Background and History
Di Qiu’er lived in the Star Dou Forest as the Three-Eyed Golden Lion for approximately fifteen thousand years. Her status as the Emperor Auspicious Beast ties her to the fortune of the soul-beast race, but she has little authority over the forest’s major decisions. Di Tian raised her and came to regard her as his own child; Bi Ji also watched over her as she grew up 64 69 83 85.
To face her Destiny Tribulation, she transforms into a human and enters the human world under the name Di Qiu’er. Bi Ji teaches her to wear clothes and conceal her identity, while Di Tian gives her a Reverse Scale and supplies for the journey 63 64 85.
Destiny leads her to Jiang Yue, whom she follows in the belief that staying near him will help her survive the tribulation. Their first meeting in Heaven Dou City becomes a fight: her strength and defenses withstand most of his attacks, but his Unfeeling Sword wounds her neck. After he recognizes her Golden Dragon Spear and deduces her identity, they agree to keep it secret. He treats her wound and helps her navigate human society; she offers protection and future cultivation resources in return 67 68.
She later accompanies Jiang Yue to the Extreme North and the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. There, she helps confront hostile Immortal Herbs and obtains the two herbs that bring her to Soul King rank. On returning to Star Dou Forest, she persuades Di Tian to find a Time-Attribute Soul Beast for Jiang Yue 73 74 78 81 82 83.
Before leaving the forest again, Di Qiu’er refuses to disclose the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to Di Tian, treating it as a secret between friends. Di Tian insists that the Scarlet King accompany her, while Bi Ji secures the Ice Empress’s agreement to protect her. She subsequently wins a friendly Soul King spar against Jiang Yue, taking advantage of his unfamiliarity with his new time-based soul skill 85 86 87 88.
Life in Mingdu and Academy Enrollment
Di Qiu’er travels to Mingdu with Jiang Yue under the concealed protection of the Scarlet King and Ice Empress. The city’s architecture, lights, and Soul Tools astonish her. Jiang Yue encourages her to learn to use the technology and proposes enrolling at the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy while they wait for an opportunity involving the Snow Empress Embryo 89 91.
Their entrance tests reveal exceptional physical ability. Di Qiu’er challenges all ten opponents in their upgrade assessment at once, and Jiang Yue joins her as a supporting fighter. With his Mental Detection Sharing, emotional interference, and transferred enhancement effects, she breaks the students’ defenses and helps defeat the entire group. Lin Jiayi advances both newcomers directly to fifth year in the Practical Soul Guidance Department 90 91.
At the academy, she befriends Meng Hongchen and learns to enjoy Soul Tools, particularly propulsion equipment. Meng introduces her and Jiang Yue to Ji Juechen. Di Qiu’er defeats the swordsman through overwhelming strength and defense, damaging his Meteorite Iron Sword with her punches 95 96 97 98.
Jing Hongchen later welcomes her and Jiang Yue to the Hongchen residence and considers them possible replacements for members of the academy’s next tournament team. Xiao Hongchen subsequently invites both to join that team, though their participation is not confirmed at that point. Jing also arranges a private villa for Di Qiu’er, Jiang Yue, Ye Guyi, and the Hongchen siblings; she accepts the arrangement and asks for a room beside Jiang Yue’s 100 112 123.
Romantic Awakening and Destiny Guidance
After defeating Ji Juechen, Di Qiu’er wrestles with Jiang Yue and bites his neck as retaliation for his teasing. She does not initially understand the gesture’s intimate implications in human society. Meng explains them, leaving her embarrassed and insisting that she and Jiang Yue are only friends 98 99.
Seeing Meng kiss Jiang Yue later produces an unfamiliar hollow ache. Di Qiu’er summons Di Tian to ask about it, and he explains romantic attachment. She concludes that she probably likes Jiang Yue and resolves to pursue him, partly imagining a lifetime of his cooking 108 109 110.
Following advice from Di Tian and Xiong Jun, she tries to defeat Jiang Yue so she can take him back to Star Dou Forest. He ends the spar with Emotion Stripping, restores her emotions immediately, and questions her intentions. She admits her jealousy and affection, then initiates Destiny Guidance despite his attempt to stop her. Inside a golden cocoon, each experiences the other’s memories and emotions 111 112 113.
The exchange gives her knowledge of Jiang Yue’s past and concealed powers while allowing him to directly experience her sincere affection. It also produces his Sword of Destiny. A blue-gold Divine Sense fragment apparently intended for Di Qiu’er approaches during the process, but Electrolux intercepts it before it reaches her. Jiang Yue suspects divine interference, possibly from Tang San, and has the fragment contained in the Undead Demiplane; its origin is not established as fact 113 114.
Afterward, Di Qiu’er becomes openly affectionate and possessive. She confesses her love and kisses Jiang Yue, and their relationship becomes mutually understood. Their joined hands unexpectedly trigger a Martial Soul Fusion enabled by their shared power of destiny and spiritual connection 114 115.
Soul Hunting and Return to Star Dou Forest
Di Qiu’er volunteers to guide the expedition to obtain suitable soul rings for Ye Guyi. Her extensive knowledge of Star Dou Forest and light-attribute soul beasts makes her an effective guide, despite Xiao Hongchen’s initial doubts. She helps approach an aging, twenty-thousand-year Heavenly Dragon Horse, which ultimately sacrifices itself to Ye Guyi after assessing their compatibility 130 132 136.
During a subsequent encounter with evil soul masters, she fuses with Jiang Yue against a Blood Bat Soul Douluo. After Jiang Yue is left unconscious and Di Tian intervenes against Zhongli Wu, she continues concealing her identity from the other humans. She carries Jiang Yue to the Emerald Swans’ habitat and presents her access to Bi Ji as the result of a favor owed to her family 139 141 142.
Di Qiu’er asks Bi Ji to examine Jiang Yue and channels her remaining soul power into him to help stabilize his condition. While he recovers, she reflects on Di Tian as a father figure and worries that he will be angry about her unannounced Destiny Guidance. When Jiang Yue awakens amid affectionate Emerald Swans, she admits feeling jealous but assures him that she trusts him 143 144 145 146.
At the Lake of Life, Di Tian strengthens her Reverse Scale and reprimands her for risking herself and concealing Destiny Guidance. She apologizes and tells him that she can sense a change in her Destiny Tribulation, which eases his anger. Before the group leaves, she leads them to a Golden Tortoise and uses her spear to draw it from its pond; she remains protective of auspicious soul beasts and does not initially understand Jiang Yue’s claim that it is far older than it appears 146 147 148.
She later remains part of Jiang Yue’s close circle in Mingdu, sharing an outdoor meal with him, Meng Hongchen, Xiao Hongchen, and Lin Guyi when Ju Zi approaches after being drawn by the cooking’s aroma 174.
Appearance
In human form, Di Qiu’er appears to be a thirteen-year-old girl with an eye-shaped red marking on her forehead 64.
- Long golden hair reaching her waist and large golden eyes 64.
- Delicate features and smooth skin 64.
- Golden, diamond-shaped scales become visible beneath her skin when she fights 67.
- Later scenes also describe her eyes as red; during the academy assessment, they transform into ferocious-beast pupils when she releases her martial soul 90 115.
- Her forehead marking opens into an actual red eye when she initiates Destiny Guidance 113.
- When she controls her fusion with Jiang Yue, she wears light armor, keeps her golden hair in a high ponytail, and gains his sword-shaped forehead marking in place of her red pattern 115.
Personality
Di Qiu’er is direct, proud and eager to explore beyond the Star Dou Forest. She enjoys testing her strength against Jiang Yue and celebrates openly when she wins. Her confidence contrasts with her initial inability to read a menu or understand the value of Gold Soul Coins 68 73 87.
She is fiercely protective of Jiang Yue: she confronts Di Tian after he strikes him, presses the Immortal Herbs for answers while Jiang Yue undergoes dangerous body tempering, and offers to accompany him into the Sun Moon Empire. She also has an enormous appetite, which Jiang Yue attributes to the energy demands of her activated Golden Dragon bloodline 69 80 83 84.
Her curiosity extends beyond personal enjoyment: she initially hopes to document human civilization for future soul beasts entering the human world. Although skeptical of humans’ reliance on tools, she comes to find Soul Tools entertaining and enthusiastically experiments with a thruster 73 88 95.
Di Qiu’er is warm toward people she considers harmless. On meeting the weakened Meng Hongchen, she immediately offers to protect her from bullies. She also uses her soul power to help Meng resist the emotional influence of Jiang Yue’s sword intent 95 96.
Her understanding of courtship begins as unusually limited, leading to accidental intimacy and embarrassment. Once she recognizes her feelings, she pursues Jiang Yue directly rather than hesitating, though her early plans are influenced by simplistic soul-beast advice about overpowering a desired mate 98 99 110 111 113.
Destiny Guidance noticeably matures her judgment and broadens her knowledge. She adopts some of Jiang Yue’s humor and mannerisms, better distinguishes her feelings toward friends and family, and eventually recognizes that her impulsive decision could affect the entire Soul Beast Clan 114 130 132 144 146.
She remains openly jealous and possessive of Jiang Yue, even regarding the Emerald Swans’ affection as possible seduction, while acknowledging that her suspicions are baseless and affirming her trust in him. She also respects his wishes about remaining in the human world despite her own comfort in Star Dou Forest 115 145 146.
Abilities and Skills
Power of Destiny
As the Emperor Auspicious Beast, Di Qiu’er possesses a Power of Destiny significant to other soul beasts 63 74.
- Its display causes the Ice Empress to withdraw her threatening aura; for a moment, the Ice Empress senses protection against her approaching Heavenly Tribulation 74.
- It conceals Di Qiu’er’s soul-beast identity and, to some extent, her cultivation 85 86.
- The concealment is sufficient for her transformed soul-beast identity to remain undetected even before a Limit Douluo. Jiang Yue recognizes her through the Golden Dragon Spear rather than ordinary perception of her aura 86.
- Her Eye of Destiny can form a connection through forehead contact. She initially refuses to let anyone touch it, calling it her greatest secret; she later deliberately uses it with Jiang Yue 83 113.
- In combat, she uses destiny power to anticipate Jiang Yue’s position and attack where he is about to appear, countering some of his concealment and time-based movement 113.
- Her survival is tied to the hope and fortune of the Soul Beast Clan. Di Tian fears that her eventual ascension alongside Jiang Yue could remove that fortune from the clan, though this is his concern rather than an established outcome for her 145 147.
Unlike ordinary soul beasts, the Emperor Auspicious Beast does not face recurring Heavenly Tribulations. She faces a single Destiny Tribulation whose form, timing, and location are unknown. After Destiny Guidance with Jiang Yue, Di Qiu’er senses that this tribulation has changed; she does not state that it has been overcome 74 147.
Destiny Guidance
Destiny Guidance is the Three-Eyed Golden Lion’s memory-sharing ability, activated through contact between her opened Eye of Destiny and another person’s forehead 113.
- Envelops Di Qiu’er and Jiang Yue in a giant golden cocoon while their memories are exchanged 113.
- Lets Jiang Yue experience her fifteen thousand years of life and the vivid emotions of her time in the human world, including her developing affection for him 113.
- Gives her access to his childhood, traumatic experiences, martial souls, and concealed abilities. She subsequently knows about Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, Electrolux, living gold, and his self Martial Soul Fusion Skill 113 114 132 146.
- Allows vitality from Jiang Yue’s living gold to flow into her body. Her destiny power and his living gold also combine to create his Sword of Destiny, which Electrolux considers capable of becoming a divine artifact 113 114.
- Establishes the shared destiny and spiritual connection that enables their later Martial Soul Fusion 114 115.
Jiang Yue initially warns that exchanging memories could change her thinking and sense of identity. Di Qiu’er nevertheless chooses the exchange, and its aftermath shows greater understanding of human society and her own relationships 83 113 114 144.
Golden Dragon Martial Soul
Di Qiu’er simulates a Golden Dragon martial soul in human form. It possesses Ultimate Strength and activates her Golden Dragon bloodline 64 69 85.
- Her physical strength, defense and stamina exceed Jiang Yue’s; in their first fight, she withstands most of his sword attacks, though the defense-ignoring Unfeeling Sword can wound her 67 73.
- Her dragon-bloodline pressure frightens and disrupts the plant-type soul beasts at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 78.
- Her first two soul rings enhance her with dragon power; her fourth soul skill, Golden Dragon Blast, releases a sweeping shock wave 87.
- She can launch golden dragon heads as ranged attacks 87.
- Her martial soul is described as a complete, undiminished Golden Dragon with fully awakened ultimate talents 85 90.
- Her dragon scales withstand Ji Juechen’s fully empowered Meteorite Iron Sword without even a pale scratch. Her punches damage the sword and numb his hand, allowing her to defeat him using her first two enhancement skills 98.
- At Soul King level, her overall enhancements allow her to contend with ordinary Soul Sages and even weaker Soul Sages using Martial Soul Avatars. This combat capability does not represent a Soul Sage cultivation breakthrough 113.
- Golden Dragon Roar is used as a ranged attack against Jiang Yue during their later spar 113.
- Her ultimate attribute compresses soul power, giving her reserves far above those of ordinary soul masters at the same rank 87.
Her defenses do not make her immune to spiritual or emotional control. Jiang Yue can briefly disrupt her concentration, seal soul skills, and eventually end a spar through Emotion Stripping, which leaves her conscious but emotionally detached until he withdraws its influence 87 113.
Martial Soul Fusion with Jiang Yue
Di Qiu’er and Jiang Yue develop a Martial Soul Fusion despite the apparent incompatibility of a Golden Dragon and his sword martial souls. Their powers of destiny merge first, followed by spiritual power, allowing their bodies, soul power, and abilities to unite 115.
| Form | Manifestation | Effects |
|---|---|---|
| Jiang Yue-controlled fusion | Di Qiu’er becomes armor decorated with Golden Dragon patterns. Jiang Yue gains a red, vertical-pupilled forehead eye; his two main swords manifest together, while the Sword of Destiny and Qing Swords acquire a rose-gold glow 115. | His aura rises to roughly Soul Sage level. He can draw on Di Qiu’er’s strength and soul power and believes he can strengthen Emotion Shakes Heaven with her power and their shared destiny power 115. |
| Di Qiu’er-controlled fusion | Jiang Yue becomes lighter armor around her. Her forehead bears his sword-shaped mark, her hands become dragon claws, and the Golden Dragon Spear manifests with five-colored spiritual radiance 115. | Her spear gains the abilities of both his martial souls, including the Unfeeling Sword’s defense-ignoring property 115. |
| Partial-armor combat form | Di Qiu’er becomes armor on Jiang Yue’s forearms and legs rather than a full suit 139. | Amplifies his combat power during their battle with a Blood Bat Soul Douluo. Their combined form also employs his Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King soul bone, whose bloodline pressure suppresses the enemy’s Blood Bat martial soul 139. |
- Either partner can control the fusion, and they communicate within the fused state 115.
- The initial fusion is brief, ending before Di Qiu’er can fully test her form 115.
- They expect joint cultivation to accelerate their advancement and reduce the drawbacks of her Ultimate Martial Soul by at least half; this is an anticipated benefit rather than a recorded rank increase 115.
- Sustained combat fusion consumes soul power rapidly, requiring them to finish dangerous engagements quickly 139.
Spiritual Power and Transformation Rebirth
Her spiritual power remains strong after transformation, even though her current Golden Dragon martial soul lacks the Mental Attribute of her original form 87.
- She can condense her own soul rings rather than hunt soul beasts for them; her fifth ring forms during her breakthrough to Soul King 82.
- Transformation rebirth permits self-condensation of soul rings through her seventh ring 83.
- Remaining near humans allows her cultivation to grow without arduous training. Her ultimate attributes nevertheless slow her progress between ranks thirty and seventy 72.
- Her spiritual power is unaffected by transformation, although she no longer uses the Ultimate Light and Ultimate Fire of her original form 87.
- Jiang Yue considers her capable of learning Mental Simulation with practice because of her original Mental Attribute, but she declines his offer to teach it 87.
Forest Knowledge and Support
Di Qiu’er has extensive practical knowledge of Star Dou Forest, especially its light-attribute soul beasts. Jiang Yue gains some of this expertise through their memory exchange 130.
- Guides Ye Guyi’s soul-ring expedition and helps secure the aging Heavenly Dragon Horse’s cooperation before its sacrifice 130 136.
- Knows how to reach the Emerald Swans’ habitat and obtain assistance from Bi Ji 142 143.
- Can use her standing with Di Tian and the forest’s ferocious beasts to seek cultivation resources. She offers to negotiate with Xiong Jun for Darkgold Dreadclaw Bears, while warning that Di Tian is unlikely to permit Xiong Jun himself to be killed for a soul ring 115 146.
- Channels her remaining soul power into the unconscious Jiang Yue, improving his breathing and complexion before recovering her own reserves 144.
- Leads the group to a Golden Tortoise and draws it from its pond using the Golden Dragon Spear 148.
Her original feeding habits make light-attribute soul beasts wary of her: the Heavenly Dragon Horse remembers that the Emperor Auspicious Beast normally eats their brains 136.
Equipment and Items
- Golden Dragon Spear — a golden, spindle-shaped weapon carried in her Storage Soul Tool. During her fusion-controlled form, it inherits abilities from Jiang Yue’s two sword martial souls, including ignoring defenses 67 115.
- Di Tian’s Reverse Scale — a safeguard that allows him to tear through space and come to her aid if necessary. Initially worn as a dragon-scale necklace, it is later infused with additional soul power and embedded in the back of her left hand. Its upgraded function alerts Di Tian whenever she is in danger and reveals her precise location 63 85 146.
- Storage Soul Tool — used to carry belongings, including the spear and Gold Soul Coins 67 68.
- Class-Six Propulsion Soul Tool — enhances her already exceptional burst speed. She enjoys experimenting with thrusters after entering the academy and uses Class-Six propulsion during her attempt to overpower Jiang Yue 95 113.
Relationships
- Jiang Yue — initially her friend, guide, and traveling companion, later her romantic partner and Martial Soul Fusion partner. He guides her through human life; she protects him and helps secure resources for his cultivation. Destiny Guidance allows them to share memories and experience each other’s feelings, after which she openly confesses her love and their relationship becomes mutually understood. She remains jealous of other women’s closeness to him but affirms her trust, carries him to safety when injured, and helps support his recovery 68 83 84 113 114 115 142 144 146.
- Di Tian — raised her for fifteen thousand years and regards her as his child. His protectiveness sometimes conflicts with her wish to travel independently. She likewise recognizes him as a father figure. He explains her romantic feelings, reacts possessively to her attachment to Jiang Yue, and later reprimands her for risking herself and performing Destiny Guidance without consulting him. His personal affection exists alongside his responsibility to preserve the Soul Beast Clan’s fortune 83 85 109 110 144 145 146 147.
- Bi Ji — a caretaker from Star Dou Forest who helps prepare her for human life and takes pleasure in seeing her happy there. Di Qiu’er trusts her as a healer and brings the injured Jiang Yue to her. - Ice Empress — joins her and Jiang Yue on their journey to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well; later agrees to help protect Di Qiu’er. Travels to Mingdu as a concealed guardian alongside the Scarlet King 76 86 89 91.
- Scarlet King — appointed by Di Tian to guard her despite her initial objections. Follows her discreetly, witnesses her accidental neck-biting incident, and later reports her experiences, including Destiny Guidance, to Di Tian 85 88 89 98 146.
- Meng Hongchen — academy friend whom Di Qiu’er offers to protect. Meng teaches her about human romantic boundaries and helps her understand the implications of her physical closeness with Jiang Yue. Meng’s own affection for him triggers Di Qiu’er’s jealousy, but they continue sharing a social circle and later live in the same villa 95 96 98 99 108 116 123 174.
- Ji Juechen — academy sparring opponent. Di Qiu’er defeats him through overwhelming Golden Dragon strength and defense; his persistence in challenging her despite injuries surprises her 97 98.
- Xiao Hongchen — academy associate and prospective tournament teammate. He initially doubts her expertise as a forest guide but becomes increasingly impressed by her access to powerful soul beasts and Bi Ji 112 130 142 144.
- Ye Guyi — villa companion and beneficiary of her soul-hunting expertise. Di Qiu’er guides the expedition for suitable light-attribute soul rings and helps bring the Heavenly Dragon Horse to the point of sacrificing itself to Ye Guyi 123 130 136.
- Xiong Jun — one of the ferocious beasts familiar to her in Star Dou Forest. His advice about overpowering a desired mate influences her early attempt to capture Jiang Yue. She also considers asking him to provide Darkgold Dreadclaw Bears for Jiang Yue’s cultivation 110 111 113 115 146.
- Long Xiaoyao — Jiang Yue’s mentor. Di Qiu’er helps Jiang Yue recover after his assessment with Long and objects to how severely he was pushed, vowing to fight Long alongside him in the future 120.
