Xu Yi arrives on Earth as an orphan and becomes the host of the Life Background Editor System. He learns that emotional reactions from others can be converted into Emotion Points, which can then be spent on rewards or edited backgrounds. With no points at first, he relies on provoking, confusing, or impressing people to build his resources. 1

While studying at Yongan University of Science and Technology, Xu Yi works selling instant noodles and becomes involved in disputes surrounding the school cafeteria. His interactions with Education Bureau Director Yu Shu and school administrators cause others to suspect that his humble circumstances conceal an unusual background. 1 9 11
