Background / History

Zhu Jiuyin was originally like the other Ancestral Witches: fierce, impulsive, crude, and overbearing. After digesting hundreds of thousands of books retained in his memory, he became calm, indifferent, and composed. His changed temperament and command of the Law of Time gave him an unfathomable presence, causing even his blood siblings to suspect that he had been replaced or possessed. 1 2

Having perceived the Witch Race's future danger, Zhu Jiuyin repeatedly urged the race to abandon its contest for hegemony with the Demon Race and remain concealed. The other eleven Ancestral Witches initially rejected him, but his accurate predictions—Hongjun's sermons, the seizure of holy positions by Jie Yin and Zhun Ti, the Demon Race's recruitment of Nuwa and Fuxi, and Hongjun's acceptance of disciples—gradually won their trust. 2

Once the Witch Race accepted his judgment, Zhu Jiuyin demanded final authority over major decisions rather than the title of leader. Dijiang retained responsibility for administration and daily execution, while Zhu Jiuyin became the race's supreme decision-maker. 3 16 18

Personality

Zhu Jiuyin is cautious, calculating, and highly pragmatic. He avoids exposing sensitive knowledge when secrecy is necessary, bases persuasion on fulfilled predictions rather than rhetoric, and treats reputation as a tool rather than a restraint. 2 65

Though initially known for urging the Witch Race to lie low, he becomes increasingly assertive when confronting external threats. He is willing to negotiate from strength, threaten severe consequences, and make major strategic sacrifices for the long-term security of his people. 50 65 89 90

He also displays fairness and accountability. He shares authority in the Heavenly Court, distributes Origin Hearts among major factions, apologizes when the Witch Race wrongs the Human Race, and severely punishes Underworld officials who interfere in human affairs. 184 202 217 219 220
