Background / History

Tang San grew up in the Tang Sect and mastered the crafting and use of hidden weapons. At Shrek Academy, he initially insists that its finest weapons surpass anything shown on the Sky Curtain. Even after seeing missiles and a nuclear explosion, he maintains that hidden weapons have advantages against individual targets, though he lacks the materials to make the Tang Sect’s finest creations 5 6 9.

His conflict with Ning Rongrong begins over her accusations against his father, Tang Hao. Tang San attacks her in the girls’ dormitory; after she and Zhu Zhuqing leave Shrek, he ambushes them outside Suotuo City. Flender prevents the first attack, while Chen Xin intervenes when Tang San attacks them again 19 20 21. Tang Hao subsequently takes Tang San and Xiao Wu away from Shrek. Father and son stage a threat against Xiao Wu’s life to discourage her from escaping and make her depend on Tang San 22 23.

Tang San later returns to Shrek with Xiao Wu and Clear Sky Sect disciples to compete in the Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. His rivalry with Ning Rongrong continues through an exchange of hostile letters 42 43. He spends two months trying unsuccessfully to extract Chakra beneath the God Tree, then resumes Soul Power training 52. At the tournament, he reveals his Clear Sky Hammer against Thunderclap Academy’s Yu Tianxin but is knocked out of the arena 105.

Personality

Tang San takes pride in his Tang Sect training and reacts sharply when its weapons, his father, or the Clear Sky Sect are challenged. He conceals his intentions when it suits him: after ambushing Ning Rongrong, he feigns confusion in front of Flender; after secretly taking Oscar’s Digivice, he publicly offers Oscar support 5 9 20 95 96.

His protectiveness toward Xiao Wu is possessive. He lets her leave when Tang Hao is absent but privately resents her wish to go home; the two men later manipulate her with a staged threat 22 23. He is willing to use lethal violence against critics and people who refuse his family’s authority 18 19 102.

• A God King named Tang San appears on a parallel Douluo Star shown by the Sky Curtain. Shrek’s Tang San is treated by his companions as a possible earlier version of him, but the account does not establish them as the same individual 69 74.
