The Demon Race are intelligent beings rather than Exotic Beasts, though their habits resemble those of wild animals and they can organize collectively under powerful leaders 35.

• Their natural toughness and vitality allow high-level demons to survive injuries that would be fatal to humans. The Four Great Demon Ancestors remained alive after being pierced through by Chen Yi, though their combat ability was badly reduced. 158
• They commonly live in caves, trees, or water. Their stone-built “cities” are primarily used as palaces for sacrifices and other solemn occasions rather than ordinary housing. 120

Cultivation and Bloodlines

All Demon Race members can cultivate and do not possess Root Bone. Their advancement is generally slow, relying on long lifespans and sustained cultivation rather than innate cultivation speed. 72

Leadership and Ranks

History

Thirty thousand years before the main conflict, the Human Race and Demon Race fought a World War so destructive that both sides lost much of their inheritance. The Dragon Person Race later claimed that the Human Emperor had ordered its predecessors to destroy the Demon Race's remaining forces and prevent them from taking leadership after the Human Race's fall. 154 467

The Demon Emperor eventually used five Great Dao Immortal Artifacts to open a passage from the Demon World and send a Demon Race army into the Human World. The Demon Race later established itself in the Great Wilderness, which Azure Dragon regarded as their “second home.” 117 155

The Dragon Person Race devastated the Demon Race and imprisoned its Dao Protector beneath an ancient Demon Race city. The Qilin Soul retained a hatred spanning thirty thousand years and used his last strength to help Chen Yi return to the Human World. 123 125

Human Race Relations

The Human Race and Demon Race were ancestral enemies, but they previously maintained a non-aggression pact. Martial King Realm and higher experts from both sides were barred from killing the other race or launching large-scale invasions; conflicts below that level, including human demon-hunting and demons consuming humans for cultivation, were left to individual survival. 59

Five years before the large-scale war, the Demon Race broke the agreement. A Demon Monkey Great Vanguard led one hundred thousand demons from the Great Wilderness, followed by a million-strong elite force commanded by the Four Great Demon Ancestors and Azure Dragon. 59

Azure Dragon cited the Egg-Swapping Incident as the immediate cause of the war, accusing humans of attempting to sever the Demon Race's descendants. 154

At Cangqiong Ridge, the Demon Race's forces included the Four Demon Ancestors, Ten Great Demon Sages, and Hundred Great Demon Kings. Although individually stronger than human martial artists of equal realm, they were outnumbered by the Five Domains' forces. 148 151

Chen Yi defeated the Four Great Demon Ancestors and returned captured Demon Kings, then disclosed the Dao Protector's sacrifice and the Dragon Person Race threat. This led to a ceasefire and an alliance between the Five Domains and the Great Wilderness Demon Race against the Dragon Person Race. 158 159

Dragon Person Race Relations

The Dragon Person Race is the Demon Race's most deeply hated enemy. It destroyed the Demon Race's homeland, imprisoned its Dao Protector, and was believed to be manipulating conflict between demons and humans. 123 159
