Background / History
The Star Luo Empire's political core is controlled by the Dai imperial clan and the Zhu family. Their inherited martial souls, respectively the Evil Eye White Tiger and Nether Civet, have been joined through arranged marriages for generations; the inheritors of both martial souls are expected to become partners and jointly maintain the empire's central power 2 18.
Its imperial succession follows an exceptionally harsh, strength-based system. The empire recognizes only one heir; defeated contenders are “erased,” with possible outcomes including death, crippled Soul Power, or lifelong imprisonment. Fear of this fratricidal struggle drove Third Prince Dai Mubai to flee Star Luo 2 106 111.
The empire maintains a large army whose yearly costs exceed those of the Heaven Dou Empire, contributing to its stronger military. It is described as a major power despite lacking an internal Titled Douluo 110 111 199.
Although the Dai family's ruthless succession system helped the empire expand from a much smaller territory into one of the continent's two great empires, it also left its current royal line with few viable competitors. An old minister attributed the empire's rise to its iron-blooded throne competition, while privately worrying that Dai Weisi's near-guaranteed succession had made him unfit to rule 199.
Government and Succession
- Star Luo Emperor — Holds supreme authority, personally handled the detention of First Prince Dai Weisi, and demonstrated a pragmatic willingness to yield when confronted by Shrek Academy's Titled Douluo-level backing 108 111.
- Imperial court — Ministers advise the emperor and oversee state affairs; during the Shrek incident, some called for Shrek Academy to be destroyed while others warned that Dai Weisi's safety required restraint 108.
- Imperial guards — Black-armored guards accompany the emperor and enforce order in Star Luo City. Guards at the Shrek Academy confrontation were Soul Kings, but could not force open the academy gates 109.
- Succession principle — The throne belongs to the strongest contender, making royal bloodline, cultivation, and combat ability central to imperial politics 106 109 111.
- Current succession conflict — After Dai Weisi and Dai Mubai clashed over Zhu Zhuqing during Shrek Academy's freshman tournament, the emperor decreed that the two must fight to the death: the winner would inherit the throne, while the loser would die 229.
- Policy toward Shrek Academy — Despite the humiliation suffered during the Star Luo branch incident, the emperor has treated avoiding further conflict with Shrek Academy as a state priority. He later warned Dai Weisi that any further provocation of the academy would result in execution, even if Dai Weisi remained his son 112 247.
Relations
- Star Luo Emperor — The empire's reigning sovereign. He initially confronted Shrek Academy over Dai Weisi's capture, then publicly supported the academy after facing Dai Tianling and another stronger figure 108 111 112.
- Dai Weisi — Eldest Prince and later-described Crown Prince. His public defeat and confinement at Shrek Academy triggered the empire's confrontation with the academy; he subsequently resumed appearing with the imperial delegation but remained under his father's strict warning not to provoke Shrek again 107 108 199 213 247.
- Dai Mubai — Third Prince who fled the empire rather than participate in its lethal succession struggle. The emperor regards his flight as cowardice, yet later compelled him to face Dai Weisi in a fatal contest for the throne 2 107 206 229.
- Zhu family — Imperial allied family whose Nether Civet inheritors traditionally marry the Dai family's Evil Eye White Tiger inheritors 2 18.
- Zhu Zhuyun — Dai Weisi's fiancée and daughter of the Duke of Nether; she accompanied Dai Weisi to investigate Shrek Academy. Dai Weisi's interest in replacing her with Zhu Zhuqing caused her to feel discarded and resentful 106 109 213 228.
- Zhu Zhuqing — Zhu Zhuyun's younger sister and Dai Mubai's fiancée. Dai Weisi sought to obtain her hand as a means of connecting the empire to Shrek Academy, while the emperor offered her the position of empress regardless of which prince inherited the throne; Shrek Academy rejected imperial interference in her future 213 228 229.
- Duke of Nether — Zhu Zhuyun and Zhu Zhuqing's father, who attended the emperor's visit to Shrek Academy and expressed disappointment in Zhu Zhuyun's conduct. He later joined the emperor in attempting to arrange Zhu Zhuqing's future 109 228 229.
- Dai Yueyan — A Shrek Academy student whose resemblance to the imperial Dai family provoked succession rumors. He stated that he had no connection to the current emperor 106 109.
- Dai Tianling — Dai Yueyan's father and a White Tiger Titled Douluo. His intervention compelled the emperor to accept Shrek Academy's terms 111.
- Dai Yun'er — A level 53 Soul King with the Hell Spirit Cat Martial Soul and a possible connection to Dai Tianling and Dai Yueyan. Her martial soul caused the emperor to speculate about a blood relationship with the Dai imperial family 214.
- Wu Siduo — A Shrek Academy student whose self-created Hell White Tiger Martial Soul Fusion Skill impressed both the emperor and the Duke of Nether. They regretted that an individual with her exceptional compatibility did not belong to the empire 224 226.
- Shrek Academy — A powerful academy operating a branch in Star Luo City under the emperor's formal endorsement. Its Star Luo branch is associated with Yun Ming, who is identified as a branch dean 112 147 187.
Shrek Academy Incident
Dai Weisi's Defeat
A new Shrek Academy branch opened in Star Luo City's prosperous district beside Star Luo Royal Advanced Academy. Viewing the city as a place that should have only one academy, Dai Weisi attempted to enter and confront the institution 106.
Dai Yueyan, a five-ring Soul King with three purple and two black soul rings, defeated the four-ring Dai Weisi in one move. He carried the unconscious prince into Shrek Academy and demanded that Dai Weisi's parents retrieve him 107.
The incident became a public humiliation for the imperial family. Though the authorities contained the news within Star Luo City, the prince's defeat by a younger-looking opponent in the street damaged the empire's prestige 108.
Imperial Negotiation
The emperor personally led guards and ministers to Shrek Academy. After entering, he faced Dai Yueyan, who demanded 100 million Gold Soul Coins and five soul bones over one thousand years old for Dai Weisi's release 109 110.
Rather than immediately accept the ransom, the emperor offered to adopt Dai Yueyan and give him the Star Luo throne. Dai Yueyan refused, declaring he had no interest in acknowledging another father 110 111.
Dai Tianling then appeared to protect his son, revealing Titled Douluo-level pressure. Faced with Shrek Academy's strength, the emperor admitted he had acted rashly, agreed to provide the requested resources, and offered Dai Tianling a hereditary king position. Dai Tianling declined, demanded doubled compensation without additional taxation, and required the empire to promote Shrek Academy's enrollment 111.
Imperial Edict
One day after the confrontation, the emperor issued an empire-wide edict that:
- Fully supported Shrek Academy's construction.
- Treated anyone obstructing or sabotaging Shrek Academy as an enemy of the Star Luo Empire.
- Allowed all suitably aged people to take the academy's entrance examination regardless of background or talent 112.
The edict was unprecedented even compared with Star Luo Royal Advanced Academy. It made Shrek Academy famous across the empire and led large numbers of applicants to Star Luo City 112 113.
Dai Weisi's Confinement
Following the incident, Dai Weisi was confined in a remote imperial side hall until the political “storm” passed. His confinement prevented him from training with Star Luo Royal Advanced Academy ahead of the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Fighting Tournament 113 199.
While confined, Dai Weisi sought a way to seize Shrek Academy's resources and experts, but an old minister deemed this unrealistic. He also contemplated eliminating Dai Mubai and other Dai-family bloodlines to ensure that he would remain the only possible heir 199.
Shrek Academy Freshman Tournament
The Star Luo Emperor attended Shrek Academy's freshman tournament in Suotuo City alongside members of the imperial family and trusted aides. His presence alongside Emperor Xue Ye, Qian Daoliu, and leading figures from major factions reflected Shrek Academy's continent-wide influence 206.
Dai Weisi was permitted to attend after claiming that he wished to understand Shrek Academy's strength and learn humility. During the tournament, however, he attempted to use a prospective marriage to Zhu Zhuqing to establish a bridge between the empire and Shrek Academy 213.
The emperor and Duke of Nether approached Zhu Zhuqing directly, offering to make her empress no matter whether Dai Weisi or Dai Mubai eventually took the throne. Cai Yue'er rejected the offer, declaring that outsiders could not decide Shrek Academy students' futures and threatening to send Elder Long to the Star Luo imperial palace if they persisted 228 229.
The emperor withdrew rather than escalate the confrontation, recognizing that Shrek Academy's displayed forces could not be easily challenged. Afterward, he imposed the empire's traditional final test on Dai Weisi and Dai Mubai: only one could inherit, and the loser was to die 229.
After witnessing Tang Wulin's overwhelming victory over the empire's representative, the emperor personally ordered Dai Weisi never to provoke Shrek Academy again, threatening immediate execution for disobedience 247.
Education
Star Luo Royal Advanced Academy
Star Luo Royal Advanced Academy is the empire's officially established highest academy. It trains talented soul masters and imperial-family members, and Dai Weisi served as captain of its academy team 112 113.
Following the emperor's edict, its dean observed Shrek Academy's recruitment personally. The dean understood that the emperor would not support an unknown academy without cause, despite the academy's sudden prominence 113.
Shrek Academy Star Luo Branch
Shrek Academy's Star Luo branch conducted wide enrollment after receiving imperial backing:
| Enrollment | Result |
|---|---|
| Applicants | Nearly 1,000 people registered 114 |
| Admitted students | 91 students 114 |
| Stated access | Suitable applicants could take the examination regardless of social background or talent 112 |
| Location | Star Luo City, in a prosperous district near Star Luo Royal Advanced Academy 106 |

Trivia
