Background / History
Whis accompanies the God of Destruction Beerus to Planet Vegeta, silently observing Beerus's intent to punish King Vegeta and regarding the Saiyans' predicament as self-inflicted. As an Angel, he does not intervene in Beerus's decisions to dispose of matters within Universe 7. 1
He provides Beerus with information on Universe 7's state, including the Saiyans' standing as its second-highest combat force and the destruction of four Supreme Kais by Majin Buu. His staff projects the relevant events for Beerus to see. 2
When Mu Yang comprehends Destruction energy after seeing Beerus use it once, Whis is visibly surprised and wishes to preserve the boy's extraordinary talent. Beerus subsequently names Mu Yang a Candidate Destroyer and entrusts his training to Whis for the next thirty million years. 3
At the Destroyer God Realm, Whis changes Mu Yang into Candidate Destroyer attire and makes it weigh one hundred times more than normal. He also places Mu Yang in a room close to Beerus's, warning that Beerus could accidentally kill him during sleepwalking. 4
Whis tests Mu Yang by allowing Destruction Ki Blasts to pursue him, then reveals that surviving the ordeal demonstrated his qualifications as a Candidate Destroyer. After Mu Yang gives him a storage ring, Whis promises to train him with all his strength. 5 12
Appearance
Whis is a blue-skinned, white-haired man who carries a staff or scepter. He is consistently composed, often wearing a faint smile even in dangerous situations. 1 11
- Blue skin and white hair. 11
- Carries a staff capable of projection, transport, barriers, and other divine functions. 2 7 11
- Travels surrounded by seven-colored light. 3 7
- Maintains an immaculate, carefully groomed appearance before visiting his sister Vados. 22
Personality
Whis is calm, polite, and observant. Even when Beerus becomes enraged or Mu Yang displays unprecedented abilities, he generally maintains an outwardly serene manner. 2 8 10
He is deeply invested in Mu Yang's development. Whis recognizes Mu Yang's potential almost immediately, tests him without openly explaining the purpose, and repeatedly considers what the boy's talent could mean for the future of the divine realm. 3 5 6
His mentorship is often teasing or indirect. He exaggerates the abundance of comparable divine talents to stop Mu Yang from becoming complacent, only to privately worry that Mu Yang's relentless drive may reshape the Divine Realm. 10
Abilities & Skills

Training and Evaluation
As an Angel, Whis considers training Destroyer Gods his duty. He evaluates Mu Yang through practical trials rather than conventional instruction. 5
