Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Low-grade Chaos Merit Dao Bodies; Hunyuan Second Heaven 199 Each received 2% of the Great Dao Merit from the Chaos Spirit-Transforming Inversion Array. Combined with Pangu's previously deposited merit, this elevated their foundations to low-grade Chaos Merit Dao Bodies and raised all three to the Second Heaven of Hunyuan.
Laozi — peak Second Heaven of Sage 216 Laozi, the strongest of the three, broke through after the Outer Realm campaign and the array's renewed deployment.
Laozi — early Fourth Heaven of the Origin 217 229 Laozi remained the strongest Three Pure One, though Houtu and Nuwa had surpassed the group as a whole.

Background

The Three Pure Ones were born from Pangu's Primordial Spirit, making them part of the Orthodox Pangu Lineage alongside the Ancestral Witches, who were born from Pangu's essence blood. Their shared origin initially made the two groups regard one another as close kin. During the first Purple Cloud Palace sermon, the Ancestral Witches defended the Three Pure Ones' seats against pressure led by Di Jun and Tai Yi. 9 10

Pangu left the Three Pure Ones the 24th-Grade Creation Green Lotus, a Chaos Spiritual Treasure intended to be activated through their unity. Unable to awaken it together, Laozi and Yuanshi persuaded Tongtian to divide it into three Top-Grade Innate Spiritual Treasures. The decision destroyed their greatest inherited treasure and became a lasting source of regret and blame. 15 25 27

Although Yuanshi and Tongtian considered the Ancestral Witches closer than the Demon Race, Laozi insisted that the Three Pure Ones attend the Demon Court's Dao Discussion Assembly. Their eventual choice to support the Demon Race was seen by the Ancestral Witches as betrayal, turning their former kinship into hostility. 9 10

Internal Division

The loss of the Creation Green Lotus exposed the brothers' lack of trust. Yuanshi blamed the Ancestral Witches, Tongtian objected because he had opposed dismantling the lotus, and Laozi nominally mediated while tending to support Yuanshi. 26

Tongtian concluded that Laozi and Yuanshi had never truly regarded him as an equal brother. He left Kunlun Mountain, followed by Laozi, leaving Yuanshi behind; the Three Pure Ones' united luck consequently split into three. 27 33

Hongjun later forced them to reunite because he needed their combined strength to counterbalance the Ancestral Witches. The reunion did not resolve their grievances: Laozi and Yuanshi blamed Tongtian for the split, while Tongtian rejected the one-sided sacrifices expected of him. 58 59

Their separation became final after conflict between Yuanshi's Chan Sect and Tongtian's Jie Sect. Hongjun did not intervene this time. 134

Personality

Laozi, Yuanshi, and Tongtian possess sharply incompatible temperaments, which repeatedly undermine their unity. Laozi is characterized as inactive yet calculating, Yuanshi as arrogant and paranoid, and Tongtian as straightforward and rebellious. 196

Yuanshi is fiercely protective of those he recognizes as his own but openly despises the Demon Race. He is deeply unwilling to admit fault, including in the destruction of the Creation Green Lotus. 9 26 33

Tongtian most closely sympathized with the Ancestral Witches' directness and kinship. However, he initially remained loyal to his elder brothers despite recognizing that he consistently received the worse end of their arrangements. 34 59

Laozi usually acts as mediator, but his neutrality often favors Yuanshi. He is nevertheless capable of adapting when persuaded, as shown when he accepted Zhu Jiuyin's guidance and founded the Origin Sect rather than the Human Sect he had initially envisioned. 26 130

Abilities & Skills

Three Pure Ones Creation Profound Origin Formation

Their inherited formation can manifest Pangu's Primordial Spirit, paralleling the Ancestral Witches' Twelve Capital Divine Gods and Demons Formation.

  • It requires the Three Pure Ones to act in concert. 27
  • Laozi and Yuanshi feared that manifesting Pangu's Primordial Spirit could allow Pangu's will to return and possess them. 27
  • The formation remained unused because of these fears and the brothers' inability to fully trust one another. 27

Array Formation — Tongtian

Tongtian is the Three Pure Ones' foremost formation expert.

  • Developed 36,000 key points in the Chaos Spirit-Transforming Inversion Array. 197
  • Contributed his magic power, laws, and understanding of the Dao of Arrays to stabilize and complete the formation. 197

Artifact Refinement — Yuanshi

Yuanshi is the group's greatest artifact refiner.

  • Positioned 36,000 Innate Spiritual Treasures and other materials into the array's key points. 197
  • His craftsmanship was essential to the construction of the Chaos Spirit-Transforming Inversion Array, though most of its spiritual treasures were refined by Zhu Jiuyin and Nuwa's Qiankun Cauldron was indispensable. 197

Alchemy — Laozi

Laozi is the pinnacle of the Primordial World's Alchemy Dao.

  • Can refine pills using Heaven and Earth as a furnace rather than relying on a physical alchemy furnace. 197
  • Produced tens of thousands of Recovery Pills in less than three breaths during the array project. 197
  • A single pill restored a peak Quasi-Sage's magic power by ten percent, or fully restored an ordinary Quasi-Sage. 197

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • 24th-Grade Creation Green Lotus — Their original Chaos Spiritual Treasure, modeled after the 36th-Grade Chaos Green Lotus and refined by Pangu. It required the brothers' unified efforts to reveal its power. 15 27
  • Coiling Dragon Staff — Formed from the Green Lotus's flower after its division. 15
  • Three Treasures Jade Ruyi — Formed from the Green Lotus's lotus root. 15
  • Qingping Sword — Formed from the Green Lotus's leaves. 15
  • Three supreme treasures — Bestowed upon them by Hongjun before his third sermon. 30

Relationships

  • Pangu — Their progenitor; they were formed from his Primordial Spirit and inherited both the Creation Green Lotus and the Three Pure Ones Creation Profound Origin Formation from him. 9 15 27
  • Hongjun — Their teacher and direct master. He condemned their lack of unity, forcibly reunited them after their first split, and relied on them as a counterweight to the Ancestral Witches. 58 59
  • Ancestral Witches — Fellow Orthodox Pangu Lineage members once regarded as brothers of different kin. Their aid at Purple Cloud Palace was later repaid by the Three Pure Ones siding with the Demon Race, creating a bitter feud. 10
  • Di Jun and Tai Yi — Demon Race leaders whom Yuanshi and Tongtian disliked; nevertheless, the Three Pure Ones ultimately aligned with the Demon Race against the Witches. 9 10
  • Zhu Jiuyin — A rival whose rise repeatedly undermined their status, but later an ally in the Chaos Spirit-Transforming Inversion Array project. 111 195 197
  • Laozi, Yuanshi, and Tongtian — Brothers by origin whose conflicting personalities, mistrust, and competition repeatedly drove them apart. 26 33 134

Story Role / Major Arcs

Demon Court Assembly and Witch–Demon Conflict

The Three Pure Ones attended the Demon Court's Dao Discussion Assembly primarily out of reverence for Hongjun rather than loyalty to the Demon Race. Their support nevertheless strengthened the Demon side and devastated the Ancestral Witches' trust in them. 9 10

Loss of the Creation Green Lotus

Pangu Hall's revelation forced the Three Pure Ones to recognize that they had dismantled a Chaos Spiritual Treasure that may have surpassed Pangu Hall itself. Their public embarrassment earned them the reputation of the Primordial World's “prodigal sons.” 25

First Separation and Forced Reunion

Tongtian left after concluding that Laozi and Yuanshi had never treated him sincerely. Hongjun later ordered all three back to Kunlun Mountain because their separation damaged his plans for balancing the Ancestral Witches. 33 59

Final Separation

Yuanshi and Tongtian's sectarian conflict led to their definitive separation. The event shook the Primordial World, but Hongjun declined to intervene again. 134

Heavenly Court and Star Domain Project

The Three Pure Ones later served among the Heavenly Court's leading rulers and joined Zhu Jiuyin's Star Domain project. Eight hundred Yuanhui of cooperation gave them a measure of renewed tacit understanding: Tongtian led array construction, Yuanshi handled artifact refinement, and Laozi supplied recovery pills. 183 195 197

Great Dao Merit

Their contribution to the Chaos Spirit-Transforming Inversion Array earned them Great Dao Merit, transformed their foundations into low-grade Chaos Merit Dao Bodies, and raised all three to the Second Heaven of Hunyuan. 199
