Objectives and Methods

Organization

Akatsuki operates from an underground base in the Rain Village, where figures communicate through a genjutsu projection surrounded by ten elevated seats. 26 At the time Xingye began his campaign, it was described as an organization of ten S-rank missing-nin, many with Kage-level strength. 26

History

Exposure of the Eye of the Moon Plan

Xingye discovers Black Zetsu and Obito discussing the Eye of the Moon Plan in the Forest of Death. Black Zetsu identifies the Uchiha clan as an obstacle and presses for the plan’s acceleration, while Obito reveals the planned date of the Uchiha massacre. 7

Following Danzo’s defeat, Xingye publicly commits to dismantling Akatsuki before it can collect the Tailed Beasts and launch the Infinite Tsukuyomi. 24 25 Akatsuki, in turn, recognizes Xingye’s Otsutsuki bloodline, Mangekyo Sharingan, and Talent Entry System as dangers to Kaguya’s resurrection. 26

Infiltration Campaign

With Hiruzen Sarutobi’s support, Konoha formally becomes an enemy of Akatsuki. Xingye’s strategy is to identify each member’s weaknesses, recruit those who can be turned, and use them to feed false reports and intelligence back into the organization. 26 27 31

Counterattack and Collapse

In response to the Five Kage alliance, Akatsuki attempts scattered attacks on several villages. Hidan and Kakuzu assault the Ninja Academy to seize Sasuke, while Obito, Konan, and a Black Zetsu clone confront Xingye at Konoha’s gates. 30

Xingye repels the assault, seals Obito with Chibaku Tensei, and shifts fully onto the offensive. 30 After Nagato reveals Obito’s location, Xingye confronts him again and uses the Truth-Seeking Ball and Kotoamatsukami to make him abandon the Eye of the Moon Plan. The Akatsuki Disintegration Plan reaches 100% completion. 40
