Background

Naruto was born during the Nine-Tails' attack on Konoha. His parents, Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, sacrificed themselves to seal Kurama inside him through the Eight Trigrams Sealing Style; their chakra and consciousness remained within the sealing space. 1

Hiruzen Sarutobi concealed Naruto's parentage, while Danzō had Root spread the claim that he was the Nine-Tails' incarnation. Naruto was abused at the hospital and orphanage, ostracized by villagers, and repeatedly told that he had to earn Konoha's recognition. At age three, he chose to live alone in a dilapidated house supported by a small monthly allowance. 1 2

His life changed after he merged with Demon Owl's remnant soul. The fusion gave him knowledge of cultivation, martial arts, soul techniques, and the truth of his parentage, replacing much of his former innocence with caution, resolve, and a willingness to retaliate against those who exploited him. 3
