Background / History
Childhood and the Divine Children’s Banquet
Gojo’s birth placed pressure on the other great families: the Kamo Clan treated his Six Eyes as a threat to its standing. An assassination attempt against him was reported before the Three Great Families’ banquet, but the attacker’s identity remained unknown 2 4.
At six, Gojo approached fellow Divine Child Kamo Mitsuki and quickly took an interest in him as a potential rival. He initially suggested throwing their match to profit from bets, then became genuinely excited when Mitsuki insisted he could win without assistance. Mitsuki defeated him, prompting Gojo to reconsider his opponent’s abilities and his own failure to use the Six Eyes fully. Gojo, Mitsuki, and Shoko Ieiri exchanged contact information and remained friends afterward 4 5 7 10.
Jujutsu High
Gojo enrolled at Tokyo Jujutsu High alongside Mitsuki, Shoko, and Suguru Geto under Masamichi Yaga. Their first assignment was to exorcise a Grade 1 cursed spirit in an office building. Several months into training, Gojo sought Shoko’s help learning Reverse Cursed Technique because certain moves he wanted to develop required it, but he could not understand her explanation 10 11 12.
His rivalry with Mitsuki continued through a hand-to-hand free-for-all in which Gojo and Geto began teaming up against him. Shoko judged Mitsuki the winner, and Yaga confronted the students over the destruction of the gym. At the Goodwill Event, Gojo rapidly defeated the opposing Kyoto students 13 17.
During the rescue of Utahime Iori and Mei Mei, Gojo destroyed the haunted estate with Blue, freeing both sorcerers. The team defeated the emerging cursed spirit but neglected to erect a veil, earning a reprimand from Yaga 18 19.
Star Plasma Vessel Mission
Assigned to escort Riko Amanai to Tengen, Gojo objected to sacrificing her for the merger. Mitsuki proposed creating a substitute vessel, while Gojo helped protect Riko and defeated Q’s attacking curse users without injury. He celebrated that victory by sending a selfie to the group chat 20 21.
After rescuing Misato Kuroi and spending a day in Okinawa with Riko, the group returned to the Tombs of the Star Corridor. Toji Fushiguro ambushed Gojo after deliberately wearing down his vigilance with a bounty on Riko. Gojo sent Geto ahead with her and remained to fight, but Toji bypassed Limitless with the Inverted Spear of Heaven and left him apparently dying 22 23.
Gojo survived and returned with newly awakened strength. His breakthrough in Reverse Cursed Technique subsequently enabled automated Limitless and a major increase in combat power 27 29 59 115.
Reform Efforts and Kenjaku
After establishing Special Grade strength, Gojo worked with Mitsuki and Geto against Kenjaku. The trio planned an ambush using a fake Prison Realm, exploiting Kenjaku’s intention to obtain the real sealing object. During the ensuing conflict, Gojo used Red to slow a falling meteorite 30 46 47 49.
Their broader plans included replacing corrupt jujutsu higher-ups and weakening Kenjaku’s intelligence network. Gojo accepted responsibility for handling the Gojo Clan but identified the Zenin Clan as a remaining obstacle. He also searched for promising young sorcerers during missions, considering Grade 1 potential his minimum standard 45 51.
Duel with Mitsuki and Renewed Resolve
Mitsuki’s bloodline resonance ritual intensified Gojo’s dissatisfaction with his own progress. His clan elders wanted comparable benefits for their family, while Gojo himself felt trapped at a bottleneck. He asked Geto to arrange an all-out match with Mitsuki so he could test whether he was still advancing in the right direction 57 58 59.
Their duel took place inside Silent Stone Island’s barrier, on terrain transformed into Mount Fuji. Mitsuki breached Limitless, forced Gojo into extensive healing, and ultimately defeated him through his domain’s control over body and mind. The apparent repeated destruction of Unlimited Void was an illusion: Gojo had actually dispelled his own domains under Mitsuki’s influence 67 68 69 70 72 73 74.
The defeat renewed rather than crushed Gojo’s ambition. He resolved to make Six Eyes and Limitless exceptional through his own development, rather than rely on their inherited superiority. Mitsuki later erased selected technique secrets from everyone’s memories, leaving them with the belief that he had won the domain clash by an extremely narrow margin 75.
Gojo then approached Yuta Okkotsu and obtained his parents’ permission to train him. Discovering that Yuta’s childhood sweetheart Rika Orimoto also possessed sorcerer potential, he took both children under his guidance 90.
Appearance
Gojo has white to silver-white hair, pale skin, and striking Six Eyes described as resembling stars 4 19 57.
- Six Eyes: His most conspicuous inherited feature, drawing attention even during childhood 4.
- Glasses: Removes them before confronting Toji at full strength 22.
- Blindfold: Wears one in later appearances and removes it before his duel with Mitsuki 57 68.
Personality
Gojo is sociable, irreverent, and provocative. As a child, he preferred playing with a peer to spending time with clan elders; as a student, he routinely teased his classmates and treated battles with conspicuous confidence 4 5 10 21.
He is openly hostile toward conservative authority. He proposes killing the hidebound elders who control Jujutsu Society and dismisses Geto’s early insistence that sorcerers exist to protect non-sorcerers as a principle used to restrain the strong. Nevertheless, he objects to Riko’s sacrifice, helps exorcise curses afflicting earthquake survivors, and rescues people during the catfish cursed spirit incident 16 19 20 58 61.
His pride makes stagnation particularly painful. Mitsuki’s continued growth leaves him feeling empty and lonely, but his eventual defeat produces a rapid recovery of determination. He shifts from measuring himself against others to seeking self-improvement, while retaining the ambition to become the strongest sorcerer in history 59 75.
Abilities & Skills
Six Eyes
An inherited physical constitution that enables exceptionally detailed perception and precise cursed energy control 5 66 76.
- Reduces cursed energy consumption, making attrition an unfavorable strategy against him 5.
- Reads cursed energy and techniques; identifies the cursed spirit powering Mitsuki’s humanoid puppet 62 66.
- Predicts the Blood God’s attacks accurately, though its speed still makes evasion difficult 70.
- Cannot reliably predict Toji through cursed energy flow because Toji possesses none 23.
- Fails to read Mitsuki’s internal cursed energy flow or detect his domain’s influence on the soul 68 69 74.
Limitless
Gojo’s innate technique combines an approach-denying defense with powerful spatial applications 66.
- Slows approaching objects progressively, preventing ordinary attacks from reaching him 6 66.
- Gains an automated mode after his Reverse Cursed Technique breakthrough 29.
- Enables flight and long-distance teleportation 57 68 76.
- Can be countered by Domain Amplification or technique-nullifying tools such as the Inverted Spear of Heaven 12 23 69.
- Mitsuki’s blood also penetrates it after acquiring the spear’s nullification property 69 75.
Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue
Produces a powerful attractive force, usable for attacks, environmental destruction, and movement 5 18 72.
- Draws paving stones into a large sphere during his childhood duel 5.
- Lifts and destroys the haunted estate to free Utahime and Mei Mei 18.
- At maximum output, clears surrounding buildings during the fight with Toji 23.
- Accelerates Gojo and helps isolate the real Mitsuki from his clones 72.
Cursed Technique Reversal
Gojo demonstrates repulsive attacks under the names Red and “Cursed Technique Reversal: Hollow Purple” in the supplied passages 49 71.
- Red: Releases enough repulsive force to slow a falling meteorite 49.
- Reversal “Hollow Purple”: Forms a crimson sword of light that cuts the Blood God into eight pieces and destroys its pursuing arrows 71.
- Uses the reversal attack at point-blank range to test which Mitsuki is real; the blood robe blocks almost all its damage 72.
Hollow Technique: Purple
A destructive projectile demonstrated during Gojo’s Special Grade assessment and his later duel. Yuki describes it as generating imaginary mass capable of cutting through space and exorcising special grade cursed spirits 30 68.
- Blasts an enormous opening through the clouds during his assessment 30.
- Completely erases the catfish cursed spirit 61.
- Pulverizes volcanic rock during the Silent Stone Island duel 68.
- The duel narration distinguishes this Purple from the less destructive reversal attack used against Mitsuki’s blood robe 72.
Reverse Cursed Technique
Gojo learns self-healing after his near-fatal encounter with Toji 29 115.
- Repairs grievous injuries inflicted when Mitsuki breaches Limitless 69.
- Regrows his left arm after severing it to remove Mitsuki’s contaminating blood 70.
- Develops a brain-damage-and-repair method to address cursed technique burnout during the apparent domain clash 73.
- Ordinary healing alone cannot purge the foreign blood Mitsuki leaves inside him 70.
Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void
Draws an opponent into the interior of Limitless and overloads their brain with endless cycles of perception and transmission 72.
- Its guaranteed hit leaves the target motionless and unable to function normally 72.
- Requires substantial cursed energy, advanced technique mastery, and barrier proficiency 72.
- Can have its barrier parameters adjusted when recast; Gojo experiences expanding its range from fifty to one hundred and fifty meters 73.
- Does not secure victory against Mitsuki, whose domain takes control before Gojo recognizes its effect 74.
Close-Quarters Combat
Gojo is a formidable hand-to-hand fighter even without relying on his strongest techniques 5 17.
- Exchanges rapid blows with Mitsuki at six 5.
- Quickly knocks down Kyoto’s opposing groups during the Goodwill Event 17.
- Is eventually surpassed by Mitsuki’s enhanced close-combat ability and struggles against five simultaneous Mitsukis 71.

“Right now, I feel... terrifyingly strong. I need to find an opponent and really let this power loose.” 27
Trivia

- Mitsuki obtains Gojo’s blood and practical experience with Six Eyes and Limitless while Gojo is under his domain’s influence. Gojo’s soul explicitly agrees, but Mitsuki subsequently erases the memory 76.
- When two masked visitors demand Sukuna’s Finger without introducing themselves, Gojo blasts them fifty kilometers away without seriously injuring them 104.
