problems 806.
  • Recognition through contribution: Heroes are praised for beneficial inventions and discoveries rather than simply high levels 699.
  • Religious diversity: Although early Salt City authorities arrest White God believers as heretics, later society includes dual worship of God Yao and White God. Lord Yao is also worshiped beside the Dragon Ancestor, and Belicha gains recognition despite teaching atheism 111 459 475 545.

Arts, Recreation, and Public Life

  • Tribal Chess: Muke’s invention becomes an enduring pastime, including among Yao teams stationed in the Resurrection Kingdom 69 448.
  • Theater and literature: The Barley Wine Theater dates to the Beast Arena Era and stages Death of the Demon. Shaja’s Temple Warrior later becomes an Epic with civilization-wide benefits 333 690.
  • Athletics: Cities subsidize Athletes, provide exercise spaces, and encourage public participation in sports 690.
  • Broadcasting: Big Bear’s Star Vision connects member worlds with distant void scenes, prices, and entertainment programs 912 1034.
  • Field reporting: Gazette Office reporters interview communities and investigate events; Bai Ding describes their role as being “the eyes of the Yao Tribe” 468 469.

After the Beast Arena Era, the homeland increasingly favors practical research over new entertainment. Lu Yao views the Sea of Heart-Binding as an important counterweight to the danger of becoming an emotionally impoverished research society 601.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Development Bottleneck and Kingdom Formation

Omnipotence Stone contamination interrupts progress and raises fears of renewed political capture and worsening ethnic and class tensions. Abyss development, Crystal Structure Technology, Qian Yuan Mountain, and the Miniature Empire provide new outlets and resources. The Yao Kingdom’s founding marks the Crystal Structure Era 447.

Multi-World Competition and Specialization

The Resurrection Kingdom’s rapid rise causes anxiety among homeland prophets, heroes, and scholars. They fear losing divine investment and their position as the civilization’s leading community 515.

Lu Yao instead pursues a rotation strategy: different worlds lead in different periods and fields, so applied engineering, basic research, infrastructure, and culture can sustain one another. Sand City and the Resurrection Kingdom become leading regions while the homeland develops foundational theory and major infrastructure 629.

Refugee Relief in the Capricorn Duchy

Yao forces assist displaced Capricorn Herders and search for additional refugees. Resettlement Regiments and Dragon Cavalry provide protection, while military searches target Ground Snakes stealing stored Capricorn Seeds 601.

The operation also brings a Golden Sheep into the civilization’s orbit and turns Luka into a Talos through the Golden Fleece. Lu Yao orders the Wolf God’s soldiers expelled from the duchy 602.

Void and Cross-Boundary Expansion

Long-Distance Voyage Airships enable planting and exploration in other worlds. Later, Silver Plain settlements, Magnetic Ships, Calamity Ground Cogworker operations, and Yao-Dongfu City extend the civilization into environments beyond ordinary world travel 787 890 996 1020 1047.

The Calamity Ground passage exemplifies cooperative construction: Calamity Dragons provide space, the Sea King Tribe supports docking and communications, and Dongfu people undertake difficult underwater work and lay the Black Wall foundation 1052.

War with the Star Orbit

The Yao strategy combines bombardment with warrior deployment, using the latter to organize Servant Pawns deprived of freedom. Rescued populations are brought to the Magnetic Sea, and Aohe’en is appointed administrator of Sky Fortress Six 1079 1083.

The Undead Passage offers a route for deploying and withdrawing warriors while threatening an energy route of the Xuliang Star system. By the later conflict, North Claw is restructuring the Second Star Orbit, and Lu Yao identifies the damaged Observing Rigel Star as a strategic opportunity 1097 1112.
