Background / History

Li Yuntian is Yang Wanqing’s husband, Li Yingxue’s father, and Zhang Qingxuan’s foster father. He and Yang Wanqing were once fugitives and were aided by the Lin family; while drunk, he promised a future marriage arrangement between their families as repayment. 22

Their flight began after the Break Clan’s patriarch opposed their relationship and attempted to separate them by force. Li Yuntian eloped with Yang Wanqing, provoking a pursuit in which he was severely injured. Yang Wanqing fought through the encirclement with him, and the exhausted couple were saved by a farming couple surnamed Lin, who sheltered them while they recovered. 22

He raised Zhang Qingxuan while carefully concealing the foster son’s extraordinary cultivation and private soul-ring acquisitions. The Li Family’s rapid commercial expansion was closely tied to Zhang Qingxuan’s strategies, while Li Yuntian provided the power and protection that secured the family’s position. He also helped keep Zhang Qingxuan’s public information unusually sparse, preventing outside forces from discovering the young man’s true abilities and importance. 2 12 28

After Zhang Qingxuan brought Xiao Bai to the Li residence, Li Yuntian immediately recognized that she was a transformed soul beast. Rather than expose or harm her, he gave her a few words of caution and allowed her to integrate into the family. 2

The Break Clan continued to pursue Yang Wanqing after her departure from the clan. Li Yuntian rejected its claim over her, declaring that she had become the Li Family’s mistress and that her bloodline was neither a fault nor a burden. 5 11

As external pressure against the Li Family escalated, he supported Zhang Qingxuan’s decision to align with Spirit Hall. He personally offered the family’s Method of Absorbing Over-Limit Spirit Rings, whose core material was processed Whale Glue, as proof of allegiance. 12 13

Li Yuntian had an estranged biological younger sister, Li Yunruo. His hostility toward their wider bloodline stems from the clan’s abandonment of him and Yang Wanqing during their hardship, as well as its assistance to the Break Clan in pursuing them. 37 222

His parents died early. During childhood, he and Li Yunruo were neglected within the clan, and he repeatedly protected his younger sister. These memories later helped soften his reaction when she sought refuge with him. 38 222

The old marriage arrangement with the Lin family was effectively set aside after Lin Meng’er arrived at the Li residence and was adopted by Li Yuntian and Yang Wanqing as their goddaughter. Personality

Li Yuntian is deeply protective of his family. He is willing to confront powerful opponents over threats to Yang Wanqing or Zhang Qingxuan, but he can restrain his anger when Zhang Qingxuan intervenes. 5 11

He is pragmatic and politically aware, recognizing when hostile factions rely on indirect pressure because they cannot openly attack the Li Family. He also holds lasting resentment toward blood relatives who abandoned him in hardship and later returned seeking his support. 11 37

With Yang Wanqing, he is affectionate and playful, though he remains focused on cultivation and on making up for the years when business kept him away from his family. He considers continued cultivation and remaining at her side his primary priorities after the Li Family gained Spirit Hall’s protection. 22 37

Li Yuntian is willing to place the interests of his household above personal pride. He offered the Li Family’s over-limit spirit-ring method to Spirit Hall to secure protection for his family, despite the embarrassing nature of Whale Glue’s role in the process. 11 13

Despite his imposing status, Li Yuntian is notably indulgent toward Li Yingxue. She can easily manipulate him into giving her money or access to his hidden wine, leaving him a loving but helpless father. 244

Conflict with the Clear Sky Sect

Li Yuntian entered the Star Dou Great Forest with Yang Wanqing and Zhang Qingxuan while Yang Wanqing sought an approximately 80,000-year soul ring. Years of using Whale Glue had strengthened his foundation enough to support his own exceptionally old ninth soul ring. 4

He subdued an approximately 80,000-year-old Storm Hunting Eagle compatible with Yang Wanqing’s Wind Spirit Swallow, bringing it down with broken wings and severe sword burns so that she could kill it and absorb its ring. He also stored the External Soul Bone obtained from the hunt. 4

When Tang Zhen used the Break Clan to threaten Yang Wanqing and demanded submission, Li Yuntian answered with his Green Fire Sword and nine-ring Titled Douluo cultivation. 5

He then fought Tang Zhen above the forest. Although initially pressured by the Clear Sky Hammer, he honed his swordsmanship during the battle and forced Tang Zhen to retreat. Zhang Qingxuan judged that the two of them could potentially kill Tang Zhen, but Yang Wanqing rejected the plan to avoid bringing the Clear Sky Sect’s retaliation upon the Li Family. 6

Alliance with Spirit Hall

Facing growing pressure over the Li Family’s wealth and techniques, Li Yuntian supported its defection to Spirit Hall. He offered the Method of Absorbing Over-Limit Spirit Rings to Qian Xunji, cementing the family’s new alliance. In exchange, Spirit Hall promised protection for the family’s businesses and granted Li Yuntian the status of Protector of the Pope Palace. 11 13

Before the agreement, he reviewed losses that included seven smashed shops, three burned warehouses, and eleven injured or dead guards. He correctly understood the attacks as indirect coercion intended to weaken the family without provoking an open confrontation among the continent’s major powers. 10 11

Qian Xunji initially requested forty percent of the family’s business, but Zhang Qingxuan offered sixty percent of its future income. Li Yuntian accepted his son’s reasoning and followed his recommendation to disclose the processed Whale Glue method as an additional gesture of goodwill. 11 12 13

Cultivation under the Nine Yang Divine Skill

After Zhang Qingxuan returned from the Far North, Li Yuntian received the Nine Yang Divine Skill alongside the cultivation arts granted to the rest of the household. He understood that the art could invite severe greed if leaked and accepted responsibility for preserving its secrecy. 24

Severance from the Li Clan

When Li clansmen used his name to commit crimes in Spirit City, Li Yuntian refused to intervene on their behalf. He had already made clear to Qian Xunji that Spirit Hall could punish them according to its laws, and he later maintained this position when the clan patriarch sought his aid. 37 38

The clan members were stripped of their assets, expelled, imprisoned, or executed according to the severity of their crimes. Public opinion largely sided with Li Yuntian, recognizing him as a loyal and righteous man rather than accepting the corrupt relatives’ claims of kinship. 37 38

Li Yuntian consumed a Creation Pill refined by Zhang Qingxuan from top-tier immortal herbs. His Green Fire Sword evolved into the Golden Flame Sky-Severing Sword, and his Soul Power rose to level 93. 65 66

Counteroffensive against the Fallen Soul Masters

After Spirit Hall decided to launch a full-scale counteroffensive, Li Yuntian returned to the family residence and informed Zhang Qingxuan and the others that the operation would begin in seven days, allowing time to coordinate with the empires and major sects. This discussion prompted Zhang Qingxuan to warn that Spirit Hall needed to retain a substantial force to protect its rear. 74

Lin Meng’er’s Adoption and the Marriage Agreement

When Lin Meng’er sought refuge with the Li Family, Li Yuntian and Yang Wanqing accepted her as their goddaughter. He assured her that she was a rightful young lady of Li Mansion and could request anything she needed. 89 94

At the subsequent family dinner, the old marriage promise was clarified as applying to a biological son of Li Yuntian and Yang Wanqing, rather than Zhang Qingxuan. Li Yuntian apologized to Lin Meng’er, who accepted Zhang Qingxuan as her brother. Faced with his wife and daughter’s displeasure over the awkward situation, he retreated into silence and hid behind his bowl. 95

Defense in Martial Soul City

When Tang Zhen attempted to pressure Yun Qingyang, Li Yuntian appeared with the Golden Flame Sky-Severing Sword and neutralized the elder’s aura. Tang Zhen recognized that Li Yuntian had completely surpassed him, despite having only recently broken through to level 93 himself. Li Yuntian responded to Tang Zhen’s accusations with contempt, attributing the difference to the latter’s inability to advance along his own path. 129

After Ning Fengzhi mediated the confrontation, Li Yuntian praised Yun Qingyang’s performance and openly recognized Lu Xueqi’s extraordinary aptitude. 130

Reunion with Li Yunruo

Li Yunruo later appeared before Li Yuntian with her adopted daughter, Li Changyue, seeking assistance with the child’s cultivation. Li Yuntian’s anger at the mention of family nearly erupted, but Yang Wanqing persuaded him to distinguish Li Yunruo from the relatives who had betrayed them. 222

Li Changyue’s resemblance to Li Yunruo as a child reminded him of the years when he had protected his younger sister. With Yang Wanqing’s support, he allowed the mother and daughter to remain, but explicitly warned that no other clan members were welcome and that he might be unable to restrain himself from killing them if they appeared. 222

Family Gathering in Spirit City

During the New Sect Rankings gathering, Li Yingxue returned to the Li residence and manipulated Li Yuntian into giving her money. She threatened to take his hidden thirty-year Drunken Exquisite wine, prompting him to abandon his initial teasing and eagerly placate her. He later provided her with information about the major powers attending the gathering in exchange for additional wine money. 244

Li Yingxue took more than half of his private savings, and Yang Wanqing dismissed his appeal for help by describing their daughter’s actions as financial management. He was also surprised by Li Yingxue’s willingness to separate Li Yunruo and Li Changyue from the wrongdoing of the clan elders. 244

Gift Selection for the Journey to Another World

After the group returned from Penglai Immortal Island, Li Yingxue and Xiao Bai visited the Li Family headquarters to choose gifts for their journey to another world. Li Yuntian was initially delighted to sense his daughter’s return, only to discover that she was heading directly for the secret hideout containing his private savings and treasured tea and wine. The pair selected Azure Spirit Tea and Hundred Herbs Immortal Wine from his collection. 366

Yang Wanqing explained that such potent gifts could overwhelm recipients living in the Age of Dharma Decline and took responsibility for preparing suitable offerings. She then confronted Li Yuntian over his concealed possessions and inventoried the collection. During the same gathering, Li Yingxue described herself as one of the weakest members of the traveling group and “merely” a level 96 Super Douluo. Her parents were stunned by this assessment. In their silent exchange, Li Yuntian confirmed that he was a level 97 Super Douluo, while Yang Wanqing was a level 92 Titled Douluo. 367
