The Three Pure Ones Finally Arrive, Great Gods Gather-Not for the Demon Race, but Out of Respect for the Dao Ancestor
"But do we really have to fight the Ancestral Witches, all for the sake of Di Jun and Tai Yi?"
Tongtian was the one who spoke.
Clearly, even now, Tongtian still felt far closer to the Ancestral Witches than to Di Jun and Tai Yi.
Yuanshi furrowed his brow, then eventually nodded as well. "I agree with Third Brother. Though the Ancestral Witches don't understand the mandate of Heaven, they're still much better than those demon creatures, born from the damp and hatched from eggs, covered in fur and crowned with horns."
There was no helping it. Yuanshi had always despised the Demon Race, calling them creatures born from the damp and hatched from eggs, covered in fur and crowned with horns. As for the Ancestral Witches and the Witch Race, others might not understand their circumstances, but how could Yuanshi, one of the Orthodox Pangu Lineage, be ignorant of them?
And like Tongtian, Yuanshi also felt that the Ancestral Witches were somewhat closer to them.
After all, one came from the Primordial Spirit and the other from the blood essence. Both were Pangu's closest bloodline!
Across the vast Primordial World, who didn't know that Yuanshi was the most fiercely protective of his own?
Laozi gave no judgment on what Yuanshi and Tongtian had said. He merely remarked meaningfully, "No matter what, we still have to go!"
"After all, if the Ancestral Witches really defeat the Demon Race and dominate the Primordial World, then most of its fortune will surely gather around the Ancestral Witches and the Witch Race. And if, by some chance..."
At that, a trace of fear appeared in Yuanshi and Tongtian's eyes.
"Exactly. The key is Father God!"
For the Three Pure Ones, the best Pangu was one who would never return to the Primordial World!
The situation was urgent, so the Demon Race's Dao Discussion Assembly had been arranged in haste, leaving the invited great powers only a hundred days to prepare.
A hundred days wasn't long even in modern society, much less in the boundless Primordial World.
Even so, Di Jun and Tai Yi thought it was too much of a delay.
As Tai Yi had said, "What if the Witch Race uses this chance to launch a surprise attack on us?"
But this was the Primordial World. If they didn't even give people a hundred days to prepare, that would be not only disgraceful but also make the Demon Race look utterly helpless before the Witch Race.
Whether reinforcements could arrive depended on whether the side being aided could withstand the enemy's first few waves of attacks.
If they could hold out, the reinforcements could make it.
If it was clear they couldn't endure, and would be swept aside with ease, then the reinforcements were never going to arrive.
Reinforcements were, in the end, only help. What mattered most was whether you could hold your own.
Seeing that there was no other way, Fuxi finally stepped forward.
At the cost of losing ten thousand years of cultivation, he pushed himself to divine the secrets of Heaven. In the end, he concluded that the Ancestral Witches would not launch a major attack on the Demon Race within a year.
Anyone who knew anything knew how accomplished Fuxi was at divination.
Especially given that he had reached this conclusion at the cost of ten thousand years of cultivation.
As it turned out, over the next hundred days, the Witch Race continued gathering in great numbers at their ancestral lands beneath Mount Buzhou, but the Ancestral Witches never once chose to launch a surprise attack on the Demon Race.
Instead, the entire Ancestral Land of the Witch Race seemed like a black hole. Any member of the Witch Race who entered never came back out.
This phenomenon caught the attention of the Demon Race, who had been closely watching the Witch Race's movements, and left them puzzled. Even Hongjun, far away in the Purple Heaven Palace, couldn't help frowning. "What exactly are the Ancestral Witches and the Witch Race doing? I really don't like this feeling that something has slipped beyond my control."
There was no helping it. The Ancestral Land of the Witch Race lay within the range of Pangu Hall's power. Not even Hongjun, let alone the Heavenly Dao, could perceive anything inside.
And this was clearly the greatest trump card Pangu had left to the Ancestral Witches and the Witch Race.
In fact, even by the Age of Dharma Decline in the myths of the Primordial World, neither the great powers of the myriad heavens, the Six Sages of the Heavenly Dao, nor even the Heavenly Dao and Hongjun, perhaps, knew much about what went on inside Pangu Hall.
It could be said that this place was completely beyond the Heavenly Dao's reach and control.
Now, with Mount Buzhou's support, the land within tens of thousands of gai of Pangu Hall—one gai being ten thousand trillion trillion—was beyond the reach and control of both the Heavenly Dao and Hongjun.
And so, amid the confusion and uncertainty of countless living beings, the hundred days finally passed.
On that day, the entire Demon Court was abuzz.
Beautiful palace attendants, imposing guards, soaring phoenixes, rising dragons, galloping Qilin auspicious beasts, and exotic flowers and plants spread everywhere—all made the Demon Court look so rich and magnificent that even Yuanshi couldn't help sighing, "What a grand display."
The moment the Three Pure Ones' ceremonial carriage arrived, Di Jun, Tai Yi, Fuxi, Nuwa, and Kunpeng—the five top leaders of the Demon Court—all rose and personally came out to welcome them.
In terms of status, the Three Pure Ones were Hongjun's personal disciples. Even Nuwa had to address them as senior brothers.
In terms of strength, the Ancestral Witches were formed from Pangu's blood essence, while the Three Pure Ones were formed from Pangu's Primordial Spirit. The Ancestral Witches had already proved their worth as members of the Orthodox Pangu Lineage through their strength, so how could the Three Pure Ones, whose origins were hardly inferior and perhaps even superior, be weak?
The Demon Race's top leaders even suspected that if the Three Pure Ones joined forces, the five of them could do no more than fight them to a draw.
And then there was the Twelve Capital Divine Gods and Demons Formation, through which the Ancestral Witches could summon the True Form of Pangu. What about the Three Pure Ones?
Could they also have a trump card like the Ancestral Witches?
The more they thought about it, the more alarming it became!
That was precisely why the Demon Race's leaders all came out to welcome the Three Pure Ones as soon as they sensed their arrival.
Besides the Three Pure Ones, other great powers also arrived in droves: Zhenyuanzi of Wuzhuang Temple, Hong Yun of Fire Cloud Cave, Eastern Duke of Penglai Island, Queen Mother of the West of West Kunlun, and others. Even Ancestor Minghe, who hardly ever left the Blood Sea, was among them.
Of course, at such a grand gathering, the Two Sages of the West were bound to attend.
But unlike the other great powers, the Two Sages of the West arrived late and brought along every second-generation disciple of the Western Sect, whether personal disciples or outer sect members.
They were plainly there to mooch off the event.
The sight made Di Jun and Tai Yi's brows twitch.
"Jieyin and Zhunti really have no shame!" Tai Yi gritted out.
"Don't get angry. A little patience is needed to accomplish great things. The most important thing now is still the Witch Race!"
In the end, of the Three Thousand Guests of the Purple Cloud Palace, nearly ninety percent had arrived, excluding those in seclusion.
Many unknown great powers who weren't among the Three Thousand Guests of the Purple Cloud Palace had come as well.
"Success is at hand! Success is at hand!"
When Di Jun and Tai Yi saw that even the easygoing Hong Yun, the fearsome-looking Ancestor Minghe, and the vicious, treacherous Ancestor Pan Wang had come, they knew that this was as good as settled.
They simply didn't know—or perhaps they did know but deliberately pretended otherwise—that most of the great powers had not come for Di Jun and Tai Yi at all. They were there, for the most part, to win Hongjun's favor.
As long as one lived long enough, even a pig could transform into a divine pig. And those who could become great powers in the Primordial World were all brilliant and extraordinarily wise.
They had long since seen that Hongjun was clearly targeting, even suppressing, the Witch Race. And between the Witch Race and Hongjun, which side to choose was obvious!
