Background

Spatial rifts began appearing in the middle of the previous century, allowing scientists to observe dark matter and discover star source ore. These discoveries ushered in the Star Power era, but the rifts also released Rift Star Beasts that treated Earth as a hunting ground 1.

Humans capable of generating Star Power within their bodies became known as Star Power Awakeners. As prolonged conventional warfare became economically unsustainable, nations began training Awakeners as weapons of war while developing Star Power technology. After thirty years of fighting, humanity still controlled most of Earth's land, but the wilderness remained dangerous and new rifts continued to threaten that stability 1.

Properties and Superpower Traits

Trait Expression

A Superpower Trait is a special property of an Awakener's Star Power—the formal term for a superpower. Generating Star Power does not necessarily grant a trait: Guo Songtao is an Awakener whose Superpower Trait is listed as “None” 1 4.

  • Activation: Users guide Star Power to the relevant part of the body. Fang Yuan activates Iris Data by directing it into his pupils 4.
  • Specific conditions: Some traits require an external stimulus. “Platinum Digester,” for example, cannot express without the user swallowing platinum 4.
  • Laboratory stimulation: Star source rays produced from star source ore can stimulate trait expression. School laboratory staff describe these rays as harmless 4.
  • Variable effectiveness: Static Electricity Control's paralysis depends on both participants' Spirit attributes and Star Power levels 7.

Innate and Acquired Traits

Trait Type Acquisition Example
Superpower Trait Associated with awakening; an Awakener may possess Star Power without one 4 Han Youwei's Star Power Condensation 2
Star Slot Trait Acquired afterward through absorption, usually from a high-tier Star Beast's star core 2 Han Youwei's Static Electricity Control; Fang Yuan's Superpower Mimicry 2 12
  • Fang Yuan acquires Superpower Mimicry by channeling Star Power into the Triangular Star Core and absorbing the energy that flows back into his body 12.
  • High-tier Star Beast cores are extremely expensive: Guo Songtao compares one core's value to the cost of building half of Donghai No. 1 High School 2.

Applications

Application Documented Effect
Flight Awakeners with a flight ability can soar through the sky 1.
Underwater respiration An appropriate trait lets users extract oxygen from water and remain submerged for long periods 1.
Attribute enhancement Strength Enhancement raises Strength by 20%; enhancement abilities can also accelerate attribute cultivation 8 24.
Transformation Hidden human genes combine with Star Power to produce physical mutation, as with Qinglang's wolf claw 37.
Information gathering Iris Data displays status information; the amount Fang Yuan can read depends on his Spirit relative to the target's 4 12.
Concealment Night Walker covers the user's body with Star Power that blends into darkness, though rapid movement remains visible as a shadow and footsteps can still be heard 49.

Cultivation and Levels

Cultivation Mechanics

Star Power cultivation uses controlled circulation within the body. Cultivation models specify the pathways and structures through which Star Power must flow to accelerate progress 18 19.

  • Five training sections: Strength, Agility, Constitution, Spirit, and energy level 20.
  • Diminishing returns: Attribute gains slow as an Awakener approaches the practical limit associated with their level 18.
  • Balanced development: Once one attribute nears its limit, training a second can produce a greater increase in combat power. Super soldiers require at least two strong attributes 18 20.
  • Separate advancement: Fang Yuan's Rage Points can increase his four attributes, but cannot raise his Star Power level; that still requires cultivation 26.

Documented Levels

The commonly cited attribute “caps” are not absolute barriers. For Lv.1, Fang Yuan explains that training requirements approach infinity as Strength nears 20; enhancement abilities and his Rage Point system can produce values beyond ordinary limits 18 36 42.

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Lv.1 2 3 18 Most students in the two advanced Awakener classes are Lv.1. The commonly cited attribute limit is 20, subject to diminishing returns rather than an absolute prohibition.
Lv.2 32 42 Han Youwei reached this level near the end of summer break, after which her attributes rose rapidly. The database gives an average attribute value of 22.7 and an attribute limit of 29.
Lv.3 22 46 Wei Hailong is confirmed at this level, with Strength and Constitution of 30. The stated Agility limit is 39.

Major Cultivation Models

Model Distinguishing Features
EVA Star Power Model The world's most widely used model; establishes a specific circulation pathway to accelerate cultivation 18.
Davis Model Outperforms the Yang Yuping Model in Strength cultivation. Its Strength advantage keeps it internationally popular 19 20.
Yang Yuping Star Power Model Offers higher average cultivation improvement and better results in Agility, Constitution, and Spirit than the Davis Model 19.
  • Model proficiency matters: Mastering even one model takes substantial effort. Switching between models for individual attributes is generally less effective than becoming proficient in one 19.
  • Beginner instruction: Wei Hailong teaches the Huaxia Navy's Yang Yuping Basic Star Power Model Type II, explaining that advanced models are unsuitable for low-level Awakeners 19.
  • Ongoing research: Professor Yang Yuping recruits powerful Strength-type Awakeners to improve his model's weaker Strength section 20.

Consumption and Recovery

  • Maintaining abilities consumes Star Power. Fang Yuan exhausts both his stamina and Star Power during a morning of running with Advanced Agility Enhancement active 26.
  • Stamina and Star Power normally recover through rest 26.
  • Star Power potions accelerate recovery, but excessive use places strain on the organs 26.

Star Power Martial Techniques

Star Power martial techniques combine martial movements with controlled energy circulation. Only Awakeners can practice them, and powerful techniques are closely guarded assets of major martial arts gyms 34.

Thunder Fist

  • Circulation structure: The complete technique contains 108 ordered Star Power routes; reduced versions use 18, 36, or 72 streams 35.
  • Execution: Streams gather in the fist and form a vortex before the punch. The standard circulation time is 0.8 seconds, and faster circulation increases its power 35 36.
  • Physical requirements: An ordinary Lv.1 Awakener generally has enough Strength for the eighteen-stream version. The thirty-six-stream version requires approximately 23–24 Strength 36.
  • Recoil: Repeated use over a short period can seriously injure the user's arm. Wang Hongjun recommends reserving it for a decisive strike 36.

Spatial Rifts and Mutation

  • Warning signal: Star Power fluctuations precede spatial rifts. Instruments developed by the Star Power Laboratory made these fluctuations detectable, and thirty years of observations established the connection 29.
  • Variable warning period: How far in advance a rift can be anticipated depends on its size 29.
  • Biological effects: Pre-rift fluctuations can cause creatures to awaken or mutate. Increased animal mutations around Donghai City are linked to these fluctuations 28 29.
  • Animal abilities: Documented Lv.1 mutants include a hamster with Rapid Digestion, Little Orange with Flame Claw, and Little Gray with Advanced Agility Enhancement 28 38.

Abnormal Awakening

  • A banned awakening inducer leaves Fang Xiaozhu in a life-threatening half-awakened state, with her Star Power level fluctuating between “None” and “Lv.1” 45.
  • Hospital detection equipment confirms an unstable Star Power response, and a Star Power suppressant stabilizes her condition 45.

Star Power Technology

Energy Storage

Device Stored Energy Capabilities and Limitations
Star Power battery Star Power in its basic state 47 Stores an Awakener's energy for later retrieval, effectively increasing their available reserves 47.
Star Power storage device Star Power transformed by a Superpower Trait 46 47 Preserves ability-bearing energy, but remains laboratory-stage technology with much higher manufacturing costs and lower capacity 47 48.

Han Youwei's Storage Watch

  • Stores approximately one-tenth as much Star Power as a battery; a full charge sustains Advanced Agility Enhancement for roughly ten minutes 48.
  • Uses touchscreen controls: green stores energy, red releases it, and yellow indicates a low reserve 48.
  • Holds only one ability at a time 48.
  • Allows Fang Yuan to copy an ability back from stored Star Power, preserving access to a previous ability after Superpower Mimicry replaces it 48.

Education and Regulation

  • Schools test Star Power levels and traits to guide students' academic or martial entrance-examination choices 1 2.
  • Unknown traits require preliminary testing and submission to Huaxia's Awakened Data Administration for analysis 4.
  • Star Power technology is a highly sought-after university field; major companies sponsor promising students' tuition and living expenses 2.
  • Official athletic competitions strictly control Star Power use, although enhancement abilities remain valuable during training 24.
