Background

Robin first appears in Alabasta's Royal Capital Mausoleum, where she incapacitates King Cobra and confronts Rody over his knowledge of the Poneglyph hidden there. Having spent twenty years fleeing because of her ability to read ancient script, she treats uncovering the Void Century as her reason for continuing to live. 42

Desperate for answers about the Great Kingdom, the Five Elders, and Imu, Robin offers Rody anything she possesses in exchange for the truth. Rody removes her heart, then restores her to life with his healing ability; after she recovers, she confirms that the Alabasta Poneglyph concerns Pluton's location. Rody shares what he knows of the Void Century and the World Government's origins. 42

While leaving the mausoleum, Robin discloses that she is affiliated with Baroque Works. Rody accepts this without concern, and she joins him alongside Nami and Vivi. She later helps announce the end of Crocodile's Utopia Plan to Baroque Works' officers and identifies Vivi as Alabasta's princess. 43 47

Robin continues pursuing historical evidence during the Sky Island expedition. At Shandora, she examines a Poneglyph containing information about Poseidon and concludes that connecting information from Poneglyphs around the world can lead her to the truth of history. 64

The World Government later attempts to negotiate for Robin's surrender through CP9 chief Spandam. Rody refuses and kills Spandam and the accompanying agents, reinforcing Robin's belief that his strength and possessiveness will keep her from being abandoned. 81

Rody subsequently raises the ruins of Ohara into the sky as part of Heaven Kingdom and begins rebuilding it. He also tells Robin that Jaguar D. Saul, the Marine vice admiral who once protected her, is alive. 97
