• Shui Wan’ning (Demon Empress): A former deep-sea sovereign who falls into despair after her lover abandons her. Zhang Qingxuan refuses her offer of her soul ring and soul bone, instead restores her will to live and has her guide him in locating a place connected to his search. 239 After taking human form, she remains near him at Dragon Tiger Mountain and later accompanies him and Lu Xueqi on their travels. 241 266 She remains at Bright Moon Temple and is present during his later visits.
