Background / History

Qian Daoliu is an elder statesman of Spirit Hall and the father of Pope Qian Xunji. Although Qian Xunji is responsible for the Hall's public leadership, Qian Daoliu frequently has to handle urgent administrative decisions that his son leaves behind. Their fellow elders regard this as an established father-son pattern. 10

In his younger years, Qian Daoliu was known for an uncompromising knightly code. He valued fairness, honor, and direct confrontation so highly that he would voluntarily surrender tactical advantages, take powerful attacks head-on, and refuse to retreat in battle. 28

He recognizes that Zhang Qingxuan is both exceptionally gifted and unusually difficult to investigate. After studying the sparse intelligence on Zhang's upbringing, cultivation, and business influence, Qian Daoliu orders Golden Crocodile Douluo to observe Zhang without interfering, judging that he should be made a friend rather than an enemy. 28

When Fallen Soul Masters launch their continent-wide offensive and nearly seventy percent of Spirit Hall's branch halls lose contact, Qian Daoliu orders the abandonment of remote, difficult-to-defend branches. He concentrates the surviving forces in Spirit City and major core cities rather than attempting to defend every outpost. He subsequently supports a decisive counterattack and personally assigns combat duties. 70 74

During the conflict with Evil Soul Valley, Qian Daoliu is trapped by the Soul-Devouring Spirit Blood Formation and pressured by the Necromancer Douluo. He adapts to a defensive strategy after realizing that the formation has been disrupted from outside, buying time until its collapse. 77 82 Once free, he uses the Angel Domain to purify the battlefield and defeats the Necromancer Douluo, pinning him with the Angel Holy Sword before killing him with a pure light flame. After Clear Sky Sect and other factions use Martial Soul Hall as a shield against Fallen Soul Masters, Qian Daoliu abandons his usual restraint. He violently punishes Tang Chen and compels him to sign compensation treaties for the damage inflicted on Martial Soul Hall. 86

He later accepts Tang Chen's formal challenge at Sunset Valley, intending to fight honorably without relying on divine power, the divine Angel Holy Sword, or his speed and aerial advantages. Tang Chen's final Ring Detonation and Great Sumeru Hammer force him to use Angel Divine Power defensively. Qian Daoliu nevertheless concedes the duel and agrees to stop targeting Clear Sky Sect and restore Whale Rubber to its normal market price. Recognizing Zhang Qingxuan's value as an instructor, Qian Daoliu personally invites him to teach at Martial Soul Academy. Lu Xueqi's rise from level ten to level nineteen in just over a year convinces him that Zhang's teaching could transform the future strength of Spirit Hall. 107

After Yun Qingyang is gravely injured in Spirit City, Qian Daoliu learns that the boy has burned his Martial Soul Origin and life force to protect his younger sister. He and Qian Xunji fear Zhang Qingxuan's response to the apparent destruction of his disciple's cultivation prospects. 140

When Zhang Qingxuan seeks the innate divine gold detected within the Worship Hall, Qian Daoliu refuses to surrender the Angel Holy Sword, the Qian family's divine heirloom. Furious that Qian Xunji has effectively offered it for trade, he attacks his son and must be restrained by the other worshippers. He rejects Zhang Qingxuan's offer of a cultivation method, sword art, and personal favor, insisting that the sword will not be traded. 184 185

Much later, Qian Daoliu provides Qian Xunji with an ancient book containing secrets of Spirit Hall's inheritance, including information connected to divine materials. He insists that Zhang Qingxuan must not see the book directly. 186 He subsequently trades four confirmed clues to innate divine objects for Zhang Qingxuan's Mystic Fire True Scripture, which he keeps from Qian Xunji until he has examined it himself. 187

When Qian Xunji again leaves Spirit City without notice, Qian Daoliu discovers the Pope's abandoned official documents and a letter claiming that he has departed for an incognito investigation. Unable to locate his son, Qian Daoliu is forced to suppress his anger and handle the resulting administrative burden. 210

During Martial Soul Hall's campaign against Sea God Island, Qian Daoliu personally leads the expedition and confronts Sea God Island's High Priestess, Bo Saixi. Their duel escalates into a clash between the Angel and Sea God domains, with Bo Saixi's ability to replenish herself from the sea giving her an important advantage in endurance. 227 233 234 Qian Daoliu expends substantial Soul Power on his incomplete Six Wings Heavenly Fire Sword, but prepares to replenish himself with a Spirit Orange and still believes victory possible. Before their duel can conclude, the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King ambushes and injures both combatants. After witnessing Zhang Qingxuan battle the whale king and Demon Empress, Qian Daoliu acknowledges that his former connection with Spirit Hall no longer gives the Hall meaningful authority over him. He thanks Zhang for saving him and explicitly promises a personal favor in return. 237 238

Following the Sea God Island conflict, Qian Daoliu understands that Zhang Qingxuan's strength has reached a level Spirit Hall cannot casually provoke. He warns Qian Xunji against overreaching in his plan to use a continent-wide tournament to test Dragon Tiger Mountain and restore Spirit Hall's authority. He estimates that even he and Tang Chen together would have less than a forty percent chance of defeating Zhang Qingxuan. 241

After Zhang Qingxuan establishes the Yin-Yang Five-Element Grand Formation, the resulting blessing spreads throughout Douluo Planet. Qian Daoliu senses that his cultivation bottleneck has loosened and immediately enters seclusion to pursue the breakthrough. 305

By the time Bibi Dong's divine corruption is discovered, Qian Daoliu has reached level one hundred as Douluo Planet's ascension raises the world's limits. Afterward, Qian Daoliu returns to Spirit Hall with Bibi Dong while Qian Xunji prolongs his stay at Dragon Tiger Mountain. Qian Daoliu is principled, proud, and deeply committed to chivalry. He considers victory achieved through external advantages—such as Angel Divine Power—to be less honorable, even when that power is legitimately his own. 103 106

He judges that confronting the Rakshasa God would require reaching level one hundred and thirty and drawing the deity onto Douluo Planet, or inheriting the Angel Godhood. The Deep Sea Demonic Whale King ambushes and injures both combatants. After the Sea God Island conflict, Qian Daoliu questions Qian Xunji's proposal for a continent-wide high-level spirit fighting tournament intended to reorder sect rankings and reassert Spirit Hall's authority. He specifically cautions his son not to overstep against Dragon Tiger Mountain. 241

Chen Jianjun's Challenge

At the New Sect Rankings gathering, Qian Daoliu accepts Chen Jianjun's challenge outside Spirit City. He demonstrates the overwhelming gap between a Limit Douluo and a Super Douluo, breaks through the Seven Kill Domain with his Angel Domain, and ultimately agrees to decide the battle through a final sword exchange. 252 253 254

Chen Jianjun reaches level ninety-nine and commands the Power of Heaven and Earth during the battle. Their final exchange ends in a draw purchased with Chen's remaining lifespan, leaving him gravely wounded. After Zhang Qingxuan establishes the Yin-Yang Five-Element Grand Formation, the resulting cosmic energy nourishes Douluo Planet and benefits its human Soul Masters. Qian Daoliu senses that his cultivation bottleneck has loosened and enters seclusion to pursue a new breakthrough. 304 305

Divine Interference in Spirit Hall

Qian Daoliu's new spiritual perception exposes Rakshasa Divine Power within Bibi Dong's soul. Aware of the ancient feud between the Rakshasa and Angel gods, he suspects a larger attack on Spirit Hall and fears that the Angel God may no longer be able to protect them.
