Background / History

Qian Daoliu is an elder statesman of Spirit Hall and the father of Pope Qian Xunji. Although Qian Xunji is responsible for the Hall's public leadership, Qian Daoliu frequently has to handle urgent administrative decisions that his son leaves behind. Their fellow elders regard this as an established father-son pattern. 10

In his younger years, Qian Daoliu was known for an uncompromising knightly code. He valued fairness, honor, and direct confrontation so highly that he would voluntarily surrender tactical advantages, take powerful attacks head-on, and refuse to retreat in battle. 28

He recognizes that Zhang Qingxuan is both exceptionally gifted and unusually difficult to investigate. After studying the sparse intelligence on Zhang's upbringing, cultivation, and business influence, Qian Daoliu orders Golden Crocodile Douluo to observe Zhang without interfering, judging that he should be made a friend rather than an enemy. 28

During the conflict with Evil Soul Valley, Qian Daoliu is trapped by the Soul-Devouring Spirit Blood Formation and pressured by the Necromancer Douluo. He adapts to a defensive strategy after realizing that the formation has been disrupted from outside, buying time until its collapse. 77 82 Once free, he uses the Angel Domain to purify the battlefield and defeats the Necromancer Douluo. 84

Much later, Qian Daoliu provides Qian Xunji with an ancient book containing secrets of Spirit Hall's inheritance, including information connected to divine materials. He insists that Zhang Qingxuan must not see the book directly. 186 He subsequently trades four confirmed clues to innate divine objects for Zhang Qingxuan's Mystic Fire True Scripture, which he keeps from Qian Xunji until he has examined it himself. 187

When Qian Xunji again leaves Spirit City without notice, Qian Daoliu discovers the Pope's abandoned official documents and a letter claiming that he has departed for an incognito investigation. Unable to locate his son, Qian Daoliu is forced to suppress his anger and handle the resulting administrative burden. 210

During Martial Soul Hall's campaign against Sea God Island, Qian Daoliu personally leads the expedition and confronts Sea God Island's High Priestess, Bo Saixi. Their duel escalates into a clash between the Angel and Sea God domains, but Bo Saixi's ability to draw upon the sea grants her a decisive advantage. 227 233 234 Qian Daoliu is left depleted after using his incomplete Six Wings Heavenly Fire Sword and is subsequently attacked by the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King before Zhang Qingxuan intervenes. 234 235 236
