Background and History

Yashiro helped the Uchiha secure Hashirama Cells and research records from a Root laboratory, then demolished the site with Explosive Tags to cover the team’s escape 13. After the clan reached Origin Island, he accompanied Natsu and Yakumi on an expedition toward the sea. During the island’s first year of development, he led a combat squad against West Blue pirate crews and slave-trafficking ships 21 31.

During the expedition with Natsu, he encountered pirates attacking a merchant ship and compared their cannonballs’ explosive force to standard Explosive Tags 23. His later combat-squad expeditions used pirate ships seized from Har. In the operation against the Blood Axe Pirates, he ordered the seizure of their ship and supplies, then demanded information about their route, destination, cargo and surrounding waters from their defeated leader 31 36 37. After detecting a powerful sniper observing the operation from a rocky cove three nautical miles away, he declined to pursue because he could not guarantee victory and prioritized returning his clansmen safely 39.

He fought Marine forces defending Origin Island, then led the force assigned to take Seraya Island during the clan’s territorial expansion. Seraya’s lord surrendered without a fight 48 49 50 56 129. The first Marine assault exposed the limits of his strength: despite being one of the strongest members of the clan’s younger generation at twenty-five, he was deeply shaken by his inability to last even three moves against a Marine vice admiral 83.

As a clan elder, Yashiro reviewed counterespionage reports concerning CP0 attempts to infiltrate Uchiha territory 205. Natsu also assigned him to use his Mangekyō contract ability on Night Owl Guard members entering the restricted Heavenly Awakening Hall, whose contents were to remain secret 220. After hundreds of unsuccessful attempts to control Susanoo’s instincts during Sage Mode training, he underwent the Light of Susanoo injection. Seventy-two hours later, he achieved a controlled, semi-activated Sage Mode through Susanoo and solemnly thanked Natsu and Setsuna 227 250.

Years later, Yashiro and Tetsuka guarded a younger Uchiha expedition from concealment. Yashiro let Chunwu face Marine admiral candidate Chaton Tokikake without immediate rescue, but intervened when Chunwu’s newly awakened Susanoo threatened to run out of control 393 394 396. He subsequently led Night Owl Guards against the Blackbeard Pirates. Their assault destroyed the crew’s fighting force, though Blackbeard escaped 398 409 411 412 443. The attack followed Natsu’s standing instruction to kill Blackbeard if possible or otherwise cause him serious trouble, despite Blackbeard’s forces not having attacked the Uchiha during that battle 398.

After Akainu arrived, Yashiro and Tetsuka gathered the Night Owl Guard into a defensive formation facing the Marines’ three admirals. They then linked their forces with Yaoyu and Yakumi’s aerial reinforcements 415 416. Once the danger passed, Yashiro initially declined thanks and a banquet, explaining that protecting the younger clan members had been their principal purpose. He subsequently joined Tetsuka in using Chunwu and Rin’s Mangekyō awakenings as an excuse to persuade Yaoyu to share Taoho’s treasured liquor. During the gathering, he and Tetsuka discussed the battle and the clan’s subsequent rest and recovery 420 421 422.

During the later Sabaody conflict, Natsu assigned Yashiro an elite squad as the clan prepared to intervene following Madara’s Rinnegan awakening 513. Yashiro fought Aokiji across a frozen sea, using Fire Release and his ocular contracts to disrupt the admiral’s control of ice and land a grazing blade strike on his shoulder 531. He later immobilized Aokiji’s ice again when the Marines attempted to interrupt Madara’s attack on the Five Elders and God’s Knights 538. He subsequently stood among the thirteen Night Owl Guard elites confronting the God’s Knights and, later, the Red-Haired Pirates 541 567.

When Shanks intervened on behalf of the wounded Saint Shamrock, Yashiro recognized the Red-Haired Pirates’ earlier assistance to the Uchiha’s younger generation and stopped the Night Owl Guard from surrounding them while assessing Shanks’s intentions. The two sides remained facing one another as Madara’s meteor descended toward Mary Geoise 567.

Natsu’s activation of Takamagahara subsequently empowered the Uchiha forces, advancing existing Mangekyō users to Six-Tomoe Rinne Sharingan. The domain also enabled the clan’s fighters to manifest greatly enlarged and strengthened Susanoo against the approaching Demon Entities 585 586.

Personality

Yashiro is composed under attack and cautious when responsible for a unit: at Origin Island, he ordered an intelligence report sent home and forbade his team from striking first without authorization 48. He is protective of his clanmates, rushing to retaliate when Kei was wounded and stopping Chunwu from damaging his newly awakened eyes 50 396.

His restraint does not extend to opponents he considers enemies. He publicly belittled Tokikake after using their battle as Chunwu’s trial, and dismissed Blackbeard’s attempt to negotiate 396 399. Among allies, he shows a drier side, privately calling Setsuna an “old fox” over a stack of administrative reports and teasing Ace after accepting his apology 191 415.

He places clan safety above uncertain victories. When an observer’s sniping and concealment skills exceeded his own, he openly acknowledged the risk and withdrew his force rather than pursue 39. As a guardian, however, he distinguishes protection from overindulgence: he believes hardship is necessary for growth and keeps his subordinates hidden unless the younger generation faces a life-or-death crisis 394.

Despite his stern demeanor, he enjoys drinking with familiar companions. His initial refusal of a celebratory banquet quickly gave way when Ace revealed Yaoyu’s supply of fine liquor; he maintained a serious expression while presenting the younger fighters’ breakthroughs as justification for sharing it 420 421. He also recognizes obligations to outsiders who have helped his clan, restraining the Night Owl Guard rather than immediately surrounding Shanks’s crew 567.

Abilities & Skills

Sharingan and Mangekyō Sharingan

• His Three-Tomoe Sharingan predicted Onigumo’s sword trajectory; against Momonga, Yashiro and Kei used Sharingan prediction and alternating attacks to restrict the vice admiral’s swordsmanship 49 56.
• His Mangekyō ability, Year-Punishing Deity, is associated with contracts and restraints and gives him unusually sharp soul-level perception. That sensitivity initially made Susanoo’s chaotic instincts harder for him to handle during Sage Mode training 227.
• Contract formation: Natsu assigned him to form contracts with Night Owl Guard members entering Heavenly Awakening Hall as part of the measures protecting its secrets 220.
• Left-eye restraint: Against Aokiji, Year-Punishing Deity targeted the connection between the admiral and his ice wall, imposing a contract that prevented the wall from moving for three seconds despite Aokiji’s attempts to control it. Yashiro exploited the opening to pass through a gap and graze Aokiji’s left shoulder with his blade 531. He also immobilized Aokiji’s ice to prevent him from breaking through toward Madara 538.
• He can manifest Susanoo. Blackbeard shattered Yashiro’s Susanoo during their battle 411.
